My point is that both of these anime are story-driven and they both have the unique feeling that you can't find in other shounen anime. i just like how these anime doesn't have cliche plot (revenge type of thing) unlike some other shounen out there.

These stories aren’t shonen but the best things to come out anime/manga that aren’t on this list are Devilman, Akira, Evangelion, and Berserk. There are other shows too but these ones had insane influences on anime and beyond. Also they all have an amazing world ending/hell like landscape/ armageddon and revelation thing going on

They didn’t…they didn’t do anything. They just copy pasted the straight up google definition of the anime and got the first image off google images, then put it in this slow ass list, while simultaneously playing “epic copyright free music ©”. Not to mention these reviews are completely subjective and based off of MAL. For instance, the FMAB fans were incredibly toxic and disliked anything other than FMAB in order for it to reach the number one spot. Low effort video.

@@elderonn3 I never understand people who say that. Fullmetal has one of the most ambitious, complex, and efficiently told stories I’ve ever seen. The sheer amount of themes in the narrative is almost overwhelming. And it has a shockingly small amount of flaws as well as a perfect ending. What is better than that? lol
@@sprawlz6466 I can describe fmab using lots of words but ambitious is not one of them. Throughout the whole show I felt like the writer was afraid to take any risks (of course I do not attack her I only critique about her work.), I feel like the story played it too safe and couldn’t fully go through with many of it’s themes, like war for example, which the story tried to cover but ultimately was too afraid to embrace it fully. This makes it even seem “half hearted “ and empty. You called the story efficient, which if we count the amount of themes it presents, it is. But if we look at how well and how deeply it tackles each theme you will find that it is quite shallow. As I said, the show is good but not the best. It is like the saying “jack of all trades , master of none”. I would much rather see and praise a show like monster that talks mainly about one subject, but does so perfectly and beyond any other show, than a show that covers alot of themes and subjects but never goes through with any of them until the end. And there are shows that do cover alot of themes and go through with them until the end, like the chimera ant arc from Hunter x Hunter for example , which covers love, hatred, innocence, corruption, happiness, suffering, loyalty, betrayal, anger, sadness, life, death, malevolence, destruction, resolve, determination, avarice, sacrifice, "true" power, truth, and understanding. Each and every subject was portrayed to the fullest. So taking that into a consideration, shows like that are objectively better than FMAB.
@@elderonn3 Well first of all, there’s no such thing as “objectively better”. It doesn’t really make any sense. I don’t know if you really meant it like that but everyone has preferences and biases for what they like to see in their stories and pieces of art. I’m not trying to say anything is objectively better than anything else here, I’m just saying that there are certain things in the series that make me want to give the title “best shonen of all time” to Fullmetal Alchemist.

That’s not how I see it at all. What you said about shows that tackle few themes but explore them in great detail is true. I really enjoy that style of writing as well. I really enjoy Monster and my two favorites are Evangelion and Berserk which also fall under that category. Fullmetal Alchemist does not try to be that. In its simplest form, FMA is about how an entire country operates. All the themes that are present build upon one another to create this complex world with many different conflicts. Remember “one is all, all is one”? The world of FMA is defined by all these smaller things that are touched upon. You could call that the “one big theme” that gets explored in great detail. It just uses all the other smaller themes to get it done. You typically don’t see that style of writing in lengthy series because it’s very difficult to maintain consistency with such a limited amount of ideas to explore. The only two long series that I feel have been able to pull it off is FMA and The Wire. This brings us back to preferences and biases. You might just have a distaste for that kind of storytelling. Nothing wrong with that, there are certain things that don’t do it for me either.
And you also mentioned a lot of very general themes in the Chimera Ant arc. For example, I could literally apply every single one of those to FMA if I wanted to. Now let me ask you this, what does the loyalty of the royal guards have anything to do with the main themes of the arc? That’s my problem with HxH, it feels like it gets off track and goes on useless tangents sometimes. Like Knuckle and Shoot’s character developments. Honestly what did that add to the bigger picture that wasn’t already there. It just felt like a waste of time to me. But it’s possible I just don’t have it completely figured out unlike FMA.
@@sprawlz6466 first of all, I appreciate this conversation, thank you for the opportunity to express and discuss the shows I like. You presented me with a very interesting point of view on FMAB. The thing is that I think of a show like a photo, just like you determine the quality of the photo by how detailed it is (you do that by zooming in and inspecting the photo’s details as you look closer) I determine how good a show is by how far I can delve deep inside it without it seeming shallow. That is why one of my favorite things about fmab is the death of the sins. Their deaths were poetic and beautifully written (an example would be that greed died satisfied). But when I delve deep inside the themes and the story of fmab just as I said before it feels quite shallow. As with the chimera ant arc, the more I delve inside the arc and its themes, the more I get fascinated with how much details and deep the themes are explored. Just like with fmab, hxh’s chimera ant arc also has one big theme, “humanity” and what it means to be human. Every character, contributes to that theme, and the point that the arc tries to make . That being the fact we are all human, we all are capable achieving good and beautiful , but with being human comes also malice and destruction. Each and every one of us, as an individual, can choose who we want to be. Each character in the arc shows some aspect of humanity, like knuckle and shoot, and yupi and pitou, and netero and palm, and of course gon (who shows in the arc the worst of humanity) and meruem (who shows the best of humanity). With each character delving deep inside every aspect of humanity, with each theme being supported by other themes. Everything was connected not just under the main big theme, but also individually, with everything. That is why I said that hxh is objectively better than fmab (of course it was wrong of me to use the word objective as nothing is objective) , hxh’s chimera ant arc does exactly what you said fmab does but in much greater detail.
On another note , will you be kind enough to explain to me the ending of FMAB? I kind of felt cheated that Ed just sat there for 5 minutes and figured it out, and the answer was something he could have done since day one.
Finally, a good list.

@@yez9475 Yes, but ever since the anime ended, people have been hating on it and saying it doesn't belong in the big three, but I personally believe it's the best of the big three, because it avoids most of the tropes you see in shounen.
Now that the anime is returning, the Bleach haters are jumping on the hype train even though they had been hating on it for years. It's another example of hypocrisy and people jumping on the bandwagon to fit in with what's popular.

Just my opinion but I as a fan who have watched all of the above mentioned 100 shows. I can safely say FMAB is truly unmatched as an anime. It's story telling and plot is just that much better than both HxH and One Piece. Maybe One Piece manga is better than anime but the anime didn't hook me for almost 250 episodes and that's more than the number of episodes in HxH and FMAB combined.

Yeah my favorite so far I started 2-3 days ago and I've finished.geeed island rn I'm taking a break it makes my 5 anime I've watched look average the anime I've watched being DBZ Naruto promised Neverland demon slayer and mha. But heavens arena was boring af except the hisoka fight
@@cliff9246 hxh is really complex. The fights may be flashy but the strategy and power system used in each fight is second to none. And just wait till after Heavens arena which I agree is my least favourite arc. Mostly due to the information were given on Nen, which will definitely come into play later in the story.
