What's your favorite piece in Kenny's studio??
Kick drum!
The building. Kenny is a legend, it's unbelievable we live in a time where you could book someone like that to record on your album/songs
Well, it's hard to mention just one because who wouldn't love some of the gear he has loaded up at the desk but I also like his stream deck. Even though I am not planning to use it for cameras, recording options will be great when mine arrives.
Kenny
The Kenny, of course 😂
i've run into kenny quite a few time over the last 25 years and i can honestly say...he is one of the nicest dudes in the rock and roll business. he is always so pumped up and excited about music and life. just a joy of a human. besides being an amazing drummer who can play any style and just kill it...he's one of the most inspiring, positive people i've ever come across. he is always so cool and friendly and ready to talk music and drums and life. what a great dude.
"Put a die cast hoop on top, triple flange on the bottom, use an Evans Heavyweight on top, a Hazy 300 underneath, and I use 24-strand, Puresound snares, and everybody's snare room sounds a million times better."
This man hittin us with the secret sauce.
Bingo!
Underrated comment. Kenny is one of my idols and he FREQUENTLY drops secret truth-bombs.
@@rjsingleton how is it underrated if it has the second most likes in the comments? get a dictonarry
@@krusher74 Don't be a curmudgeon. The ENTIRE thread only has 225 comments. WHEN I commented, it was underrated. Regardless, too few people (drummers included) have no idea who Kenny is and his massive list of accomplishments. This entire video is underrated.
Check your comment and get back to me on the whole "dictionarry" thing. LoL!
That's HIS secret sauce, it doesn't mean it would sound better to every drummers ears.
This youtube series was pretty serious, but now is getting REALLY serious.
I loved that Kenny took a moment to share his morning nourishment routine (lemon water and celery...leading up to the double shot espresso). Savoring some of lifes simple pleasures before the creative process kicks in. Very humanizing ! Love it!
This guy gets me pumped up and motivated just giving a tour of his studio. Still has that East Coast, live wire, can't sit still stuff in his DNA. Like Tom Petty sang, "You never slow down, you never grow old."
I saw Kenny at a drum clinic many many years ago; had no idea who he was other than the Mellencamp association on the event flyer. After the clinic, I bought his "Power Workout" VHS tapes and used that program for years for a drum workout. Than a few years later, he sat in with the Smashing Pumpkins (one of my favorite bands ever), and my respect for him became even greater. Super down to earth guy and great ambassador for drummers.
Kenny is one of the humblest most down-to-earth legend you can come across. As a matter of fact, when I came to his clinic as a youngster a few years ago, not only did he signed my sticks writing "you rock!" on one of them because he liked my energy, but he also remembered me and answered me on Linkedin a few weeks down the rod. I kid you not - how much busier than Kenny can a musician be? ... yet he still made time to personally answer me. He also delivers private lessons which my college teacher at the time took for himself! Kenny's really the best. You just want to work with him, which is really not the case with all famous musicians.
I love how Kenny writes drum charts out before playing, he says “I wanna perform when I’m recording” love it
Honestly, when you are reading charts are you reading or performing? Are you actually performing? Im not a huge site reader. Perhaps that puts me on a different scale. It makes me cringe to think that reading music has anything at all to do with performance. In my mind it detracts from performance. But, I know Kenny is use to doing it this way. Perhaps its second nature to him.
@@billbradleymusic Every musician performs best when they “know” the music even if they are using charts for reference
@@billbradleymusic he plays so many songs every week, the chart are to lock him in.. and he sight reads like only a few other can. So he hears the song just by what he sees, so he frees up his creative part of his mind to do.. well... art... makes total sense.
@@HR2635nicely stated
His drumming on John Fogerty Premonition Live is unreal. Kenny is amazing. I also loved his drumming on the Michael Sweet solo album Truth.
I love Kenny. He's passionate, brilliant and not afraid of hard work. It's no wonder he's so sought after.
The man is a legend. Love this guy. He’s a workaholic.
It’s amazing that people can access knowledge & playing from Kenny now. I’ve been a fan of his playing since the late 80s but you didn’t get to see & hear all the behind the scenes, just a rare magazine interview.
Big fan of Kenny. I have one of his old kits. Starclassic Mirage Crystal Ice in custom sizes.
Kenny always seems like he's the most humble dude to hang with.
yeah just ask lukather
As a youngster once I heard the snare sound and drum tones on lonesome jubilee by John cougar I've been hooked on this guy ever since. True professional and flat out amazing on the drums and a great guy!!!
Not only does Stanley Tucci play drums like a beast, he is also a world class actor! Kudos
So helpful. Love to see how he charts out his songs so he can focus on performing! And wow I can hire Kenny? Had no idea.
Props! In the early days of Mellencamp he was bald like a monk with a ring of hair, suspenders, button down shirt. Total hayseed looking like he was holding the pitchfork in American Gothic. Now, total rock star. His stylist deserves some credit lol
6:18 Man! All those pencils!
Wow you just hit big time! Kenny is a legend. I'm an 80s kid and I know the hits he has played on. But in the pre-internet days I never knew his name until I got into drumming in the early 90s and started buying Modern Drummer magazine. I remember picking up an an issue in '92 (or '91?) with him on the cover. Since then I learned a lot from him through (prehistoric) VHS tapes from Zildjian. Thank you for sharing this studio tour with us! And yes, drummers always have the studio. I do too! ;)
Me too !!! 6 rooms !
I rent out the others to bands so that I get one free !!!
All interviewees should give a demo of what their place sounds like, as Kenny did with the drums here.
"I want to be able to perform when I record"
AWESOME
Kenny is my favorite piece in Kenny’s studio. This video answers the question; is it the player or the gear!
In an alternate universe, there's a studio-touring mastering engineer named Andrew Drummers
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Well played!
My best all around can play any thing drummer in the world 🥁 now to my drumroom . Thank you kenny.
I just want ONE band that’s worth a crap. Talent and luck meet at Kenny’s house!
YES! Kenny is a legend and a treasure!
Love you Kenny, Thank you for the Tour. Love and Respect BAE Audio.
Awesome video.. Living legend right there.
Thank you for making this video, I do watch every single one.
Kenny is a legendary musician and just one class dude in my opinion.
Thank you.
COOL!!! THANKS MR. KENNY. ARNOFF
Unstoppable Kenny!
love it Andrew
Great job, Andrew. "Meat & potatoes" Kenny A is a bad ass player and a class act.
Another great video. I just bought Kenny’s audio book from Audible. Looking forward to hearing it! As once a drummer in bands, life-long audiophile and now hobbies studio musician and mixer I enjoy seeing all the studios.
Kenny is the man! Dope stuff!
He is the man, for sure!
Great tour! Kenny rocks
My mood when you upload a new video 📈📈📈
Definitely Cool
Thanks!
Thanks Andrew, this was AWESOME!!! Loved Kenny's book, one of the hardest working musicians of all time for sure!
Kenny is the man :-) great human being! 👍
Kenny is a monster !!!
wow. Just wow.
Great video man I just subscribed. Love Kenny been following him for years. You seem to have a wide knowledge of the equipment too.
Thanks for the sub!
Equipment geeks must love this? It's like the drums are the main component? Used to work in the pits in NY, gingles, demos, you know the drill. Not as much emphasis on equipment, more on the players.
Sick, another cool Cali studio
This dude sets the bar in many levels🤟🏽
First time I really noticed how great his drumming is was when I listened to the 'Leave a Light On' remix (Belinda Carlisle song). There was a part of the remix that is just the drums . Just fantastic work.
Only Kenny can wear sunglasses everywhere and make it cool
This guy is a phenomenal drummer...
So much inspiration from this legend, since ages. He's so pro, so cool, he's just right. Thank you for this video Andrew!
This guy is the BOMB….
Cool interview. Kenny in addition to his awesome talents, never ages.
I believe that desk is made by Sterling Modular.
Agreed
amazing !! thanks for the insights!
Mr. Aronoff , one of the hardest working drummers in the business, sort of the Hal Blaine of my time.
Solid
Forget the studio, how cool is it just to hang with Kenny?!
He was on tour with Smashing Pumpkins tooo!!! ✌✌✌
Espresso machine. Right on, most important piece of gear in the room...
Imagine being a fly on that wall. Crazy.
I frickin LOVE Kenny's playing! What a great attitude too!
wow! i would love something like this! what a nice guy!
Sterling Modular Console. I installed this desk for Kenny.
Wicked video man. Always loved hearing Anthony. I just love hearing him talk!
Thanks for watching!
The man is the salt of the earth.
Kenny seems like such a cool dude. Had no idea the volume of work he has been on. Amazing. Keep the videos coming man. Very inspiring. 🤘🏻
What a cool guy
This is awesome
That was one of the best studio tours I have seen. Great job!
Mannn
I love it,
thank you very much, we need more like this !!🙃🙃❤️❤️❤️
This was really amazing!!
What a hang! The best musicians always seem to be the best hangs, too. Also your editing is getting better and better! Cutting straight to the good stuff and letting the studio show itself!
Most awesome!
Hands down probably one of my top 10 favorite channels on CZcams I start my week off with you every week great job man love the videos
Hell YES!!! Now THIS is truly, really "epic" : what a drummer, what a guy, what a functional & functioning studio!
I'd give this 10 thumbs up, if possible.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great to see how Kenny has adapted to changed times and roles within this wobbling industry, the new video/webcasting/conferencing setup and lights are excellent - and the drums, gear, sounds & grooves already were, in the previous incarnations of his studio.
BTW, on a side note, if one looks back at the other studio tour videos, now, Kenny's "Function-Over-Cosmetics" approach and "I-serve-the-client-and-the-song" attitude reeeeeally put some of those who came off as rather pretentious ponces and their spotless but also track-recordless studio spaces in their place.
Kenny is a true legend, and a hardworking hypertalented superstar in his own right.
Hats off & thanks for this video!
🎩🥁⭐
Love Kenny. Awesome stuff. Working my way that life
Me, the total music geek... trippin’ out that he actually has a boom for his music stand !!!!!
When I played in the College big band (6 page charts) I set my kit up so that I was staring directly at the maestro (director), then I put my 2 music stands side by side directly in front of me (no turning my neck) !!! I just moved my 1st tom over, and the Ride as well. I was quite comfy and playable...always playable.
He said “Hey, they don’t do that, you need the tom in front of you”... and I replied “they don’t, but I do” !!
excellent
He's like a kid. Love it.
So good
Bad ass , Stephen u know he’s almost old. Lemon in the am , great detoxifier . Cheers BC
The desk is from Sterling modular...it looks like a plan D. They make really great studio furniture...I think the owner is a musician.
Nice video! Would recommend your videos to anyone!
fantastic
Love the versatility of the different mics, the mixing board set-ups. Where's the spectrum analyzer for pinging white and pink noise for frequency modes
Ok, this is totally another level! Incredible man, your videos are just getting better and better. Can't wait till next monday!
Thank you
This guy has very different hardware from what you normally see in peoples studios. Interesting.
Always my fave drummer... great video!
Legend!
Really a brilliant video!!! Thanks a lot!!
I have that Jimmy Hendrix (3:33) photo framed from Jim Marshall.
Such a nice chap works hard for and deserves what he’s achieved 👍👏👏
Love the guy, and this place is insane! awesome vid.
Don't forget Kenny's work on the Iommi Hughes album... superb!
such a stand up guy!!! thanks for this series!!! stuff we'd never see..
Dude, very impressive you were able to meet this dude! Thanks for this!
gracias!!!!
Tama logo on a Ludwig kick drum! Love it!
Two legend !
What cool dude, this guy clearly is obsessed with drums. There’s nothing wrong with that, it’s pretty awesome 🤘😎👍
