For those having a problem with no virtual keyboard - do this!
Go to Settings > System > Language & input > Physical Keyboard > Turn on Show Virtual Keyboard
Excellent Tip Gerald. Indeed, keyboard was no longer working. Good to add: skip all steps (e.g. connecting to Wifi) at the start, then follow your tip, then connect to Wifi, Google, etc.

Thank you for this, it worked, new life to my old Galaxy Note 10. For those with a MISSING onscreen KEYBOARD, this worked for me: Go to System - Language&Input- physical keyboard, then slide the button on for 'show virtual keyboard'.

I just wanted to tell you how grateful I'm that you didn't skip the backup part. Thanks to you, I was able to restore it back to stock rom (which I was having trouble finding the right one!). Thanks again for teaching me importance of backing up the whole system before flashing! ^^

I ended up backing up everything to a spare SD card just in case. I followed these instructions and the first thing my tabled did was format the Sd card when the OS started up, glad i saved everything first separately!

My only (very, very minor) complaint is that I ordered this in bronze and they sent me black. Yes, it should have been corrected, but we were only in country for a short period of time and I didn't want to run the risk of not getting a new one in time. I'm such a fan of Samsung Galaxy tablets that I'd rather suck it up than lose out on having it. In the big scheme of things, this rates an irritant factor of .0000000001 out of 1000. In other words, I'm not looking at the colors when I use it, so I got over it very easily.

At 10:57 when click to open brown TWRP Folder to paste copy of lineage and open_gapps, I notice I don’t already have the white twrps file 1.00 kb there???
Then fast-forward to 12:40 when doing the second step to swipe to confirm flash of open_gapps, it paused around 13:29 and don’t continue, showing a different layout like it says Gigantic OPEN GAPPS and "installing core gapps and tablet shut off. Can’t seem to pass this step. I’m think I’m missing that extra white twrp file on 12:40.
I’m clueless and to make things worse, after successfully following all the steps to this point that I’m sure didn’t miss a step, now my tablet doesn’t recognize to even take charge like it use because of the possibility these steps to erase so many instructions, like the instruction to take charge.
I know this may be a loss cause already because of an old Samsung tablet. But I hate to trash a perfectly new barely use for years / old scratch-less tablet that could be useful and not go into the dumpster or dumpsite.
Any suggestions from successful nostalgic Samsung Tablet users???

Thank you so much, I thought my old tablet is completely useless, but it's working now. I had a problem with the keyboard, but I used the tip from the comments below: Settings > System > Language & input > Physical Keyboard > Turn on Show Virtual Keyboard.

I tried on N8000 with its related TWRP and Root file. Works fine but the Spen and Samsung eye detection feature does not work anymore. Any suggestions?
thqnk you so much!!! it worked perfectly, if you follow the exact steps, and before you do this save your personal files, and do a factory reset , and then follow how he says and it works, then you have to activate the keyboard in the language times/ language & input / physical keyboard and activate show virtual keyboard

This is a wonderful Tutorial because I could revitalize my aging NT-8010 with Android 9. My whole familie is pleased with all the previous apps, especially CZcams. What I found quite tedious is that I haven't figured out how to control the brightness for a long time. I had to use a magnifying glass to find out how, because the display was so dark! Thank you so much!

@Orenda Gezellig You will need to find the N8000 version of twrp, Lineage OS, and Gapps. The other stuff is the same since its for your computer to connect to a Samsung device.

@@littlegeniuskids I just re-did the exercise (except the backup bit). Somewhere down near the end of the task is the ability to connect the keyboard (forget exactly where), and you need to READ THAT CLOSELY (because I didn't first time)

Ivan, well done giving a perfect explanation on "How To" upgrade. I used all your files for GT N8000 ( Vers. 4.42 ) and it works. Question, it it the same procedure to upgrade to Lineaos 18 or 19 (Android 11 or 12 )?
did you use the same file ?? I have GT N8000 too but I think the Odin 3 did not recognize my samsung tablet ? what to do ?
I applied the flash to a GT-N8000, it's works just fine. Although on the OS level the device is recognised as a GT-N8010, so cellular 3G may not work. I haven't checked this, as I only use wifi. Completely usable though, give it a crack!
Does anyone have any bateries issues? My one takes almost one day 24hrs to charge full. I tested and batery, cable and wall charge is OK. Could it be the kernel? thank you very much!
Get original charger, am experiencing the same but I saw on CZcams that its because of the wrong charger been used
Buy a new battery
Apart from the original charger, I have used my s20fe charger with good results. So try another Samsung charger if you can.
What the fuck 24hrs 💀💀💀 change your charger and sell your tablet mate it's come to it's end
Mine have the exact same problem but the thing is battery lasts very long (it lasts for at least 3 days) but it takes waaaaay to long to charge. I’m using the original charger i also tried other chargers but nope it doesn’t work.

bueno pues funcionó ... sin embargo encontré esto:
1° No me funcionaba el USB driver, así que tuve que buscar otro en google. Luego seguir los mismos pasos.
2° Mi tablet tiene malogrado para poner la micro tarjeta SD, entonces decidí no hacer el "backup" y por suerte no hubo problemas.
3° Se descargo el zip. de linage y luego tocaba el open_gapps PERO no funcionaba; aparecía que no era compatible. :(. Recordé que había otro video parecido a este donde ponía otros links de los archivos (no lo vi ya que no lo explicaba tan bien como este men a mi parecer). Así que use ese link, descargue, instalé y ... funcionó :D.
Me demoré 5 horas :O, y valió la pena. Gracias por el video tutorial.

Thank you! I was able to revive an old NT-8013. I thought old tablets are useless because I cannot download and update some apps such as CZcams. Now, at least I could use this for videos and reading pdf files.

S-pen features are not work and the pen works as like as finger.
Charging time is too long.
Sound is too low.
is there no way the pen being detected as a pen?

@@tarunyaduwanshi1393 I have followed the manual, but used the older version Lineage-14.1 (an analogue of of Android 7.1) and a corresponding set of Google apps (open_gapps-arm-7.1-pico).

@@IIIIKaroIIII No lo sé, pero debe haber instrucciones específicas para la 8013, porque en alguna búsqueda me encontré con procedimientos para la 8010. Lo que sí es importante es bajarte los archivos para Odín específicos para cada modelo

found a regedit that got the pgms to run. was having a uac block. also wasn't using oem usb charging cable which caused an odd issue with pc validating the usb device, but after all that, this update has given new life to my old samsung tablet and I want to thank you. Brilliant explanation, just one complaint-i got it working only to have no keyboard input😩took me a bit of messing around to find out how to turn it on. You have to go into accessibility settings and turn on the virtual keyboard. Once i had that sorted was stoked as i have breathed new life into an 11 yr old tablet👍

The best video I saw. The only thing I faced is that the virtual keyboard did not appear at the set up phase and I had to continue android set up without connecting to the internet. Then I went to the "keyboard setup" in the system settings and tried to add another keyboard. It worked fine. My tablet has been revived again.

I really didn't think that this was going to work. But the step-by-step/click-by-click instructions were extremely helpful. I had an issue with no keyboard, but the comments below helped. Now my only issue is that Google Play Store is not showing Samsung Notes app. And that was really the only app I needed on this tablet :( I will continue to explore, but at last, the tablet can be used.
6 hour later: I am realizing now that while the tablet is usable, it can really only be used for basic tablet functionality. I really wanted to use a digital planner with annotations function, but no matter what, I can't find an app to make it work. S-pen is now just a poorly calibrated stylus. I am writing this here to not be rude in anyway, bur rather to give headsup to people who want to use it for the functionality that I was looking for. I am still grateful that the tablet can at least be used - to watch CZcams, Prime Video etc, just not as a Samsung Tablet with S-pen. I will try tomorrow morning and see if annotations will work better with a generic stylus versus an S-pen.

Thanks for this, I was using my tablet for art with the stylus. I was gonna do this, but now knowing that this update will mess up the pen function, I’m certainly not gonna need it.

Hi...... I have the N8000 also but cannot install the entire driver because the install wizard gets about 3/4 of the way through then fails. Any suggestions, Thanks
If anyone has issues installing the Samsung USB driver and get the your administrator has blocked you from running this app. Just open command prompt as administrator and browse to the file location and run the exe from there.

This worked for me but now I have a problem. I used the Kindle app on the old Android version but since this upgrade the app no longer works. I have sent several reports to Amazon Kindle on this failure but they don't come back on it. Do you have any ideas?

Hi ivan, I have one of these tablets, with very similar problems.. however, if I click the you tube app, the message I get is ‘check network connection’. There is no problem using the samsung internet browser, and I can browse the the net. Which is where I found your video. If I try to watch the vid it messages me about the network. Any ideas?
