      I was in a dodge grand CV with 5 seniors at work once. We would all get in a van and drive all over the region to pick up and redistribute cars for different branches of a rental car company. The 83 year old at the wheel (and every passanger) had fallen asleep on the highway (going about 60mph). I noticed he changed lanes for no reason and continued to drift to the left even after the lane change (it all happened within 1 second.) I shouted "wake up!" And everyone startled awake. The driver realized what was happening as our left wheels started to enter the dirt on the left shoulder. He proceeded to rip the wheel to the right, just managing to get us out of the ditch, but the we started swerving. After a back and forth battle trying to get the back end to settle down (probably swerved back and forth 3-4 times) he lost it off the right side of the road and we started rolling. 3-5 rolls according to witness who were driving a short distance behind. Everyone survived with a small scratch on the front passangers hand being the worst of it.
      Seniors (and 2016 or newer Dodge GCVs) are tough as heck.

      @theranter Před 8 lety +5

      Yes, there are people who are "globalists"... They seek to erase the borders of nations, and establish a world government that will dictate the laws for everyone. There's more to them than that, but in regards to the EU, that's where they come in... The EU was just a small step in their plan to establish a World Government. They tried to create a "North American Union" and create a currency called the "Amero" here in North America, and they failed to carry it out because too many people caught on to what they were trying to do... They wanted to erase the borders between Canada, Mexico and the United States, and create a EU like government for North America. They also want/wanted to create an Asian Union, Oceanic Union, and an African Union. The plan was to create these, undermine the power of the governments in each country, and then merge all of these "Unions" into one unified "Union" under the control of a world government.
      Just because you don't believe it, doesn't mean it isn't true.

      Philip Emanuele its front suspension is setup for keeping the car in a straight line when going down the strip when you try to turn going that fast you end up under steering and the momentum shifts to where it can forcing the car to flip. Mainly because the front wheels point in at the bottom like \-/ a track car would have camber like /-\. As you can see the narrower wheel base makes it easier to flip.

    They hit a dip in the parking lot at 3:09 The low pressure sticky drag tires turned into giant beach balls and kicked the back end out. He overcorrected too much and the narrow front wheels caught the pavement sideways and flipped it.
    At that speed these cars only do one thing: go straight. Doing that in a uneven parking lot with no room at all to brake or coast down to a stop was pretty poor thinking for an alleged racing driver. They should have taken it to a proper dragstrip which wouldn't have been too hard since they were already in the pits of a racetrack.

    All these people saying he turned which wrecked it. Answer two questions: 1. What direction did the car turn? LEFT. 2. What direction did he turn the wheel? RIGHT. He didn’t turn the car left, the rear wheels LEFT THE GROUND after a bump and started rotating the car left with all the weight transfer. He countersteered like he should have to correct, but you can’t account for a high center of gravity and drag tires folding under in a slide, hence the roll over. Upvote this if you’re tired of seeing incompetent comments.

    • @reedstemen
      @reedstemen Před 6 lety +15

      Here’s an ever further breakdown for people who don’t understand. Driver wants to go straight the entire time. Front wheels down, ramp bump in lot, rear wheel off ground and back end transitions left (as seen by left rear tires folding under in video), back end snap steers right uncontrollably initiating essentially a drift, driver counter steers to RIGHT obviously to attempt stopping slide but it’s too late. Also, the cement barriers have nothing to do with the situation. He was not avoiding them because he was not near the barriers, which can’t be perceived on camera.

      That car is made to go in ONE direction, that's forward. To me he was running out of room, chassis was all upset, and he tried to turn it. Skinnies up front w/no weight, slicks in the rear low on air, and a high center of rearward gravity.

      Roll cage is a life saver. As a hobby rally driver for the last 16 years it has saved me many times. Can't express my self enough on how important a properly welded, well made roll bar is when the chance of crashing is high. I went off the road straight into the forest while in the Scandia Class 4 Rally here in Sweden and rolled my car 6 times. In 120km/h.. Only had a few scratches and some bruising but without the cage, well that would have been bad. And yeah no safety net on the window makes my stomach hurt, I know from experience what can happen. Even if you tuck in hard the force of the crash can force your arms around. A net will keep it from getting crushed.

      At that speed the car itself is strong enough, at higher speeds the cage is sure needed though.
      Drag tyres often get the bounces on a drag strip yet alone a track infield.
      Looks like Bob needs to find another early Cuda shell.
