  • I decided to create a separate video about the pre-skyhold build and team of my Elementalist from my Elementalist Trilogy build. The build was just as op in the beginning as it was at the end.
    This team composition is actually the best if you play the game on nightmare and you want to reach Skyhold without too much effort.

    Another golden video from you, as always. Extremely useful this time, focusing in the early game instead of late game is more helpful in my opinion. By the way, could you make a similar video for Iron Bull, because i can't find an early 2-hand sword build, maybe you have an idea. Again, great job man!

      Hmm... two handed AI is a bit difficult, since they lack great damage blocking skills so they are a bit squishy at the beginning. Block and Slash tries to be Shield Wall, but it just isn't.
      For you to survive as a two-handed warrior, you need to be very aggressive, since your offense is basically your defense. Sadly, the AI is just not aggressive enough. Especially not at the beginning, when your damage is extremely poor compared to a rogue - thanks to the high armor rating of enemies and the low base damage weapons you have.
      I can give you a suggestion for a defensive two-handed warrior. I have not tested this, but it might work:
      Level 1(Bull has +2 additional skills):
      Block and Slash, the Flawless Defense of Block and Slash and War Cry.
      Level 2: Charging Bull - great for offense and defense
      Level 3: It'll cost you(Vanguard Passive)
      Level 4: Livid - damage reduction based on enemy numbers
      Level 5: Shield Wall - needed for the passive we want
      Level 6: Bear Mauls the Wolves - great passive, turns every flank attack into 1 damage
      Level 7: Payback Strike - needed for the passive we want
      Level 8: Turn the Bolt - great protection against archers
      Level 9: Still Standing(upgrade for Livid) - guard comes with every Livid activation
      Tactics:
      Block and Slash - Favorite
      Charging Bull - Favorite
      Livid - Enable
      War Cry - Enable

    The first few times I played against this KNIGHT CAPTAIN DEMON and the other enemies was tricky. Luckily when I got back into the game and having seen the videos on the channel I had some ideas on how to defeat him and the others. Every battle and every enemy in this game and some enemies in particular I have to think very carefully about attacks, counterattacks, recovering energy if necessary, etc.

    Great video. One thing I was surprised at is your didn't use a setup where the whole party is running guard, barrier, and elusive stacks. You can have the setup as soon as you get to Haven even before the Hinterlands. You just have to respec Varric & Cassandra, as well as, run the first war table mission to get Varric an Amulet of Power. After that you can use anyone you want because you set their ability points when you get them. So you run with a Warrior who uses Horn of Valor with the Fortifying Blast upgrade so the whole party gets Guard on Hit. The Rogue runs the Lost in the Cloud upgrade on Toxic Cloud. The Mage of course runs Barrier. Have each ability set to preferred and you are good to go. It works great with whatever build you want to use for the Inquisitor and everything else is gravy.

    Are there other party combinations that work like this?

    • @AKisHerceg
      @AKisHerceg  Před 2 lety +2

      On Nightmare, I think this is the best you can have. You can play around with the Fear and the Nightmare status effects, but they expire way too fast. Ice is the best way to go for cc, a weapon and shield tank is the best punching bag and an archer and a mage are the safest way to deal damage. Although a double dagger rogues can be pretty viscous too when it comes to frozen targets, but that is a bit more dangerous to the AI since enemies hit hard.
      However, when it comes to party members, if you follow these builds, you can literally swap out anyone and it would not change the viability of the team. For example Sera can replace Varric with the same skills and tactics, and Blackwall can be switched with Cass or Bull etc.

    what are your thoughts on making an early dual wielding rogue? i made a new character (hopefully final but i just cannot stop loving this game haha), and was hoping to run this. or is it easier to run bow in the early and then respec to a dual wield later?

    • @AKisHerceg
      @AKisHerceg  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, bow is easier. Or more like "safer". But if you follow the tactics here for a support mage, then your dual wield rogue can do some serious wrecking. Get Flank Attack(upgrade it with Skirmisher), Twin Fangs, Deathblow. Poisoned Weapons with Leeching Poison. If you want it, you can pick up Stealth, but after you have Deathblow, go for the Pincushion passive in the archery tree.
      Even the AI can be devastating with these skills.

    • @AKisHerceg
      @AKisHerceg  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Pre-Skyhold I usually take Sera over Varric. Unless I spec Varric as DD. His Bianca is a bit buggy. Still, he can work with Exploding Arrow and Poisoned Weapons. You can bring two mages if you want, they are definitely helpful at the beginning since you have double Barriers, double Dispel, double Winter's Grasp and Ice Mine. Things are pretty easy that way.

    I’ve finished the game on nightmare with an bow assassin and a 2H reaver. I’m trying to decide on a mage specialization. I never clicked with Dorian’s spec. I like using a lightning staff and following the fire/frost tree abilities. I try to run solo for the most part but having a hard time choosing the right gear. Would you recommend encore or blade of tidarion? The double energy barrage seems cool but I don’t want to rely on just one spell.
    Thanks!

    • @AKisHerceg
      @AKisHerceg  Před 2 lety +2

      Check out my Frost/Fire Crusader, Battlemancer and the Elementalist Trilogy builds! They are very detailed when it comes to picking spells and equipment. :)
      BoT is more than just Energy Barrage spamming. You can apply multiple status effects with EB if you use this weapon. For example you don't need any additional ability with Winter's Grasp to get the 1000% dmg bonus if at least one of your element is cold, since EB will apply the Chill effect. If you pick Lightning as the second element EB will also apply shocked status effect which will reduce all enemy resistances by 20%. All from one spell. After that your Fire Mine for example will gain an additional 20% dmg boost(this leaves you with an insanely strong EB, WG and FM - the best spells in the game). So I definitely prefer BoT. The damage bonus you gain from EB with this weapon is just too good.
      All specs work fine with Fire Mine, for high damage, but I think the Necro is the most devastating with it if you have the Walking Bomb masterwork, since you can detonate it manually. So I definitely would not ignore Dorian's spec. :)

      I usually show my crafted gear in my videos. They are towards the end, before the demonstrations.
      I also have a video about the best weapon schematics I always use. As for armor, I almost never pick anything else other than the Superior or the Sturdy Prowler Armors schematics. They are the best damage oriented rogue armors in the game with the upgrades - all of them can be bought at the Hissing Waste merchant's shop. The Superior version needs the Short List Inquisition perk. :)

    I'm curious how or even if you'd change any of this with Friendly Fire on. I thought I'd try to use ice mines on my support mage to keep people in place for my main mage's fire mines, but apparently the effect radius is MUCH bigger than the trigger radius so it seemed impossible to use to defend my tank. Also I swear your AI is smarter with shield wall than mine :(

    • @AKisHerceg
      @AKisHerceg  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Naturally, I would change a lot. FF is a pain in the ass(in Origins and DA2 it was tolerable, they gave you challenge, but here, it's just thoughtless). All you can use is single target skills basically, since they don't deal FF. Honestly, I rather solo the game than to play with a team when FF is on. FF gives a very bland and boring playing experience, since you have to ignore 80% of your skills. So mages can only use Winter's Grasp, Flashfire, Energy Barrage and Barrier? Ice Mine will freeze your party(this is the only thing that can stop certain enemies, like Hakkonite Bruisers), Fire Mine will blast your party(this is the best damager skill in the game), Immolate, Chain Lightning, Mindblast etc. all more harmful to your team than to the enemies. So what's the point?
      Frankly, I think FF is just stupid in this game because the devs did not really designed the spells with FF in mind, unlike in Origins or DA2. There you have a great tactical menu, and slower paced combat. Here, you only have a "skill preference menu", and the combat is much faster, so FF is micro-management heaven. I beat the game a few times with FF on with each class, and that was enough for me. I haven't turned that stupid thing back on in ages.

      With the Templars, yeah 100% toxic with the lyrium addiction and mindset the chantry has Indoctrinated in some. It’s why I believe the Seekers, that Cassandra rebuilds, should eventually replace Templars.
      With Wardens though, they are 100% necessary with still 3 Blights remaining. With wardens such as the HOF, at least with my canon, pushing change for them to be more responsible and be more present in Thedas so we won’t have a repeat of Origins.

      @@indeathsacrifice6781 I think getting rid of circles makes more sense. There's too much baggage that clings to the term. Abolishing circles and creating Universities that are *OPTIONAL* is the way to go. As it stands, the issue with Circles is that they're compulsory, and akin to slavery.
      The best way to promote knowledge and education is to let people come to the decision to further their own understanding on their own instead of removing them from their homes and forcing them into it. And something tells me the events of DA4 are going to have the Fade torn down or at least transformed into something else entirely. And if the fade is removed, the threat of abominations goes down drastically.

    I can't play on PC, so I genuinely feel robbed about not being able to play DAO and DAII. I think they're avaliable on Xbox, right? Damn. Sony screwed us.
    And, yeah, I also like DAII, I love all three games, don't judge me.
