A group of bright minds at Caltech invented the 'toilet of the future' that could save lives. For more CNN videos, visit our site at www.cnn.com/video/
Better technology for the basic human needs is always a huge plus. Glad to see inventions that could be used in every household moving towards a safer environment for everyone.
This is a popular topic right now! I just finished reading (and loved) Ruth Cardello's latest book and she covers this topic as well. Rise of the Billionaire. I didn't realize it was such an issue until I read her book. Now I'm thinking maybe we have a real toilet problem!
I agree with you about the cost, but Africa is a continent and has many countries on it. Africa isn't poor as a continent. It's filled with all sorts of resources that are controlled by some less than fair types of characters at the expense of it's common people, which is why not all their countries have political stability. Egypt is an example. Ethiopia's timber exports caused a food shortage and desertification of the land, which caused a food crisis. Recently they've reclaimed their desert.
great, so some Genius would rather talk about his accent than appreciate the new tech he has developed. Not everyone speak English in the world and not everyone has similar accent.
This takes too many things to make one unit work. I live Canada, and I can't afford a toilet that needs to be plugged in. So how can anyone else. If this is an idea for the third world, their problem is over population and limited education of their water supply. A compost toilet I can make from a used toilet bowl for next to nothing in cost, or I can pipe the water in a tube to a controlled compost grow bin for a lot cheaper than this. This idea is stupid and the student should ask for a refund
He's in Caltech because he is smart. How about you try to live in his country and speak his language, before you comment, huh? It's ridiculous comments like this that make the rest of the world mock Americans.

That´s the way to go, better technology for basic human needs, as pointed out by Benson! Congrats, bright minds of Caltech!
Wow nice!

This isn't better tech. This is over thinking an idea that's simple to solve. By definition, this idea is stupid.
