As an England supporter I am honesty sympathetic because watching and listening to the analysis - fallout better word - I'm taken back to that Iceland game. A country size of Coventry I think, but we had all the same handwringing over youth coaching, development, pitch access, etc. Good can come out of this. Whether he's the right man I don't know but I think, if I may say, Kenny has the right idea. Don't throw it away because it's taking time.

As an Irish football fan, this result sickens me. But also this is what will happen if we have a corrupt and criminal regime running our game for the last 10 or 15 years that could take another 10 or 15 to fix. Its like a punch to the stomach, but I think this result will truly wake us all up and tell us what kind of a shit pit we are truly in. A shit time to be a follower of Irish football, but we need to stick together and I'm sure better days will lie ahead🇮🇪

10 or 15 years? John Delaney's da was treasurer before him and just before he was to be charged with embezzlement - he resigned....
The FAI's auditors filed a H4 notice claiming proper books of account have not been kept.
They are under investigation by the Office for the Director of Corporate Enforcement. They are negotiating a refinancing package with their bank in order to stay afloat, and are reliant on the early drawdown of funds from Uefa.
Revised accounts showed the €2.278 million profit reported in 2016 was actually a surplus of just €66,000. The €2.75 million surplus posted for 2017? That is actually a loss of €2.9 million. And in 2018 they recorded a loss of just under €8.9 million.
Delaney earned a severance package of €462,000 at the end of September having been paid while on gardening leave.
The reason he was in such a strong position with the Association in his exit talks was because of the seven-year contract extension he signed in 2014. Under that contract, Delaney was entitled to a €1 million bonus payment along with a deferred pension payment of €2 million.
Grassroots football in Ireland as a result of all this has been destroyed - we are the most corrupt nation on earth.

Brian Kerr started out as an league of Ireland manager and ended up getting the Ireland job .he did ok , but the people wanted a big name manager got Trapatoni , who couldn't speak a word of english 2million a year salary and his translater was on 500 thous a year , that's how stupid the FAI was .ie John Delaney and co .

Just because they were terrible for a long time does not mean they are right now. Disappointing defeat but not all that surprising considering how they have progressed recently

How can Ireland make Iceland look world class. Delaney and his cohorts never built a structure, academy like Belgium. Even England lack what the Belgians did. Iceland are a true example of how to play to a level acceptable to any football loving fan. What Ireland put out to the football world last night was a disgrace to the game.

Argentina are playing Ireland and the team are depressed. Messi says its ok lads i will play by myself and the rest of you can go and party. The Argentina players go to an Irish Pub and start drinking. After 20 minutes they check the score and its Ireland 0-1 Argentina. They drink even more and have a party. When they check the final Score its Ireland 1-1 Argentina.
They cant believe Messi on his own has got a draw against a whole team. They drunkenly go back to the stadium to congratulate and party with Messi.
But Messi is in the dressing room crying saying he has let them all down badly and he is sorry.
They tell him are you crazy, you got a draw against a team all by yourself you didnt let us down.
And Messi says "I did, im so sorry, i got sent off after 20 minutes"

I know its not reciprocated but as an Englishman I prefer it when Ireland have a decent team with momentum heading towards tournaments, etc can't explain why, I don't share the hatred you have for us in return, I think its better for football when passionate nations are involved, many of whose players play in the EPL and have good characters. Ireland's players over the years have contributed to the growth and character of the EPL and its better for the game when they are involved.
