Fantastic pirouette Fernando 🤣
He wanted to use 110% of his tyres

coolio33388 Fernando: Let’s finish them.
3:54 Rosberg got told what to do, didn’t listen and he got overtaken so easily.
Everyone knows, only Kimi can ignore what he is told and get good results
Well he could not change line he lost control in the exit as you see
Yeah not it was not "so easily". Max was going for those wide lines all race -- not only in t3, just to get a grip of how the car handles I guess, and if you watch the replay from above you can see him almost drifting all the way around Rosberg. It was a master move really
Yeah, Rosberg wasn't the most confident in the wet. It's races like these that show the difference between drivers like Rosberg and drivers like Hamilton and Max.
@@HandlesSuck123 to be fair, he was leading the world championship.. He just needed to finish and get some points instead of losing it trying to defend p2 and getting no points...
The formation lap was more interesting than last year's French GP.
I mean..a walk around the paddock is more interesting than last year's French GP lets be honest
I think Ericsson hit Grosjean on the lap to the grid

Oh my god, Nico's engineer sounds so disappointed in him, especially at the end, like: "come on, man, I JUST told you a corner ago to consider driving on the OUTSIDE of turn 3 and yet you do me like that and now look what happened :("
From what I can tell Nico's snap at T2 exit meant he couldn't get wide in T3 but definitely the engineer was mega disappointed 😂
@@blacknailediowa191 yeah, plus he wasn't trying to take any risks because of the championship fight, but that little exchange amused me greatly

that alonso 360 spin was crazy !!
Was looking for this comment, impressive as fuck indeed
Insane how early people put Inters on. It was just too wet.
that ought to show the FIA that people absolutely hate the red flag
Agreed, I was thinking they are crazy for putting inters on so early
Max put them on tho and look what he did
@@ItsHuntex but he had to switch to full wets.
False, Button pitted for intermediates after lap 8. His first full lap on intermediates in lap 10 he was just as quick as Raikkonen and on lap 11 he was half a second quicker than Raikkonen. And Button was like 2 full seconds quicker than Alonso who pitted a lap later. This is why people started switching to intermediates, especially if you were not one of the front runners there was a whole lot to gain here. When you see a McLaren being quicker than the Ferrari it sure is tempting to make a pitstop.
Imagine having radio messages from the 80's. Prost, Senna, Mansell, Niki, Hunt... Would've been a league of its own.
kiran babu why?

as you can see, f1 cars are sentient and are scared to change tyres or as they call feet
When you think of the word 'masterclass', it evokes thoughts of more than expertise, even great expertise. No, it comes with the added gravitas of a long and distinguished career. But Max gave a masterclass that day.
...and than there is Grosjean
You mean good chassis and safety cars
@@FRFM00 yeah, and so many illegal overtakes
Phillip Leite maybe, but if I remember correctly, this was also one of Max’s first wet race, and his first in the RB.
Sakari Ojanen what illegal overtake?
man, time has changed, everything's so different now except Grosjean.
And vettel who spun
I mean you can blame Grosjean and sure he’s shit driver but driving a Haas is dangerous enough in the dry let alone the rain.
0:00 *Grosjean spins*
Sorry, that's in my blood
Mattias Bray same blood type as vettel then?
Anurag Charles’ seems to stable enough
Ericsson hit him he didn't spin
@no way Very true. For me, blame the drivers when they spin/crash on dry tracks. In this case, yeah Grosjean is the worst, and Vettel makes a lot of mistakes, crashed his teammates (Webber, Kimi, and Charles). But let's not blame them for spinning/crashing on wet.
Missionspinnow
2:50 if Max didn't lose the car for a moment he would have crashed into Kimi 😟

Lol he was no where near you

Vettel loves to cry
What a race it was... Max's move around the outside of Nico Rosberg... still love it.
What I'm understanding from this is that following the racing line when it's wet and not raining seems to put wet tires on a drier surface than intended. So going into new parts of the track gives more grip because the tires are made for it
Mike Porter indeed
Not really, wet tires still grip better on dry surfaces than wet ones. The real reason is that the racing line has rubber laid down from previous racing, and the rubber layer causes water to stick around longer. So if anything the racing line is less grippy than the wet line
interlagos also has banked turns so water tends to gather more on the inside which makes throttle control even harder

Unpopular opinion: 2016 was a dope season. There was the Hamilton vs. Rosberg rivalry, the emergence of Max Verstappen, Danny Ric finished 3rd in the championship, Force India had their best ever season, Romain Grosjean carried Haas to an impressive debut season, Sauber and Manor were fighting not to finish last, and on top of that the racing was great.
P.S. F for Romain and Hulk. Romain qualified 5th for this race and crashed before it started, while Hulk picked up a puncture while running fourth.
That’s not unpopular at all.
Florian Ebner It kind of is, most people look back at 2014-2016 as a total shitshow due to Merc’s dominance when 2016 in particular was actually an awesome season.

Could you describe the conditions around the track at the moment please?
Overtake of the century by Max, for sure.
This was the race which very much put Max on everyone’s radar I believe. Of course he always had pure speed in qualy and in the races but if I’m correct he was also known as being reckless etc.
However, this race showed Max’s true talent, skill and ability. Especially his ability to adapt and respond to the crazy weather and the tyres.
No one can contest this fact. Well done Max and Red Bull! 👍
