This a good technique. I did some pomegranate starters like this in 2020 a while after seeing this video and I've managed to get them funky and twisted - especially low at the base, right out of the soil - and have no scars. Thanks for the inspiration. Let's get this Bonsai.
Wow!!!! I’ve been putting my wire through vinyl air house which has the same effect but this is easy peasy!!!!!! Subscribed. Happy bonsai my friend! So exciting to see american bonsai taking off. When I was an interested teenager, there were very little resources for info here.
Great idea, man. Especially, if as you say, the buds can pop through the tape. Seems like its also easier to remove compared to the traditional method.
Hello from Port Angeles! Just recently found your channel and have subscribed. I love seeing other people in my area on here. I haven't had a chance yet to scour your video catalogue, do you do many native PNW species?
@@BenBSeattle Lol, I'm still an extreme beginner and have managed to kill many trees so far. Luckily with my job I have access to tons of smaller native trees (mostly seedling size) that my clients don't want, so I have plenty to practice on.

Thanks for sharing your secret. The bends and the twists appeared natural. 3 thumbs up👍👍👍.... GrandMa Eva from the Philippines😊
Great tip
I like that way much better, thank you for the info sir
That’s an excellent tip! I always use grafting tape and put wire on outside. Never thought to wrap tape around wire!
Benches would look good along your fencing in the background
Great Idea, will be trying this method out on about 20 seedlings for sure.
great channel! would love to see how you start your trident maple seeds.
Thanks. I like that idea of wiring that won’t create marks.
That's a really great trick. Thanks very much!

Grafting tape is built to allow for buds to break through
Did you just lay the wire without wrapping it and then wrapped the grafting tape around?
I’d love to see an update of your in ground figs this year :)
Bro ur back yard is coverd lol I love it
Who knew there was another option in wiring. Thanks
Love the apron 😂
You should do what you did to the front of bench to the back. Put best trees on front and middle
Lovely Man U got a new subscriber
Sound like your bit was pz2 but should have been ph2 but i realy like your bench it looks nice
Good idea!
Awesome idea. Thanks for the tip. Now I just need to find a shop that sells it here in Australia 🤔
grafting tape is sold at any nursery or Bunnings etc.

What type of wood did you use for the bench?
I have watched a lot of your videos but I don't remember what your potting soil is made of?
Smart! I think this could be a modern way of bending.. ;)
Will please give ma link or where to purchase the debarker tool? Thank you for your help.
What about raffia.
it could work but raffia wont allow for buds to break through

Should I remove the bottom leaves before I wrap the branch to the wire?
I would leave them on and wrap around it low branches are very useful later on bonsai
New to the channel. Great video. I was wondering where you buy most of your maple seeds from? Thanks.
Ben do these pop back up as new videos when they are released? Be safe bud
What type of tape did you use? Thanks
Can this also be done with bougainvillea?
How old was that finished sample tree?
After you blend it , how long do you keep it in the pot before you put it in the ground ?
Depends, If there's ground space right away.
Where is the giant sequoia?
The content starts at 4:00

Where do you get your net baskets? Thanks!
Their for pond plants. But also used for training pots for bonsai. Any aquatic store or online store such as amazon should have them.

Oh great... A construction video disguised as a bonsai trading vid
