Great meter! I often used the light dome, but in recent years I use the meter with the grid to measure reflected light in the scene. Working with light values, what this meter also indicates, has the advantage that you can easily calculate the average light intensity and contrast to make a perfect exposure. By developing more or less long, you can stretch or contract the contrast more. Great tool and that without batteries!
When you use the grid to measure reflected light, it is no longer necessary to use the "highslide". However, you must use the red H as indicator.

I like unboxing videos of articles I consider ordering, because as you said: It is always nice to see beforehand what to expect. In your package not only the instructions were missing, but also the lumidisc (mostly used for studio work, so most people won't miss it, but it should be there).

Yeah, I realized it was missing after uploading the video. I started with good intentions but sadly mine came incomplete.

Just my guess, but this is probably the only selenium cell light meter still sold new. Apart from missing the flat diffuser, you also might look for a set of insert tabs that allow the meter to directly read out in f-steps for given ISO and shutter speed. This meter goes back the mid-1950s, when a US made meter called the Norwood was one of the major choices. Sekonic bought the rights when Norwood failed and has made some minor variation of the meter ever since. Great meter in the studio with its controlled lighting; not so much outside.

Thanks for the information Randall, I have a great friend that uses it with the normal diffuser and the high insert for exterior meterings with great success. I hope it works just fine for me too. But i will consider getting the rest of the inserts if possible.

Not only the instruction manual is missing. Where’s the Lumidisc which is included in the box?!… 😮

You're missing the lumidisk (like lumisphere, but flat) for directional incident light measurements; should have all three plus a little booklet :)

Yeah, I noticed that after the video was published. It was a second hand score and I messed up. Sorry.

Hello, I just bought one and my sensor has a “bubble” or something that is showing. Not sure if it’s a defect or… but it’s still sensing light, not sure if accurate.

The video has an error (widely discussed in another video) @ 2m22sec, the voice over says "line up the black needle with the footcandle", while on the video they align with the red "H" arrow instead.

I left the manual in the description but hope to make a few videos on how to use it. As Ingyar mentioned the Sekonic videos are also a good tool. Hope you can figure it out. ;)
