The third episode of Disney’s The Acolyte is an embarrassment to the entire franchise, though the same could be said for so much Star Wars these days outside of Andor and the first two seasons of The Mandalorian.
I want to ask Disney the same question: What have you done?
This entire episode is a bad joke. We learn that Mae and Osha lived with their mothers in a society of witches, all of whom are female. It appears they were conceived using the Force. Or something. Force-using witches are also apparently frowned upon in this galaxy. They call the Force, the Thread. I’m getting Dark Side vibes here, though I’m also getting the sense that this show will try to be all edgy and make the Jedi out to be the bad guys. Which we’ve seen play out about half a dozen times at this point.

Disney thinks they can buy an IP - essentially buying a "story" - then surgically change the themes of the story to support a new story, then claim it's still the same story. They thought buying an IP would somehow make blockbusters a synch.
Remember how "Aliens" was a great sequel to visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott's "Alien"? Aliens came from a time when great sequels were almost unheard of. But it wasn't made by a corporation with data sheets and executives with delusions of artistic vision; it was made by an equally great visionary auteur, James Cameron.
It doesn't matter how much data you gather over time, fellas, executives, etc, will never have vision EVER.

I saw Star Wars in the theater when I was 13 in 1977. I enjoyed them all up through The Last Jedi. Being an old man now, I understood how Luke was depicted in Ep 8. Like Obi Wan, Yoda, and Luke, us old guys all made mistakes along the way that make us want to withdraw. That being said, this new Star Wars is misguided garbage from people who are mentally ill and want to drag us into their sickness.
With all respect you are most likely no Yoda, Obi, or even Skywalker. I suspect you are part of the problem that made Disney go this far because you applauded the dawn fall of these heroes so you could feel liberated from guilt. The feminists have cut your balls off and instead of reclaiming them with renewed wisdom you look in apathy when boys are being mentally castrated through these so called SW shows and movies.

If Nelson Peltz hadn’t sold off his stock he might have been able to do that. @qubex I hated Anbore. I gave it 3 episodes and gave up. If you can't get me to care in 120 minutes, you don't get any more! I would take Solo over Andor, even though it is crap. At least Ron Howard tried. If Kennedy hadn't screwed it up. And I count the first 2 seasons of The Mandolorian. Before Kennedy screwed that up, too! I liked Rebels and the Bad Batch, so I got Ahsoka, but too many didn't. And you needed that to get it. It was basically Rebels Live Action.

I’m 52 years old. I grew up with Star Wars. I collected the cards. My mom bought me a T47 Air Speeder for Christmas. Fast forwarding to 2015, I was looking forward to the Force Awakens because of Luke Skywalker. I always pictured him as the most powerful Jedi after episode 6. I did enjoy the Force Awakens (even though Rey was a Mary Sue) When the Last Jedi dropped, I also dropped to the ground with great disappointment (that’s a understatement) It wasn’t Star Wars at all. I was hoping to see Luke take out all those AT-AT’s in the end, but Disney had something else in mind. Their intentions from the beginning was to bury episodes 1-6, and replace it with feminism and woke. They finally managed to do that with the Acolyte. I haven’t seen it, and I’ll never see it. As a Christian, I’m also looking at this with an unpopular perspective. This nonsense that’s happening is basically Disney bashing manhood because God created man. Christianity is an exclusive club, and Disney (and other companies like them) want to do the opposite by creating an inclusive world for anyone to do whatever. That’s whats really going on nowadays in my opinion. I rather keep the old Star Wars alive in my heart. Disney and their supporters can keep their modern perversion. It’s straight up dung. I’m 50 years old. Remember watching Star Wars on VHS tape every day for a whole summer. Had a room in my house literally called the Star Wars room because of the toys we played with there. Was really disappointed by Episodes 1-3. Actually liked 7-9 better. And The Acolyte has been very enjoyable to me so far. Find it very odd how people are seeing these as a threat to their gender, race, or sexuality.

Leslye Headland said she specifically wrote this show starting back in 2019/2020 for Amandla Stenberg to play Osha/Mae and Stenberg's biggest role up to this was in "The Hate U Give", which is about the police shooting a black person in a black neighborhood. If you replace the term "Jedi" with "cops" in the Acolyte, it becomes blatantly obvious this will be about the Jedi/Cops abusing their power and being responsible for the death of the coven of witches, either through the Jedi's negligence or use of excessive "Force". This whole show will turn out to be a BLM allegory and showing how the Jedi/cops are not always the good people they're portrayed to be and can sometimes actually be the bad people. It's such a joke and so damn stupid.

This is the embodiment of the “conflict theory” of society btw. “Conflict theory” is a viewpoint embraced in sociology informed by Marxist theory. It argues that all human interaction boils down to oppressed and oppressor.
This is prominent among folks with “progressive” (actually regressive) world views where the primary question is “who has power?” and then the follow up is “how can that power be challenged/destroyed?” This world view informs things like attempting to define racism as prejudice plus power (it's just predjudice and power has nothing to do with it but they are doomer personified examples of the Dunning-Krueger effect who erroneously assume everyone but them are stupid and/or evil).
It’s extremely dangerous because it permits people who perceive themselves to be "oppressed" to take any and all actions against their perceived "oppressors". Obviously as that's what has been happening everywhere since about 2014 when gamergate/comicsgate started.

A.I.s can't "understand" these things (logos, ethos, and pathos) because they can't actually think like a human, they can only emulate us. That's why they can create nice paintings sometimes, cuz it's a highly subjective art form and ppl project those things onto it (which modern art shows us every day smh lol) but they can't write good fiction, or comedy for that matter.

Being indifferent to Star Wars, as a baseline, will save you a LOT of wear and tear. Everything else is just a matter of making sure you don't waste any more money on these sorts of things.
What could’ve been:
✅ Sith perspective story.
✅ Mature and grounded story similar to Andor but with the mysticism of the Dark Side.
✅ Well-written Sith protagonists part of a two-person organization in a thousand-year conspiracy to insert the Galactic status-quo .
✅ New Star Wars timeline.
Reality:
❌ The Acolyte…. “The power of one, the power of two. The power of many.”
What people need to focus on is that beyond a few light sabers and some characters called Jedi, this shares nothing with Star Wars. This is its own universe with its own magic and history.

Star Wars, as it once was, is dead. It's not coming back. The powers that be at Disney are too entrenched in their current iteration of the brand to change course. Nor do they want to. This series is exactly what they intended it to be. This is the course they've set for the future of the franchise.
This is not for us. It is for a new audience, one that knows little to nothing about Star Wars apart from the name. It is effectively a new IP-a reimagining and rebooting of the original.
The past has died. Disney killed it, and this is the phoenix rising from the ashes. If you want Star Wars going forward, this is what you'll have to embrace.

A Star Wars show not for Star Wars fans. What could go wrong?
Shmi Skywalker is going be a coven witch too, I am almost certain that is where they were going with Season 2. Maybe Anakin had a twin sister that followed the wise witch mother, not the internalized mysogynists one that landed in slavery.
The only redeeming part of the episode was when all the witches died and therefore writes them out of any further shows. I swear if they try and make ‘thread ghosts’ a thing I will hunt the writers.
Oh, no no. See, it was always my fault. As a 50 year old white male, I was born toxic. Can not help, it is what it is. For instance, even a kid, I remember storming out Empire Strikes Back, loudly complaining about a gay robot, a black guy and a bossy princess. So for me nothing changed.
I can't help but think that opening opinion/rant would be rated as Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
