BUT GUYS, 8 YEAR OLD MATTHEW IS DESPERATE TO SEE THE DEADPOOL MOVIE. WE MUST CATER TO EVERYONE.
+0816Egg THINK OF POOR 6 YEAR OLD MATTHEW!!
"Boohoo, let me play you a sad song on the world's smallest violin."
no, this is stupid. 👎
+0816Egg Matthew is the reason that ISIS killed those reporters.

+ThisChannelHasNoContent That's why I don't agree with the statement "it was good, but not for me." If you didn't think it was good, just say so!
+BardicLiving the point is that especially in a comedy/action centered film you cant just say something was bad
When someone says, "It was good, but not for me," they ARE saying that it is good. It's like if someone bought you a $300 gourmet chocolate cake but you didn't like chocolate. To say it is bad is to be solipsistic and childish.
+ThisChannelHasNoContent how can mirrors be real if our eyes arent real?
+metasprite wow dats a gud point mine blone #420
Inside Out 2.
RATED R.
In the sequel, one of the characters is literally turned Inside Out.
+Joldsaway Hot.
+MCMLXXXIX We meet Puberty ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)
Anger bangs Joy and Disgust (Disgust being the one who screams the loudest) as Fear watches.

"This movie isn't my sense of humor 6/10" ... *cuts to gaming channel clip that is his sense of humor*.... /me scratches his head.... huh...
+Alexander Herlan He gave it a 6/10 mainly because the non-action scenes weren't executed creatively. The humor comment was just his personal enjoyment.
+Alexander Herlan Yeah, no, that's not at all what happened mate.
+Alexander Herlan He didn't like the movie that much and that's fine. He understood that the target demographic loved the movie and he appreciates that. In his review of amazing spiderman 2 he mentions that while he isn't a rhino fan, he's very pissed that the rhino was so prominent in the advertisements of the film while not being a character at all.
That had nothing to do with his rating
+Alexander Herlan
>"cuts to gaming channel clip that is his sense of humour."
fucking hell.
im probably the biggest deadpool fan ever and even i thought that "did i leave the stove on" joke was shit
Yea it was the kind of joke you've seen a million times if you spend a decent amount on the internet.
Would have been better if he came home later and it burned down.
This is gonna sound weird but I really love the thumbnails he chooses for the quickies, their just simple, nice shots that aren't the ones featured on every single poster and piece promotional material and dont have a shittonne of extra graphics which confuses you as to what the actual video is
lol k
+meme your comment was unneeded and didn't build upon the original topic
+Chewsephino lol k lmao
+movieguy43 Thanks for appreciating it.
+movieguy43 It's rare to find CZcams channels that don't have such obnoxious thumbnails, and even worse, video intros.
I can forgive Tim Miller on the cinematography area because this is his first time directing a full length feature film. I didn't expect him for knowing crazy ways to shoot a film and obviously It isn't fair to compare him to James Gunn since Gunns has numerous experience directing and producing even before Guardians. I understand where Adam is going on this and I agree to a certain degree, but for being a first time film Tim Miller nailed the fuck out of this movie!
Overall, Deadpool may not be my favorite Marvel film (that place belongs to Winter Soldier) but I have to admit that this is the best comic-to-movie adaptation in the WHOLE comic book superheroes genre. I know what I was getting into, I loved the character before and I now love him even more. Ryan Reynolds IS Deadpool.
Also even if I don't agree with you, I loved this quickie review Adam! :)
yeah i thought the Guardians comparison was rather unfair. i can see where it comes from (both are cult figures in comics and both are heavy on humour) but GotG is very true to the source materials whimsicalness and was always family friendly, Deadpool is for adults first and foremost and its refusal to take itself too seriously was what made the film for me
+Christian Gabriel I mean you do realize that most filmmakers that make their full length feature film has some basic understanding of cinematography and knowledge on how to make shot pop. He doesn't have to know how to make crazy shot, he has to envision that shot. If you give a past on his directing style because of his experience it means you haven't really understand what it's like to make a film. There director who make 5 films over a course of 10 years and still don't understand how to direct a shot or scene but you can have person who has study film and has never made a film before but yet can do it better because they have vision. Most of these Marvel or Superhero film (ironically coming from the guy named Ant-Man) aren't really the directors vision, it's more of the studios vision but through the eyes of a random director.
You don't need to have a 10 year resume to understand to not use standard coverage for every dialogue scene.
Wide shots are often the essence of comedy.
+SerenGetter Basically. Some people just don't understand I guess.
+Christian Gabriel Amazing how Tim Miller made a blockbuster movie and we're not allowed to criticize the cinematography. lol really?
When you rate something a 6 that means it's going to be a 8 or a 9 for me. thanks :D
Yeah... that sounds pretty accurate to me.
Unless it's a romantic comedy. Adam and I will normally shit on those until the end of time.
Does Lost in Translation count as a romantic comedy? What about Rushmore? Punch Drunk Love? Those are all good movies.
+Kanist Kane But Deadpool was a romantic comedy, didn't you see the advertisements ?
ᑭᗝ††ᕮᖇϟᓰᒪᒪᗩ ᔕᕮᖇᓰᕮᔕ **normally**
Kanist Kane I'm joking
Why is everyone calling this a Marvel film? It's Fox. You should be comparing it to Fantastic Four and the X-Men. Compared to them, this is the single most faithful film to come out of their studio, and it has everything to do with Ryan Reynolds.
Marvel is a comic book company
+OjikesShadow Didn't you see the Dr Evil images when he said "Marvel" movie?
"MARVEL" There was a picture of someone making " "
When I said "everyone", I was referring to the comment section. Not the singular person in the video.
+OjikesShadow The film has been released by FOX as they own the rights to the Deadpool Character, but it IS a Marvel Movie - There was some very tense negotiation to get the film done and Marvel are credited as a result...
So yeah, NOT a Marvel Studios Movie but still a Marvel Movie... If you see where I am coming from...
This movie almost made me forgive Fox for what they did to Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Almost.
The sequel made me forgive them.
Lol I Misspelled “sequel” as “sexual”
I liked it
@@samwinchester1326 To each their own.
Less to do with Fox are more to do with writers and director
Finally. The opinion of someone I can actually trust to review a meme movie.
[Adam likes it]
Welp that's it, I'm seeing it. One thing though...
"Constant fourth wall breaks"
That doesn't make a good Deadpool. Deadpool does break the fourth wall, but when done properly they're very sporadic and feel special, like some kinda treat. Daniel Way (aka Deadpool's worst writer) was the one obsessed with those.
+Unshaved Malevolence ive seen the movie and there is not really a lot of fourth wall breaking, there is a good amount that it does not become annoying
+Unshaved Malevolence aside from all the memes presented in deadpool, there is a good amount of visual comedy so that the comedy gets split for general audiences and hardcore deadpool fans
I can assure you that the way they break the Fourth Wall in this movie was handled perfectly! It isn't in your face, it was perfectly timed and uselful. And every time Deadpool joked about something it lands 100% right
Did he write the video game? Cuz it's FULL of fourth-wall breaks
+Unshaved Malevolence You're making the mistake of expecting super hero films to 100% adapt the source material faithfully. Even the best super hero movies just take the things people recognize from these comics and stretches them out to the extreme.
Although you're right, Waypool is pretty bad, and I find it weird how people love what he introduced into the series (Or rather bastardized it) but his additions become what the general public knew as Deadpool.
It'd be like Dan Slott's run being the inspiration for MCU'ss Spider-Man. It could be a good, non-terrible version of his style but it wouldn't change Spidey would be seen in his image, and that would fucking suck.
Does it bother anyone else that Deadpool is all the sudden everyones favorite Marvel character? Seriously, people who didn't even know who Deadpool was a year ago are acting like they've been lifetime fans all the sudden.
It's like that with anything hyper-mainstream. Hunger Games = Bow Lessons skyrocket. Twilight = Interest in vampires skyrocket. It's always like that.
Weird how can people have opinions on who to like.
Are you suggesting that people shouldn't like new characters just coz it'll burst your exclusive bubble?
+Alex Ritter take it easy hipster we all know you liked deadpool before anyone else did
why would it surprise you...should i not love something i just discovered? when you find new band with awesome songs you love them and its entirely ok and no different....should you not listen to some good new songs and love them if they are mainstream?its defferent if they contradict deadpool in their love saying he doesnt do sex jokes when he does..just let ppl enjoy
I'm just surprised it wasn't utter shit. Instead, it was a sort of qualified, beetle-rolled dung. You know, the kind that's had that finishing touch of strawberry flavor, made by a true virtuoso of the fecal arts.
Ummmm...yah I have no idea what ur talking about, u lost me
+Bryle D it stayed true to deadpool not sure what your expecting
+Bryle D i loved the comedy in it, and everyone else in the theater did as well, maybe you didnt watch the trailer, know about the character enough to see what your going to get out of this?
+Pizza Shark You sound like the usual french pseudo-intellectuals I tend to meet during social gatherings, trying to be eloquent and using vivid imagery but totally nonsensical.

+The T-800 goes back to the future to do something about Marty's kids and preventing the Army of 12 Monkeys pass their History class final exam.
Guardians of the Galaxy is probably one of the best comic book movies ever, or even in the action genre, because it's the type of movie where every single character felt human. The dialogue between the main heroes was always hilarious and upbeat and I wouldn't be surprised if they were inspired from real conversations with their friends. More movies need human characters like that.
I agree, everything feels so fun and real in that movie, it reminded me of the more character-driven blockbuster ADVENTURE movies from the 70s-80s. I love and respect movies that really nail comedy while staying relatively clean, and this movie does that really well. Just everything about the movie is incredibly enjoyable, even if the story is generic, it's just such a fun space adventure, the only really boring part is the villain
Well.. Starlord and Groot seemed like people at least.
uknownada Rocket is most definately a human
yeah but only one of them is a human. he is actually only even half human and the rest are a racoon, a green alien, a grey and red alien, a tree
Is the characters feeling human really a good thing when the characters aren't human?
There's going to be a LOT of Fanboyism surrounding this movie considering people like Chris Stuckerman and JeremyJahns giving it a perfect score...
The movie is out one fucking day and people are already calling it "overrated"
Stuckmann has shit opinions, and Jeremy Jahns cums all over any halfway decent comic book movie.
Why would anyone trust them to be sensible?
+Salokin Sekwah "Not really my thing" is not equal to "overrated." Adam himself said that it deserves the praise it's getting. Overrated to me is something that has no redeeming value but everyone's blind to said value or lack thereof. Plus, Stuckmann's opinion on things are solid, so yeah people would take a recommendation from him because he knows what he's saying.
Hey, i haven't seen it yet. i'm just doubtful its THAT good as some are calling it.
+MCruben3k Exactly.. It blows my mind that some people can't let go and have fun. Take the movie for what it is and enjoy the moment. Stop worrying about having an opinion that makes you feel smart. Stop trying to have an overly critical/cynical opinion of something that is popular JUST to stand out. Stop trying to subtly stroke your ego by being having the "NON FANBOY" reaction to something beloved by many. Don't let other critics shape your opinions, have a mind of your own.
Even though this review is more on the mediocre side, I'm glad you acknowledged the importance of this movie's success in sending a message to big studios not to shy away from an R rating. Especially when it's crucial to the source material.
Also the advertising for this movie was great, from "skullpoopl" to the misleading valentines day posters to deadpool's testicular cancer PSA encouraging you to play with your balls. It really went above and beyond your standard "clips from the movie" trailers. I'd love to see more ancillary content as promo material, especially for comedy films where every joke you give away in a trailer will fall slightly flatter in the film as a result.
Haven't seen it yet, so my opinion on its actual quality is still up in the air, but making this movie was a big experimental risk and I'm glad it's doing well on those grounds.
The comedy was gold, and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool was great. The action scenes were great. But the story was so formulaic and boring, I was hoping by a balls to the walls story. It's the best superhero movie this year so far, but it isn't saying much.
I agree, the story is something we've seen a million times before, but I forgive it because the movie is very self-aware with everything else.
teheyepatch I can't forgive it, but it's the second best superhero movie this year after Dr. Strange, which I also took problem with the story. But I'm excited for Deadpool's sequel, I hope they will go for a crazier story and that they will get rid of the love interest., or at least add death, which I don't know if it's possible.
what was really stupid was the deadpool plot was fueled by the fact they made him ugly.... its possibly the most whining self absorbed plot devices and it was totally serious no nit picking at the fact the low life deadpool was crying over how hes no longer a pretty boy

+Steven Spielberg
Well not everyone's as good a director as you, Steve.
+Steven Spielberg Ok Mr. Spielberg we get it you're the best and no one is like you. Alright.
he doesnt get a pass for it, but its a first time director.
+Steven Spielberg Thanks, Steven.
The best action is directed straight forward though and what was so bad about the cinematography? It fit the film they were going for
One thing I didn't liked was the villain, he was kinda lame.
Horacio Poggi well, how good could he be with a name like Francis
One of your best reviews in a very long time. You don't just nitpick insignificant technical faults or plot holes but you focus on the film as a whole. Great job!
Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to do these quick reviews. I really enjoy these.
I really appreciate the way he words this review. "I liked it but didn't enjoy it nearly as much as fans of the character will. If you love Deadpool as a character you'll love this movie." I really like that. He's not one of those asshats who takes his own word and opinion as law.
This is one of the reasons I love your reviews so much. Your ability to be objective is unmatched. Can always get a fair and honest review from you. Thanks dude.

Hey Adam, just wanted to say thanks for posting these quickies. Really looking forward to the upcoming reviews and I wish you all the best as you work your ass off to balance everything. Seriously, I don't know how you do it, you are the man.

Do you honestly think GotG would have been anything aside from PG-13 without restrictions? It's really bizarre that's what you criticize, never once did I think "Wow this could have been more explicit" while I was watching it. It's problems arent really related to that at all I think.
Yah guardians of the galaxy never felt held back by its rating to me, the style of humor in that movie was very clean and family-friendly, I actually prefer it to deadpool's style of humor, because, although I love Deadpool humor, it's rare to find a movie or any form of entertainment that does AS well as GOTG does with writing really funny, solid clean humor, so I really appreciate that about it
+Coolman Hahn Well I guess it's like Will Smith vs. Eminem.
+TheGermandude2 To me Guardians Of The Galaxy would have been better with an R rating, not because it's humor was held back but becasue a lot of the scenes were delivered dramaticly as if it was a kids movie. For example when the characters tell you exactly what's going on while the action is happening. And that kinda stuff really took me out of an otherwise great comedy film. Still a good movie overall, but it could have been more than that.
I get what he's saying. On paper when you hear superhero comedy with James Gunn, you think R rated. However in practice I don't think GotG was particularly held back at all, and honestly I feel it was probably better off for the restriction as it meant they had to get more inventive than just straight up saying fuck or talking about sex. It still had a blatant cum joke.
Alon Dotan Having an R-rating isn't going to change badly executed dramatic scenes though. Those scenes could have been better executed in the film without becoming an R. I think Adam just really missed the mark with that statement. I'm guessing maybe he misspoke and meant that GotG should have had the creative freedom Deadpool had, because as far as I know, Deadpool was a passion project.
Comedy is my biggest concern with this movie. Seems really juvenile.
Even though most of the jokes aren't "juvenile" If you aren't a fan of Deadpool's comedy you probably won't enjoy the movie.
That's kind of just deadpool's humor style. If u really don't like that then don't go see it, but keep in mind that deadpool is also known for his fourth-wall breaking and snarky comments, if that's more your taste. Like he said, enjoyment of the movie is based a lot around ur sense of humor, so depending on what that is you may not like it
+Christian Gabriel Good call. I disliked the film for the reason you stated.
+Davon85J Don't see it. That's pretty much all it is. Apparently that's the "Character" though.
+Davon85J I would say it's crude but not really juvenile. A lot of the jokes are actually very clever and subversive, despite their less than classy subject matter.
It seems the Deadpool fanboys are mad at your generous opinion of a 6/10 coming from a channel called 'YourMovieSucks'. Unless it's a 10/10 with nothing buy admiration for every detail and every second of the film, they probably won't be happy.
+Jedi Knight Well to be fair he gave The Revenant a 9/10 so he doesn't critique movies too harshly. I think most people were expecting a 7/10.
+Jedi Knight If you guys knew adam, you would know that he gives movies he loves a 7 out of 10
+Tomas Canevaro wich makes his whole rating system pretty strange
Max Powa would you rather he gave every movie he likes a 10, making his 10's meaningless
+Tomas Canevaro no and my anwser didnt implyd that so....
The Deadpool promos and commercials were funnier and more creative than the actual movie.

Congratulations you were the 100th channel I subscribed to
is a fan of deadpool i really agree with you about this one, i really really wanted to love this film, i was wearing one of my deadpool shirts (yes i have a few) i bout the deadpool themes popcorn and drink as was excited but when i finished watching it i wasnt disappointed but i got what i thought it was going to be. ok. i havnt listened to your rating yet but i would give it a 6.5/10 i like it and was satisfied but not much else
+Turtle Lord i felt the R rating(MA15+ here in australia) yould have done more, some of the violence felt like it was shy of going all out and didnt show all that gore but thats possibly a budget issue
+Turtle Lord So playing football with a severed head is "shy" in your book? Well... We have different standards I guess. And I'm sure that the sequel will be a lot better when it comes to those things, seeing as the movie raised 150 million in only a couple days.
akalion213 i felt about half of it was perfect, but i dunno some of the blade combat rubbed my the wrong way but i still thought it was a very good movie and i growing on me
You know a ass tone was broken and cut because of the budget right?
what!? I don't understand that comment
Personally loved it. I love the style of humor the movie has which helped me associate with the character and actually care about what was happening. I'm glad you got some enjoyment out of it.
dropping the slice as he reached for it was gold.
I loved the violence. The moment that guy went splat on the road sign at the beginning I was sold.
I found myself feeling very similarly, and your analysis of the rather bland shot composition helped solidify why I felt a little unsatisfied walking out of the movie. I definitely liked it and I'm glad it exists for Deadpool fans, but I didn't find myself 100% loving it or anything. I think part of it for me was the origin story and it's rather formulaic progression. Lots of good things throughout it, but a part of me was just wanting to get back to the main story because the general layout of his origin is extremely predictable even if you know the very basics about Deadpool(which is all I know, really). Really liked the final end credits scene though. Overall good movie, not sure I'll revisit it anytime soon though.
unfrended pt 2, where it at?

+OPEN MIND Thing is different people have different scales when using 1-10. Some use 5 as the average and therefore have half of their reviews below 5, others use higher numbers like 6 or 7 as their average so I don't think a score without an explanation is enough.
+Cebruz kp Ich denke nicht, dass das passieren wird :)

Adam uses 5 as average.
i might be the only one who didn't find deadpool that good. idk people seemed to worship it for some reason...(that's my opinion please don't get triggered)
1awlsusie
Nah, you're not the only one. I liked X-Men Apocalypse more than this, and even that was kind of crap, but at least it had the virtue of having a few interesting characters and creative scenes in it.
Hey I may love Deadpool (I won’t worship something so trivial) but please express your opinions I accept all criticism
I don't get "triggered" just because people don't like what I like. Chocolate cake still tastes good to me even in the presence of someone saying they don't like chocolate.
I don't think the movie was a cinematic masterpiece or anything, but it was funny and entertaining, and I enjoyed watching it while I was watching it. That's good enough for me.
Man in the Radiator it was just ok I’m not their audience
Same, I thought it was a mediocre film and I'm more of a fan of deadpool in the comics.
I love your reviews because you are so real and objective.
I didn't notice the lack of visual creativity during non action sequences because I was too busy laughing. But I did walk out thinking "That was an excellent lower budget film." which I now realise I can't put 2 and 2 together
A fair review, IMO. This just makes me more hype for it, tbh. Your reviews are always really refreshing, whether it's something you enjoy or something you hate. Thanks man!
If Marvel had the rights to Deadpool, they would had made this movie PG-13
you know what ths was honest as fuck. As huge Deadpool fan, I agree with this review. Now I loved the movie but seeing it through the eyes of the general audience I can see where it kinda fails. I like this.
Ty for making this. Nice to have something mainstream once in a while c:
I'm actually glad that you brought up the fact the slow-mo or the stillness of certain scenes go back to the comic medium. It's a stylistic choice I'd like to see adopted a bit more. Then again it might become a cliche. However, I'd probably still enjoy seeing it every now and then. I loved this movie and great review!
Deadpool 2 was better IMO, I feel like it improved on what the original was and it felt more like the producers cared
Well, you basically confirmed everything that I thought I'd think about the movie, so I'm probably gonna give it a pass.
Oh, I didn't even know that this movie was out. Thanks for letting me know it is! I'll have to find time to watch it and then come back to this video.
Thank you for mentioning Every Frame A Painting!
I enjoyed it, but I don't see me going out of my way to see it again. Other than that, my main issue with the film is knowing that it's going to inspire another new wave of the most insufferably obnoxious cosplayers possible.

This movie in a nutshell
lord of the manlet pit i mean its deadpool. if you knew anything about the character you could've avoided it.
i've never seen a marvel movie and i'm never into marvel or dc in general, but i absolutely loved it and love the humor and insanity that he has and i hope to see more marvel movies like this because i certainly enjoyed it.
I knew you'd talk about this soon enough.
I would really like to interview you
Hipster douchebagginess is not necessary here YMS. You shouldn't be surprised by what was shown. Deadpool being about extremes show extreme violence foiled by boring funny scenes. Provides great contrast. Only thing I didn't really like was mandatory love interest filler for ~30 minutes of the movie.
Hipster douchebagginess? Did we watch the same review? He gave it a good rating and said that he got what he expected.
Qwerty Qwertz I mean it in the way that he would never give it a 10/10 because he looks specifically for unconventional auteur cinematography that doens't exist in a non-indie action film.
+Dread Naught besides better cinematography, it could have had a better soundtrack, better performances, it could have been smarter... lacking in these areas in addition to the film's strengths like fight choreography, characters and creativity being done well rather than being done near-perfectly keep it at a fair 6... Compare it to another action film, The Raid and The Raid 2, they're serious instead of comedic, but they both have much better fight choreograpby, much, much, MUCH better cinematography and their soundtracks are fantastic - Adam gave them a 7. His ratings are fair and 6 and 7 are great for any action-comedy or action movie, since they're almost, always going to lack substance. (just how I see it)
+ThuggzBunney You're right, but the amount of refining and investment required would cost too much to ever get it to YMSs standards for a movie that's about a witty fuck boi.
Finally a review of this movie that I can relate to.
It's funny how I left my house, got on the bus, saw this video and it came to the point where I realized that I was unsure if I switched off the stove or not.

***** I just think that Deadpool "breaking the 4th wall" and being "completely original" and "the best anti hero ever" is complete bullshit in my opinion. But this movie genuinely looks funny as fuck and I have high expectations for it, and I can't wait to watch it.
+hllywd unded deadpool breaking the 4th wall bullshit? how is that possible because he does break the 4th wall in the comics so it isnt bullshit.
+EXPLOSIONS! becuase he takes the worst parts of spiderman and multiplies them 10 fold
lordDEMAXUS - It ain't that original or clever is all I'm saying, and I bet anyone with more than half a brain can see that.
hllywd unded the comics were more clever and more complex than the movie so i dont think the movie is a good start.
Your videos give me a better non-bias approach to watching movies! Thank you.
Thanks for the review. Can't wait for the rest of Unfriended, I really like your positive reviews, but I love your harshly critical reviews the most. I look forward to seeing where your channel takes you.
Side note: I thought you did awesome on screen junkies, even though you don't pander to blockbusters like they do. I thought you did great.
Cheers,

Saw "Deadpool". Throughly enjoyed it. However, I wanted to hear a non-gushing review of this movie; so I watched this and Grace Randolph's review. Holy moly the difference! You justified all of your negative aspects with thorough analysis, at times even referencing outside sources! Grace ended most of her negative comments with "you know?" or "I mean, c'mon". Not a whole lot of analysis. And when she started on about the "appealing to all audiences" thing. I 'noped' the fuck out of there. This video was a great antidote to that bucket of crazy. I could ramble on and continue to kiss your ass but I have pride, just appreciated the work that went into this!
I really don't think Guardians of the Galaxy needed to be rated R.
Hey Adam loved you in the Pizza Party Podcast and now I wanna see deadpool.
Another fantastic review! I for one can't wait to see this movie, and after watching this I can say I'm still just as excited. :) Keep you the great work Adam! And hope everything is going well in the move and whatnot, hope you have been at least in a place to keep warm each night!
Getting real tired of the continuous looping music and movie clips
+InDeepPudding it's adam's "quickie" format. he usually takes trailer footage and that's why there's so many loops.
+InDeepPudding Would you rather no video at all? Because that's most likely what we'll get if Adam uses proper footage from the film, if he manages to find it.
LeadAnchor
Honestly I would, the music doesn't really even fit his tone of voice, and the trailer clips make it look like there's something to watch so it hooks your eyes to the screen, but it's just the same clips over and over
He chose this song because it was used in the Deadpool trailer.
+Qwerty Qwertz
And in the actual movie itself
Adam, your reviews of bad movies is what brought me to this channel and what is basically keeping me here, but your actual taste in movies is really really not my cup of tea. You just have to take some movies by their entertainment value. Not all movies have to be Charlie Kaufman movies or Michael Haneke movies to be enjoyable. Youre biased to artsy movies Adam and it's bumming me out.
+Broesly Entertainment is fairly cheap and shallow, it has it's place, it has value, but it is very clearly and reasonably lacking in emotional and intellectual substance. Exceptional art lasts many generations, entertainment rarely lasts one, lives aren't changed from viscera, no one will see Deadpool and think about or understand themselves or the world around them any better... Art and entertainment both are valuable, but art very clearly resonates with people longer, has more of an effect on the world, and is far, far, far more difficult to do well. Art warrants more praise for the effect it has, and the work it demands of a creator, entertainment is just poking at your senses, it can be well-made as anything, but it's a one-note melody unless it reaches into deeper emotional or intellectual content... A song isn't better for being louder, faster and catchy-er; more entertaining... It's creative, expressive and complex pieces that challenge the artist and observer... If entertainment value is quality, than pornography is fantastic, because it invokes the most extreme positive reactions in the observer - that's the problem, for Adam, and many other people, the entertainment one finds is incredibly subjective, it's unfair to judge a movie based on common reaction, over formal qualities, good film making can enhance entertainment but most of exceptional film makers don't aim for entertainment, because it doesn't allow as much freedom to explore ideas in an unapologetic way, most serious topics aren't so entertaining to indulge...
Hopefully I'm being clear enough, please tell me if this only makes sense in my own mind, but intelligent content is more valuable than unintelligent content, emotional content is more valuable than emotionless content, so unintelligent and emotionless movies have to make up for it with fantastic dialogue, performances, blocking, costume, set design, sound effects and mixing, cinematography, music, pacing, unpredictability, creativity and (in the case of action) fight choreography and stunts; but most directors that want to make entertainment do not have a fraction of the talent necessary to make an emotionless, unintelligent film and genuinely great movie.
+ThuggzBunney to make an emotionless, unintelligent film into* a* genuinely great movie
+Broesly Not everyone's definition of "entertainment" or "enjoyable" are the same. For example, I would rather have ten flu shots than see a typical superhero movie. I'm not sure why you think people go to art films, but overall, I find them the most entertaining.
That said, I loved Pacific Rim, mostly loved Kingsman, and thought The Raid and The Raid II are two of the best films I've seen recently. And that's because they're excellent at being the kind of films they are, and the makers put a lot of heart and soul into them. Will Deadpool also break the mold? Film Brain was also lukewarm about it -- I'll have to see.
Why do people use "bias" in a negative way all the time? It's his opinion, and he shouldn't change it for anyone's sake.
Frankly, that's why I like him so much. He's unabashedly unique in his perspective, and if it differs from your own then that's fine!
Even then, he didn't bash Deadpool fans for liking it and actually told everyone to see it for its symbolic power as an R-rated comic book movie, sense of humor, and bombastic action scenes. A critic's job is to fairly judge a work of art while its in the spotlight but also bring their own tastes/personality to the review.
If you want a more entertainment-focused reviewer, I'd recommend WhatTheFlick, JeremyJahns, and DEFINITELY Chris Stuckmann.
+Broesly Sure, but he did say it was enjoyable, at 00:33. He did enjoy the movie, he just didn't think it lived up to its potential. I'd call that a fair review.
Very well done video :) I personally loved this movie, but as you said, I'm a fan of Deadpool so I knew what to expect going in the theatre and I wasn't disappointed
You have to give the director credit for hitting this off pretty well for his first feature length directorial debut
Ok a few things.
1. Deadpool is not the type of movie where you should be looking for extreme complex camera work and innovative exposition techniques
2. This movie had a SEVERELY smaller starting budget than GOTG and had 7 million more from that chopped off through production. Ryan Reynolds actually took a HUGE pay cut just so this movie could get off the ground he loved it that much.
3. You can't pull of the kinda visual or expository stuff you're explaining here on a movie that's been in development hell for several years on a drastically smaller budget when it could easily be shitcanned by the studio at any moment.
4. Would any of the additions you're suggesting even add anything to the movie besides "being different"?
Yeah the whole a camera be camera can be a little repetitive but there's a HUGE difference between being innovating and reinventing the wheel for no reason.
So I think the biggest concern here was to make an excellent DEADPOOL movie (especially in the dialogue), not a visually unnecessarily extravagant movie.
P.S. Past experience shows that Edgar Wright's Ant-Man would have been the exact same movie just with much faster editing cuts, dialogue, and possibly more pop music. The man is a very good director but he is not complex in his style.
Doing more than basic "shot, reverse shot", is not extreme complex camera work.
Just stop covering the scenes with the same angles.
why?
It would add absolutely nothing to the film.
Camera angles in the exposition/dialogue scenes of a DEADPOOL MOVIE is going to be the last concern. Especially with the production history of this project.
Because comedy is more than just talking heads.
A Deadpool movie should be able to convey humor visually. Dialogue scenes don't mean re-using close-ups or OTS shots.
+Ramjet94 You very obviously know absolutely nothing about film if you think Edgar Wright's direction is not complex... And every movie other than mockumentary is the type of movie that should have good cinematography, there's no type of movie that shouldn't have good visual storytelling.
+SerenGeti I don't know if you've watched the film, but it does convey a lot of humor visually. Freeze frames, voice over, things entering the frame for a punchline, breaking 4th wall in a flashback. I do agree that the movie tells most jokes through dialogue, but that's Deadpool, he's a smart ass. There's a reason why he is call "the merc with a mouth".
Your opinion does not align with mine unsub flag all videos dislike make fake account dislike again.
When the ad before the video is the deadpool trailer
Wow I really couldn't have agreed more, top work Adam
I really want to watch this but for some reason this review is kinda holding me back.
+Mapley Syrups I dunno did you like ant man? Pacing is somewhat similar (not exactly) and its a bit more crude and vulgar.
+Noize Didn't see it, sorry.
As its been said before, if you like deadpool you _will_ like this movie
+paloma I'll see it, as I'm a huge fan of the Deadpool franchise, but I am still pretty skeptical.
+Mapley Syrups You may want to just watch the movie. If you saw the ads for the movie and liked what you saw, you're very likely to enjoy the movie.
This movie was soooo overhyped lol
there seems to be quite a high level of pretentiousness in this comment section.
+CaptainPsychopath *every comment section
From whom? The snobby people who shrug it off just because it's a comic book movie or the fanboys who are crying and acting like 6/10 is a bad score.
from both sides really.
+CaptainPsychopath Let them fight!
At what point is 60% a good score? Sure it doesnt mean it's absolutely horrible, but you wouldnt e happy with a 60% mark on a test/project. 60% is "you got a few things right but there's a lot to be desired, try harder next time".
💙 Your channel and intro dude!
This is not a movie review. This is someone who admits to only buying the ticket because it was an "R" rated movie. He has no interest in the character, why the f-ck should we listen to him review a movie about said character. Go read your poorly written script somewhere else.
+Brian Whitney So my opinion stating that it's a great movie for Deadpool fans is invalid because I'm not a Deadpool fan? Is that not also the same opinion that Deadpool fans hold, or are you upset that I didn't call it an objectively perfect filmmaking marvel?
No
+Brian Whitney so the only people who can have a valid opinion on something are the people who already "care" before it's even started and are therefore inevitably going to like it? Is it not kind of refreshing to have an outside opinion from someone who had no bias or specific expectations from it?
Just because he isn't 100% positive about it, doesn't make it a worthless review
"Hi, I don't like the character this movie is based on. I don't like the premises of the film. I don't even like the genre. And I don't like anything about what makes the main character of the movie unique. I bought my ticket purely based on its rating.
Let me review it for you."
Who the f-ck cares what this guy has to say about it? He's admitted that he only went to see it because of its rating and that he wants Hollywood to make more R rated movies. He spent more time of his introduction discrediting his opinion about the movie itself than he did introducing the movie.
dude clearly you seem to care what he thinks since you're so mad about it. Its just one guy's review, calm down. just move on
I love how many parents brought their kids too see the movie, only for them too cover the kids eyes or explain the jokes.
I love being near Vancouver, it makes me feel special for some reason
That bridge from the opening scene, yeah. Definitely Vancouver.
"So I just saw Deadpool, and it was good" Aaaaand shutting the video off now, that's all I wanted to hear, I'll come back once I've watched the movie
The problem with Deadpool is that there will never be any sense of tension. He's invincible, so there's nothing to lose. Anything he DOES lose becomes the butt of a joke, or can be easily laughed away, though I suppose that's the point.
To be honest that's quite true, tension is very important in fight scenes and deadpools invincibility causes a severe lack of that. However I feel that the was definitely going for a comedy heavy approach and thus serious situations or tension don't fit in too well.
Well, that's why he can only work as a comedic character and never an action/dramatic one. But well, a comedy that uses that kind of character well can still be entertaining. However it makes the non-comedy bits really boring.
I saw it last week. Thumbs up here, gonna see again next week.
I for one LOVED the bullet hole consistencies that Adam talks about, except near the end of the movie Deadpool gets stabbed at one point, and you don't see the wound in the next shot. The wound comes back after a few more shots, but that one inconsistency really bothered me. Great film.
Soooo glad to hear this movie doesn't suck.
I don't remember the video but the "sense of humor" parts remind me of when you stood in the shower and stared at the camera with the strangest look on your face as the camera zoomed in.
That was the most objective, non-biased review of Deadpool I've seen. And you pretty much completely encapsulated what my thoughts are; seeing as it is kinda my sense of humour I'd give it a 7/10 but you can really tell that it's the director's first BIG movie. Hopefully the sequel will have a little MORE
How did I not see that YMS watched Pan Pizza
