hey man, thanks for the video...I just installed this one on my 2017 RGS and it feels great... I bought it because I'm driving to Sturgis this year instead of trailering and wanted to not have a tired sore back when I get there. High fives from the DAWG in Columbia, Missouri.
I have a similar one. My wife has a Harley brand one on her bike and while it is much better, you get the backrest and bracket for half the cost of just the bracket from Harley. Hers has an adjustment cable that you can adjust with the seat on though. I like the bag on the back. I run my heated gear wires from the battery up through the seat hole and store them inside the bag when not in use.

Love the page video was great. Until I started install on my 05 ultra. So many differences. But the video help me out a tons. Just a few home depot nut and bolt runs. Cause all the nuts and bolts supplied are useless...
This backrest is not comfortable on long trips! It’s better than nothing. But it’s too short and narrow for comfort. If you are thinking about a backrest get a wider And taller one! Good video and clean motorcycle
Handy video. Got one which looks identical to this from a company in Germany. No instructions and the same short bolt was missing lol. Got back problems but Harley just want stupid money for one plus the installation kit,so try a cheaper one first.
What's the final verdict on that after market seat....I was looking to get one but didn't want to spend a ton of money....I also wanted to ask what type of windshield you have on your batwing..great video
I am not clear on how the bracket allows up and down adjustment. . It sounds like your ratcheting that seat bar up and down. How does it lock in place?
There’s an Allen head adjuster screw on the mount itself that adjusts how tight you want the backrest so you can adjust it up or down. The ratchet noise is the divots on the seat post itself.
I just got the same mustang seat. Which will be my main touring and 2 up seat. Came from an Italian AS design diamond seat which I will still keep for run around summer riding. How does this backrest match up with the mustang now that you have had it a while? Does the detent cause issues? And fender rubbing or dislikes? Hard to justify 350 for mustang one.

I’ve used this backrest on all my trips and it works great once adjusted correctly.
Also the windshield is a Klockworks knockoff I found on Amazon for like 20 bucks.

How has this backrest worked for you in the long-term?
I upgraded to a 22 Road glide. I switched the hardware over and it’s working out great. I’ve done a bunch of trips with it across country.

I love it. Far superior than stock. I run a solo seat around town so no issues with marks from mustang seat.
