  • Travis is a musician living in Pikangikum, ON, and in this video, he remembered the moment when he first laid hands on a guitar, describing how music has been a steadfast companion throughout his life's journey.
Travis also addresses the challenges he faced during his youth, including struggles with misguided peers and the dangerous allure for young people of gas sniffing. Motivated by a genuine desire to make a positive impact, he expresses his heartfelt wish to impart the transformative power of music to those facing similar hardships. Travis believes that by sharing his passion, he can inspire young individuals to discover purpose and direction in their lives through the universal language of music.

In April 2023, Isorine Marc (Jamii's Alchemist) and photographer & videographer Gillian Mapp traveled to Pikangikum First Nation, ON Canada, for the 4th time since 2018. This visit to Pikangikum intended to shine a spotlight on the emerging and talented artists of the community, as well as community leaders and Elders. May their stories and voices be heard.
We are incredibly grateful for the support of art teacher Vanessa Hazel at Eenchokay Birchstick School, who was instrumental in supporting us through this project. Thank you to Eenchokay Birchstick School and the Pikangikum Education Authority for supporting this project and to Pikangikum for welcoming us into the community.
With the support of the Ontario Arts Council.

Ah, man, I have a Gretsch Special Jet plugged into a Vox AC4 in my spare bedroom that hasn't been touched in weeks. After watching this I need to go turn it on and keep practicing. Thanks for the lift.
