Iâm overweight and I absolutely hate the way I look . When I see overweight/ obese people saying that theyâre âbody positive â I feel like theyâre finding an excuse to not loose weight . Iâm insecure about how I look but all judgment aside , it is really really bad.
baby steps my love. the results of trying to stay healthy accumulates over time. You learn to fall in love with taking care of yourself and before you know it you learn to respect your body too. Don't hate on something that has so much potential!!!
The first step in fixing a problem is admitting that there is a problem. Youâve already taken the first step. Start off slow, eat a little healthier than you do now and start walking a lot. You donât have to become a gym rat or anything extreme. Once you start to lose weight and look better youâll have all the motivation you need. The first steps are the hardest.
Iâm overweight and currently trying to lose weight but I donât hate the way I look. You canât hate yourself to change. Love yourself where you are but make the changes you need to make to be a better healthier you.
Well, the first step is already cleared for you which is realizing your own problem. The next , is to slowly limit it every day which is by eating less. And third is to find an end goal solution, which is working out to your liking.
You took the first step (propably one of the hardest) in admitting that there is something you wanna fix, next step is you don't want to overwhelm yourself. If you go to the gym it doesn't matter if you only go for 15 minutes at first, for most people the problem isn't doing stuff at the gym it's actually getting to the gym. So if you build the habit and discipline of going to the gym a few times a week for 15 minutes it'll be easier to just stay 5 minutes longer after a few weeks and then keep building up the amount of time you go every few weeks or days (whatever works for you) dm me if you would like any help/support or just find out how I got to where I am

He could have had the last word. That was disrespectful of them to cut him off like that.
@@DamonDivine what was it you were going to say?
Exactly!
As a guy who used to be 90lbs overweight, I can personally say that I love being lean and fit over what I used to be. People often ask me, "do you feel better?" Yes. "Would you go back?" Absolutely NOT!!! It sucked having to wake up absolutely hating to get out of bed because of my sore back and knees. Now at 196lbs, I feel absolutely amazing and am close to visible abs, anyone can do it, but you have to put in the effort into diet and training. Start off small and progress slowly. It's a difficult process, but one you'll thank yourself in the long-run. Fitness is body positivity.
But some People choose not to. If someone doesnt want to "waste" their time working out or eating healthy then thats fine too. Everyone chooses to live life like they want. I dont drink alcohol as its bad for you but you dont see me going up to People Who drink and saying how unhealthy it isđ

There shouldn't be any beef between either side of this spectrum. There can be healthy big people and thier can be non healthy small people. Both sides have the same enemy , people who starve & restrict themselves to be unhealthly thin due to society concerns. There's nothing wrong with loving where you're at, There's nothing wrong with moderation. But people should always be motivated to better themselves, no matter where they are. Also to the body positive people, you can't force people to love your body or admire your shape. If people don't like how you look & society doesn't accept you as a beauty symbol and never will, you can't force people to. That's the issue. Also both sides hate the diet culture of fad diets and fake products that promote being skinny no matter what & "get fit quick" scams. Fit people work for how they look and they shouldn't be shamed for that like the girl at the very end was about to say. The fit community is about looking your very best.
I felt like the bald guy was heavily disrespected, especially when you guys cut him off at the end. I really do not understand your points for doing that. Body positivity is meant to accept the flaws of your body like having a disability, being bald, having stretch marks, acne, scars or curves but being clinically obese was never one of them!
Body positivity is about being happy about your body and not shaming others for theirs. If you choose to work out 5 times a week good for you hope you are happy with yourself. âą unhealthy comes in every size
âą some people have health conditions that don't allow them to be active regardless of how well they eat
âą some people have conditions that dont allow them to lose weight
âą body positivity was a movement created for anyone who had a physique that would be considered abnormal or undesirable

Body positivity wasn't made for obesity, its made for natural chub, ethnic/racial features, disabled bodies like mine, skin disorders, breast cancer survivors, and much more. Such format just caters to confirmation bias and is disrespectful towards the exchange of ideas. People like Rogan, Harris, Peterson, Weinstein and the others in the "intellectual dark web" got it right that an elaborate discussion is what counters the fragmentation produced by the mainstream media. Everytime I heard the fitness enthusiasts start to make a point I heard the lady in the pink tank top say âohh letâs not go thereâ (and just disrupting them in general) ok đ€Šđœââïž
Exactly the whole point of this video and discussion is to find a middle ground
PC thrives on shutting down anyone who talks science and fact instead of emotions.
They know nothing they say acgually holds weight (no pun intended) realistically.
It's called "in denial"
If she has lymphedema she should not be the size she is, it's only making her condition worse. So I'm confusion
Maddie Baddie really I didnât hear that once
Nobody:
Vin Diesel: *All of my family* 1:28
so iâm confused, they keep talking about like âmicro biomesâ and how if they eat the same as whoever they wouldnât lose the weight. Surely a calorie deficit would make most people without specific health conditions lose weight?
This felt very tense the whole time. It's interesting that both groups answered yes for most of the questions.
I think thats just because some people have a hard time being honest with themselves
Yea. That's true
There goes subjectivityđ
Depression Talks With Immanuel bc the fitness people felt the need to be pc
Depression Talks With Immanuel yea because it's a bit weird when all of them sta they work out and eat carefully
notice how when the body positivity girl cut off the fitness girl saying âletâs not even go thereâ she was just shocked and held her mouth open trying to not be rude. the pink body positivity girl was being close minded and kept on contradicting herself throughout the whole video. lol
When a group of people create a label like "body positive" for themselves it is most likely because they have something wrong with them that they want to turn into something positive without actually doing nothing more than label themselves differently.
I wouldâve been like why not? Thatâs why weâre here to talk about it
i thought she had medical condition. she should go to doctor more.
@@blacknemesy when a group of people go to the gym constantly and stress over every calorie they eat, there must be something wrong with them right? Both sides are highly insecure about their looks. No one should be. Who gives a fuck what others think about you?

I usually donât comment, but this needs to be said;
The reason they didnât let the fitness people speak as much is bc they didnât want to offend anybody who is overweight.
However, the producers apparently decided the overweight people couldnât possibly offend somebody fit, so they did this to avoid a controversial video.
Sadly, this shut off the whole point of this video, to HAVE two different sides...
nOmG 3.14 That May be so, but the commenters are certainly making up for it. Thinking they know what every bigger person thinks/does.
itschloeburke no just no
@@itschloeburke4119 a lot of people are just upset that the other side wasn't heard
Yeah. I was a bit upset abt it tbh. The fitness activists had some really good points but didn't get to build on them or got shut off.
I kinda noticed the same thing. There needs to be equal time for discussions on both sides. It is a sensitive topic, but if you are easily offended, then this may not be a suitable platform for you.
I love how they categorize them as fitness enthusiast and not just along the lines of healthy lifestyle.
The bald guy was the nicest out the fitness people, he seemed so genuine. I honestly wished they gave him more screen time.
âMiddle groundâ where one side speaks the majority of the time, and when the other side speaks you cut them off!
Olivia J I was triggered lol đ
Yeah they usually are better than this
Where the PC side speaks and the BiGotEd side gets cut off
Olivia J Well then you know which side is ignorant.
As someone that is a fitness enthusiast and also believes in being body positive- it really annoys me when people think that these two ideas can't coincide
Steven Carbuhn I agree, they should.
Steven Carbuhn you should t be positive about being obese
Steven Carbuhn, you are right, there are so many people who are both!
i think the separation in this video was that the b.p. people weren't fitness enthusiasts and that was what they wanted to show specifically in this middle ground.
Same!
Yea sure but thinking about an overweight unhealthy body in a positive way is unhealthy because then you will never change it, a better way to think about it is to think positively about your progress towards a healthy body
This video opened my mind to a totally new psychology and really mad me think deeper in a sense of how the way of life affects different individuals in different ways no one person is the same like when she said we could eat the same thing and still be a different size which kinda struck a đĄ in me because itâs so much more than âhealthyâ eating because everyoneâs definition of healthy isnât the same what healthy for you may not be healthy for my body which I thought was so eye opening it made me wonder why Iâve been trying to follow all these unrealistic patterns of other people instead of building my own way.
we live in a society where people say we need to embrace everything even the bad things too
isn't that right.?
âbody positivity isnât meant for people like youâ ... so you get to deem who gets to feel good about their bodies and who doesnât?
Do you think "All lives matter" trying to counter "Black lives matter" was ok then? I don't think it's not about not being inclusive to all, it's about making sure that the group that made it all about themselves in the first place, don't make it all about themselves all over again. It's about people who have been ostricized because they don't fit the beauty standards of modern culture. A model with vitiligo, an amputee, a girl with a face deformity, a boy with Down Syndrome, a transgender woman, a large man, etc. Do you see the distinction? It's about giving the spot light to people who have generally been left in the back.
Fern F the comparison of these peopleâs idea âinclusivityâ of body types has no correlation with the police brutality and social injustice that the black lives matter is a movement for. youâre reaching bud.
@@komboochie maybe you are right, maybe it's a stretch, but the logic is the same. I found it extremely annoying when white people were telling black people that their movement was racist and not inclusive. Just like I find it annoying when people get triggered by overweight people finding confidence and wanting to be the protagonists of their own stories. It's just ridiculous how epically annoying people in general are becoming about everyone else's life choices.
Fern F for me the problem comes in when people start hating on the other side like some people in the body acceptance community. For example hating other people because they are skinny or lighter than them. Another one of my problem is promoting having an obese body like saying that obesity is the way to go or obesity is ok, what is needed is for people who are severely overweight to be protected from people ridiculing them and then being given the right support to help them lose weight and develop a healthy lifestyle.
Fern F but all lives do matter
Hi, Jubilee. The fitness enthusiast side really didnât get the time to speak the way the body positive side did. Can there be a do over? Iâm here for both sides and I canât help feeling like the BP people got more time to ensure that the video was politically correct. đ€·đœââïž
len ci Hi Len. Thank you for watching and for commenting. I am planning on releasing a follow up video to continue to talk about what I wanted to say in this video.
This to keep pharmaceuticals in business
Damon Divine Hoffman have u made the video yet?
totally agree. Especially on the question about being judged for their body I wanted to hear the "fit" person's story.
I believe how they do it is whoever would like to talk can talk. The fitness enthusiasts chose not to talk. They should have spoke up.
Body positivitie is meant for people who cannot change their body, because they are handicapped or something, not for people who are to lazy to work out and then promote an extremely unhealthy lifestyle
true brah!
@@vufios1099 we're all gonna make it brah
I agree, It is for things you cannot change! Like skin color, shape, structure, birth marks, ect.
They arenât promoting anything. They arenât telling anyone to look like them. Body positivity is not being negative about the way your body looks, wether you can control it or not. You should strive to be the healthiest version of yourself, but no need to hate your appearance in the process
That bald guy definitely belongs to the body improvement club from mob psycho heâs such a bro

Yâall really need to redo this in 2021 and ask the tough (e.g. covid risks related) questions.
Seriously people in the West are beyond privileged. Knowing everything about modern medicine and having all the opportunities we have gives us no excuse whatsoever to be obese or overweight.
What about illness?

you sound like a millennial wimp
Thats like saying my step father who was beat with shovel handles, wooden spoons, belts, and everything else, is a wimp because his step father was borderline killing him and he didnt like it. Like, I understand spanking your kid, I got spanked as a kid when I got in trouble and im ok, but beating your kid to the point they are actually fearful of you is ridiculous. It has nothing to do with being a wimp. It has everything to do with being a shit parent. If you cant control your kid with yelling or just small spank, then youre already doing something wrong..

This very moment discredited the entire video. The actual problem with body positivity is believing that weight doesnât matter. Itâs true that people may eat similar amounts of calories and have different weights because of metabolic differences but that in no way negates the actual medical science of obesity putting you at higher risk for chronic disease. How was this not addressed at all?
This was more wholesome than I had initially expected

Homeschooled vs Traditionally Schooled
Garnet Fusion as one who is homeschooled, I would love to see this đ
Garnet Fusion I would rephrase it as homeschooled vs traditionally schooled. The opposite of schooled is unschooled and what people donât realize is that a lot of homeschoolers are better educated than public/private schoolers because education plans can be super personalized! đ Not that I think youâre saying that youâre saying theyâre not educated, but I just wanted to say that!
