    I must be getting old! No way would I consider doing that on my 990! Too big and heavy, yet here you are making it look easy on a 1290! Well done!

      @deanhenthorn8674 Před 2 lety +1

      Bill, I have a 990 too and love the bike, but it is a bit top heavy. A steering damper would be required on ours for sure. The bikes he rode have a considerably lower seat height and smoother power delivery.

    Watching the first half of this I thought, well, the track couldn't be that bad for a 24 hour race. Halfway through I'm like, shit, that's a brutal track. Water crossings, legitimate hill climbs, rutted out mud dual tracks, rocks; man that's brutal.

    Wow, you won with a stock bike. Congrats! To think people still talk smack about KTM reliability these days. 24 Hours of torture and the KTM didn't quit. Speaks volumes to the doubters.

    • @27Zangle
      @27Zangle Před 2 lety

      I was never a doubter and believe they are just as reliable as the Japanese brands. I've looked around the web on/off and have found many machines with TONS of HARD miles. Just much more expensive!

    • @scldma114
      @scldma114 Před 2 lety +3

      This actually proves literally nothing on Ktm’s reliability. A 24h race with a single pilot is not hard on the machine, it is just extremely hard on the man. Each of the 2 bikes had to run a 12 hours event at a regular and say spirited pace but relaxed enough for the pilot to actually make it to the 24 hour mark; that is about it. 48 lap for 15 miles is 720 miles divided on 2 bikes. The only thing it actually proves is that a new bike from Kim can run 360 miles at a somewhat spirited pace. Not really impressive, not really debunking anything.

    • @Blazemon9999
      @Blazemon9999 Před 2 lety +4

      He's not riding a KTM enduro...he's on 2 different adventures. Look all around him in the race...nothing but dirtbikes. The KTM adventures aren't designed to run that hardcore. The fact that pieces weren't hanging off it at the end of the race is a testament to how far KTM reliability has come. People who don't own KTMs are the ones who complain about reliability based off one or 2 people's posts on some forum. I personally own a superduke gt and 690 Enduro r and haven't had a single issue with either. I have lots of friends with KTMs with the same experience. People who talk crap about Ducati or KTM probably haven't ever owned one recently, or just can't afford one and wanna hate.

      Tbf, this course is mostly fireroads. The worst thing to deal with when it's dry like this is either the dust obscuring vision, punctures due to the rocks and speeds you can get or getting into daft races with team riders if you're an ironman.
      However, when it's wet there's a couple sections that cut between fireroads that cause difficulties when there's traffic although the organisers remove sections if the 24hr riders are struggling on it.
      There are "hard" "shortcuts" but honestly, it's faster to just nail the regular track.
      I've seen Africa twins get round fine along with kx85s. I, on my Mx bike came 9th in ironman 12hr one year with one eye (lost a contact), collapsed subframe, 3 punctures and rode on a flat front tyre for 4hrs . Came back the year later and had 4 punctures and ended up 5th.
      I consider myself a shite rider, especially back then, but I was fit.
      Tldr, it's the rider. The bike doesn't matter much around here. Unless it's valley extreme. 890 at that race here I'd like to see!
