Great teaching points for of us new to Bonsai and trying to manage our dollars against trees, soils, tools, fertilizers and most expensive pots...I started with Mame's and have found suitable receptacles/pots for reasonable prices from thrift stores, antique shops, flea markets and garage sales. On occasion you can pick what is a real Bonsai pot or stumble onto nice looking pots that you can use...Thanks for sharing...

I noticed you didn’t use rooting hormone. Is it not necessary? Would it work with diospyros virginiana/American persimmon?

I have terrible rocky clay ground with no top soil. Very hard to dig and not nutritious. Do I just go for really big pots instead? Ideas anyone?

I stayed in China for a year 2011-2012 and ate gobs of yangmei, especially in the south. I couldn't get enough of them. Though I remember them being bigger than the ones in this video - more like golf ball size.

It might be a lack of proper fertilizer because a pinch of Epsom in 5 gallon is not enough. In my typical hydroponic setup when I'm mixing solution, it's 1 teaspoon per 5 gallon of water. But that's just for Epsom, who knows what else is missing lol 😅😅

Really impressed. Great video. Would be great to see what it is like 2 years on. Question: I have a rather large cherry tree planted in the garden proper that has been allow to grow and grow. I know I may not get the typical bonsai root, but could I prune it in the same way you did to get the your tree to shape?

I’m a brand new fig collector and my first year and Olympia is the only figs that I’m hoping to harvest. I noticed them on the potted plant July 8 is when the fig lets appeared so here in So Maine hoping by early September doesthat seem right for ripening?

I've seen a ton of videos on drilling, but no one ever mentions or shows adding feet. Greatly appreciate this video / you being thorough.

I've also propagated plum, kumquat, orange, lemon and grapefruit trees that way. They bear fruit the following year. It works with most trees.

I saw both video reviews. Sounds like you enjoyed the Moroc 23 breba more than the main crop. 😆 From the research I have done - this fig performs much better in the South and I mean it totally transforms into a wonderful berry fig with more heat.

This breba looks above average. Let's remember that brebas are usually not better than main crop.

Seems like many people want to cheat at bonsai. They want it so bad, theyll do anything to appear to be a bonsai man. Am I crazy or are tons of people digging ugly tree stumps out of the ground and calling them bonsai? A giant hideous leader wound, and other wounds proving the bonsai is more of a demented freak bush than an actual bonsai. It concerns me that more people arent calling out the difference

What would you substitute the Spagnum moss with?

Are the breba fig buds visible in the winter months or do they only show up in the spring? I.e., do the breba figs start forming in the late fall or only in the spring? Thanks!

Your Izbat doesn't look like the ones showcased by other reviewers. The neck is too thick and the fruit should be stubby round.

I have 2 trident maples placed in about a 100L container one is sitting on a old rooting tile that one was put an a 20L pot and forgotten about for 4 years roots grew into the ground definitely helped
