Saw both of these cars and others at a wheel stand event at US30 drag strip in Gary Indiana in the late 60s when I was 10 years old. That day had such an impact on me it literally changed my life. I’ve been addicted to muscle cars ever since. Thank you Bill Maverick and Bob Wriggle rest in peace brothers.
I had the pleasure of seeing these guys as well as the LA Dart at the International Speedway in Houston Texas in the 1960s....My dad raced a 1955 Chev there !
Me too, my first drag race my brother took me to it I was in first grade. Right here about 3 miles from where I currently live now where the race track used to be in the Dickinson league city area
Had the privilege to see both cars at separate times in the mid 1960's at the old Okla.City. Sand Valley Drag Strip. They always put on a great show. Miss those old times with my late Dad.
Wow, the memories growing up as a teen seeing things like that. Because my father knew many of the racers that would become very famous we spent allot of time in the pits. I have a picture of me at 6 years old sitting in Don Garlits Rail. Very cool at that age.
I was sitting the bleachers at O.C.I.R. Long time ago he I under glass was doing 1/4 mile wheel stand I said to my mom "look his wheels r turned" when he came down he went right into guard rail,never forget it
As a teen and crewman on my uncles race car , fan of to fuel these guys were my hero’s ! I could be at home in Gary listening who was running and tell you which car was up ! When the Hurst Hemi Under Glass was up the little RedWagon was up
Got to see "Wild" Bill at Irwindale and talk to him about learning to drive with real wheel individual braking. Something they don't teach in HS drivers training.😄
The old days racing is the best racing to date. The NHRA/IHRA has killed the sport. Racers are trying to salvage the sport by "street racing" but it is all legal and just TV shows.

I made a slot car with the dragster model Terranchal that had a long track guide pin hinged back near the rear wheels that allowed it to do wheelies
I like both wheel standers l had a 65 Chevy van so short it had no side doors, with a V 8 small block engine it could do wheelies
Mark Holmgren I had a 64 Chevy van and if I stood on the brakes going slightly downhill I could swing the whole ass end around off the ground.😜
