I always preferred Zamazenta over Zacian. Zamazenta actually looks like wolf combined with a shield whereas Zacian just looks like a wolf holding a sword.
Okay please don’t hate me but I find zacian cooler than zamazenta especially I nickname mine wolfcaliber in my playthrough Of sword version
@@shadowdragonemperor4250 ah yes, someone else who appreciated zacian
@@shadowdragonemperor4250 yeah true
For myself, I always had preferred swords over shields, and so I had naturally gravitated over to Zacian as my preference -Pokémon Sword version.
I find that I was probably much more fond of swords because it would get me feeling active, whenever I would wield one in a videogame, and I just sort of l liked feeling active; while with when it comes to purely shields, that suggests a much more passive role. And when I was younger, I just didn't like the idea of that very much.. I guess the idea of having the presence of a sword in my hands, and the feeling of being able to just walk stuff with it, appealed to me much more.
So yeah, that's why I decided to choose sword version, as I was more so fond of swords and that’s what I wanted to base my selection on. But that was a couple years again. And Nowadays, I honestly feel like Zamazenta is much cooler, and even has an excellent name as well!

Deoxys is definitely supposed to be red, since its based on the DNA base codes ACTG, which are red, blue, green, and yellow. This is supported by the fact that its shiny is green and yellow. I think the only reason it looks kind of orange is because the Pokemon art style loves using super desturated/lighter colors in general. There are plenty sprites from mainline games where its color leans way more red than orange. I think its just an inconsistency thing.
I'm sorry my friend, but whatever it's based on... it's still orange. They desaturated the red so much that it's no longer red. And just because they base it on something doesn't mean it's entirely that thing. As he showed, Charizard is only a few shades lighter, like Gengar vs its shiny, and Charizard is orange.
The anime made it red, it's just entirely different colors.
(Although orange looks better, personally)
@@RadiantSharaShaymin Charizard being a few shades away from Deoxys does not in turn make Deoxys orange. There are shades of yellow that lean close to orange but aren't orange, the same way that there are shades of red that lean close to orange but aren't orange. To me, Deoxys is just an orange-leaning red, like Vermillion and I'm certain that was the intention
Yeah this is completely correct. The better comparison for official artwork and every other piece of media would be the Rotom phone. It's official art looks orange-ish but it is definitely red everywhere else, just like Deoxys. Anyone saying otherwise just wants to be a contrarian.
Yeah no it’s not supposed to be red. Sometimes Pokéball art look more orange than red, but there’s always another version that’s very clearly red, but Deoxys looks orange all the time, no matter what.
insane coping
I think shiny Pokemon being "more common" has helped me like them more. I remember back in the earlier gens, I never found a wild shiny Pokemon outside of Gyradose. Now, I've run into at least 1 or two, especially in Scarlet and Violet per playthrough. I think it helps for people who aren't going to dedicate hours to shiny hunting Pokemon get actual shiny Pokemon in their playthrough
On the topic of Shinies, I just got one in Pokémon GO!
I agree I like shines but O don't want to waste months just to get one that barely changes or looks ugly and shiny Pokémon are still rare or at least uncommon so they are still special
yea, I kinda agree. like, I really didn't like or appreciate some Pokemon until I got them as a shiny, and then I was more invested in their moveset, what pokeball they were in, if I could get them with a Mark or not, etc. So that's nice.
Maybe its the ppl who literally have careers in shiny hunting that make shinies feel less special to some.
It was really fun to see a shiny qwilfish in pla because i had never seen a real one in a first playthrough since a geodude in platinum, and i had planned on using an overqwil. But then in the same game i caught like 5 other shinies since there was nearly always one in a swarm. i think i'll always catch shinies i see, but unless it's a pokemon i havent used, then its going in the box. If i had found them when i was younger then i probably would have made full teams out of them, but with 1/8000 i only ever found one geodude.
Honestly, Espeon has always been my favourite eeveelution purely just because of how perfect its design is
Its so simple yet so fitting
As a kid i drew her a lot even giving her my custom mega evolution as well as an ultra form, my favorite eeveelution from the very start
Oh no... Even though I DO love Espeon... I have to say... My favourite Eeveelution is Umbreon!
I like that Umbreon is both cool and cute. But I do admit, that I like Espeon, and I have used it more often than Umbreon in recent games, so I definitely like using it.
It seems I don't get the chance to use Umbreon for whatever reason. Maybe I'll make a more conscious effort to use the little dark type.
@@BakaTaco same with Umbreon, he's my 2nd

I've recently started seeing people praise the Alola games much more now. People called me crazy for calling those games great, and now here we are.
The only issue with Alola is the amount of cutscenes. Everything else is fantastic, and it's probably my third favorite Gen before Sinnoh and Hoenn.
One thing I do hate about Alola is how USUM completely butchered SM's story. Especially Lusamine and Lillie's dynamic
I think that Scarlet and Violet are some of the best pokemon games ever. In seven or eight years, this opinion will be much more appreciated.
@@williamkaplan1430 fully agree story wise. It being rushed and a buggy mess holds it back. I do miss actual evil teams too. We havent had one since gen 6
pokemon taking a break would be amazing but lets look at it like this. every gen there are new pokemon released. with these, there come new plushies, new cards, new figures, new episodes in the anime revolved around them. the whole company is dependent on new pokemon every few years so they can keep this chain of marketing going which kinda sucks
I guarantee you we are going to get an announcement for Gen 5 remakes that will come out in 2024 followed by Gen 10 in 2025 with DLC for that game released in 2026, then Gen 6 remakes in 2027 and repeat until the world ends.
And the games will only get worse and worse until some drastic changes are made at The Pokemon Company. Pokemon is a forever doomed franchise, which is why I switched over to Persona for my RPG monster hunting fix.
it's actually pretty easy to resolve this issue. They should do the Madden / Fifa model where they have 3-4 groups of devs working on new titles. so that each dev group gets 3-4 years to work on a game. Pokémon makes so much money that this should be easily done tbh. they get more time to make better games, the games sell more and they still get to market plushies and new pokémon like they want to. it's pretty simple
@@zacharylandrum4789why are u acting like the previous games were the best things ever? DP were trash, Gen 1 and Gen 2 games were trash except FRLG, Emerald was the only good Hoenn game but still had dumb villains who couldn't even guess that Groudon is red in color so it would need the Red Orb, B2W2 were the only good Gen 5 games, Gen 9's story is literally better than 99% of the previous games
@@theamazingspooderman2697 Gen 9 was a broken and unfinished mess. I love the game, but the story is about the only thing making it better than other games. If you come to Pokemon for story, you are in the wrong place (although i do agree diamond and pearl sucked).
@@theamazingspooderman2697 When did I ever say that? You are projecting so hard right now. I personally don't like Gen 1, 2, Ruby/Sapphire, Diamond/Pearl, Gen 7, Gen 8 AND Gen 9 because there are a lot of things in those specific games that just hinder the overall experience for me. Especially with the modern games (Gen 7 and beyond).

The thumbnail is a perfect representation of how everyone felt about bdsp
I mean the games in my opinion were a call back to my childhood, but it got a little boring after beating it.
they were better than HGSS, in BDSP we can atleast catch the Platinum mons in Grand Underground and they made the Elite Four more competitive and made Cynthia even harder, in HGSS Johto mons like Houndour are still only available in Kanto and still has that weird level curve, the Champion battle in HGSS caps at lvl 50 ffs

I used to think Ho Oh was cooler than Lugia. But after hearing the story of Takeshi Shudo it's creator and writer of the first three Pokémon movies. About how Lugia was intended to be exclusive to the Pokémon 2000 movie and was only included in the games thanks to a delay on Gen 2 and how the creator saw Lugia as a maternal goddess of the sea and life and became depressed when the studio went against his wish and gave it a male voice. All that definitely made Lugia much more interesting to me as the only Pokémon who was created outside of the games and is tied directly to the tragic story of a man who shaped a lot of our childhood.
Even though it isn't my favorite Gen, I think the recent Gen 2 hate is condusive to what I dislike about game criticism nowadays, even down to creating every discussion about said game in such a dour or cynical way because its seen as the way to be "critical" when a lot of issues people point out about the game in the many video essays I've seen are problems the games as a whole have had or were overarching problems of the first 4 Gens that make me wonder if I'm even playing the same game. And for every positive step newer games take with QOL, they take steps back to fight itself in every other game, outside of Gen 5 I don't feel the series ever reach a fully formed generation. Even competitively I find less fun too!
I'm just not a fan of the overly critical, yet cynical approach people take toward reviewing games now. Namely older titles, everyone always acts as if you have to be overly negative with emotional rants that turn vitriolic. like yeah, I believe in being critical, because part of critiquing a form of art is to look at all sides. But people can be critical without turning the discussions into dour vent sessions on discord or every platform. It has made engaging with older games unfun and often just amounts to a series of echo chambers who repeat the same thing over again. They also have this weird defense mechanism for other games when they bash certain games too. It isn't fun to watch or engage in.
I feel like people don't even know what they like. Every time I go online I always find that opinions have changed drastically on something. Gen 2 imo is still great, gen 2 and 5 have always been my favorites, gen 2 because of how it feels, I still enjoy that classic adventure on your own feel, I love Johto as a region, the culture and everything, it also has my favorite ost in the series (followed by gen 5's) it has so many optional dungeons if you go out of your way so Ive always loved it for how non linear it was, etc etc
Gen 5 on the other hand might be super linear and story heavy but gameplay wise its peak pokemon for me, especially B2W2, I also love everything from it, music, dungeons, culture, but I also really love the gym leaders, and as controversial as this may sound gen 5 still has best dex imho, most of my favorite pokemon are from gen 5 including my favorite legendary (Reshiram) although my number one favorite pokemon it's from gen 6 lol. And I could easily go on but this comment is getting kinda long.
But yeah I kinda agree. For me I see it as people targeting the wrong thing when people should focus on hating the subpar products we have now instead of yelling at the past, I've seen so many people give a pass to swsh and SV yet they slam previous gens, yes none of them are perfect and I have criticisms about all of them but tbh gen 1 to 5 all seem like complete products compared to everything we have now. People are way too inconsistent.
@@Rex13013 strange, i have seen the opposite, expecially in the italian fandom, people hating the new generations and saying the older ones were the best. Gen 5 wasnt more "fully formed" as a generation though it was full of its own issues and lacking things, even replacing core elements like bases and contest etc, not creating anything etc, nostalgia cIown, and I say this as someone who liked it while being older while playing it, so not blind nostalgia like you, the newer hate for 2 and wanking for the ones you grew with are the same way genuners cause the praise for 2 before and hate for 5, its genuners and later ds toddlers like you not coping with your subjective feelings caused by nostalgia and need to prove its objective and feel validated by having everyone agree as a fact. You got salty that older gens got criticque yet will do the same sort of subjective wanking to newer stuff, its entirely rose tinted glasses and not objective

You’re so right about going into Pokémon presents hoping to see no games since the release schedule is really hurting the quality of the recent games. Can you imagine how much better legends Arcues would have been if it was released in Nov 23 instead of late Jan? And how much SV will be better if they released it in Nov 24?
They should just port over the old gens for awhile and take a few years to make a banger of a game
As soon as I saw Miltank, I knew exactly where that was going . MBF was definitely my favorite series on this channel. I think my favorite part about it was the juxtaposition between both your commentary compared to the traditional way of commentary and the juxtaposition between that series and your other videos.

The thing I never will understand is why ppl really expected Game Freak to keep the National Dex forever, Gen 9 already made the total a thousand Pokemon and thats a thousand Pokemon they would have to code into every single future game
And ppl dont realize that
They’re also co owners of the biggest IP. They have a few bucks and some time to spare.
Because as time goes by we are also getting more and more powerful consoles so at this point a console like the switch should handle 1000+ Pokemon when the 3ds were able to carry like 800 Pokemon in USUM
Also the problem wasn't on the dexit itself but rather that the devs said it will be a cost for better animations, game quality etc., which is a lie. They just reused the same Pokemon animations from the 3ds games, the gameplay is still pretty much the same as before with little to no innovations, voice acting is still absent, and every Pokemon switch game so far has wii level graphics
I wouldn't expect to keep them forever. However they should really have reached 1000 Pokémon in a single game before making dexit happen. Making it happen when they did with Sword and Shield was way too anticlimactic.
I think a lot more people would have been okay with the idea after reaching the impressive milestone of having 1000 creatures in a single game. Just like how most Smash fans are okay with the idea of the next Smash game not having every characters after the insane roster Smash Ultimate had.

Garchomp, Pangoro, Sceptile (and all the Hoenn starters), Decidueye, Grimmsnarl, are some standouts of their respective generations.

Don’t worry fam your good. I myself wasn’t a fan of Meowscarada at first until I used it in game
Meowscarada, or rather its first form (I don't remember its name, haha), was actually my first choice.. and I personally prefer its design much more than the other 2 apex evolved starters from Scarlet and Violet. In addition, I also really like its signature move, as I could dish out guaranteed critical attacks :)

@@djdrizzy9139 Likewise, for myself.. but maybe not like that. ;-;
I just kind of thought they were really cool.
I loved it the moment I saw it but I was still disappointed that it became bipedal. I was really hoping we'd finally get a quadraped cat starter but of course Game Freak decided to make it bipedal this gen. Even tho every grass starter stays on 2 or 4 legs throughout its evolution but they stopped that trend this gen. Kinda sucks but I still like it's design tbh. I just love it more and more. I still wish it was quadrapedal :(
I’d love it if Game Freak dedicated more time into Scarlet and Violet even after release. They have a lot of potential, but not all of it has been fulfilled. Also I’d love a Pokémon Platinum remake because it’s my favorite.

Thank you so much for mentioning gen 5
It was my first ever Pokémon game, and I’m super nostalgic with it, and I also just think it has one of if not the strongest story of a mainline Pokémon game. Also the Pokémon are the best looking in my opinion, and I think they get way too much hate.
I used to hate Samurott with its quadrupedal design and highest stat being Special Atk despite having a moveset that's mostly Physical based. With the release of its Regional Form, some issues were mitigated and now the *Dark Ronin* became my favorite Hisuian Starter.
No you dont think that, its called nostalgia. The ones whod rage at it were having blind nostalgia too, they were called genwunners, now the kids who grew with the ds behave the same as they did, pretendign this group of rpg games with similar quality to later and earlier entries is divine and perfect while everything else is terrible for some weird excuse. Ds babies are just genuners but born in the 00s
the fact you try to wank the story while other games had story focus too and in that it was just a wall of text of n acting nonsensical because his arguments couldnt work without making the trainers evil is good enough reason to show "my first ever game" is all that matters here, you have babie memories and confuse them with quality. Its not a bad game at all, but neither it is overhated or overrated, just raged or wanked at by different generations of narcisists depending on wich game they grew with
I remember watching your videos so many years ago! Your voice hasn't changed lol (i think its nice)
The only thing I’d say with nicknaming people is that if you’re going through a new region it’s sometimes hard to remember their actual Pokemon name
People?
A recent Pokemon opinion of mine that changed involves a story with Sprigatito in my Scarlet playthrough. I wanted to box my starter ASAP as I did not like the starters in this gen, especially Sprigatito with it's final evolution. I lost a bet and had to pick it, so I was very upset. I couldn't find a good Pokemon to replace it with so it just... became a main stay on the team, but I still resented it.
But... During the Champion Nemona fight when it was just my Meowscarada left, I kinda... stopped hating it and grew to at least respect it as it just destroyed her last two team members with ease. This is why you don't judge books by their cover.
To be fair the second poll was Japan only and Dedenne won because some big Poketuber or person their it was their favorite so people made it into a meme

My recently changed opinion was my favorite type being Fire but after doing that same sheet that made you change Leafeon to Espeon, I realized far more of my favorite Pokemon are Fighting types, especially with new additions from Pokemon SV in Great Tusk, Koraidon, and Annihilape. I've realized being Fighting type allows for far more variance in design and concept compared to Fire and as the Gens went on, more and more dope Fighting types came and influenced my preferences
Very much appreciate your love of Koraidon. It’s not exactly on any of my favorites list but too many people have hated on it.
Koraidon has an awesome shiny. The red and gold bands go nicely with the black color scheme. Hopefully, they'll release it

I definitely relate to the Zacian one. Didn't happen until Unite, though, since I don't really play competitive battles in the mainline games. I loved Inteleon, never stopped defending its design, and it got a respectable place as my third favorite Pokémon behind Ultra Necrozma and Falinks. Then one day I did the favorite Pokémon picker, and realized that Inteleon became my favorite pokémon without me even noticing.
I'm love the fact that me and Auraguardian have the same fav pokemon - Infernape, Lucario, Dialga and Koraidon and ofcourse the love for Gen 4
When sun and moon was new I was team popplio and it's still one of my favorite starters today. Many fans made fun of us for choosing it instead of litten. Let just say it was glorious seeing their reaction to litten's final evolution from the leaks. Thank goodness it not a fire/fighting.😂
"PLEASE MAKE A STARTER THAT DOESNT LOOK LIKE ITS FIRE-FIGHTING"
@almostnamedone6069 We do have that now though-
@@haillemichels9486 ik but both cinderace and incineroar loo fire-fighting. still funny
@@AlmostNamedOne Cinderace looks more Normal or electric to me.
ayy fellow popplio enjoyer! when i first played through moon my brother made fun of me for picking it over rowlet or litten but man did primarina be a good team member
The reason people don't like Gen. 2 anymore is:
1. There was a video essay saying it wasn't very good, and people will immediately make up or change their mind if a CZcamsr says something
2. A lot of people who are older now are Gen 5 kids who haven't even played the games and think that anything on the Game Boy is "outdated".
The only thing I'll agree on with Gen 4 being the best is that it does have the best game, it's just not any of the mainline ones because they're all pretty mid.
I've played those games. And those seriously have A serious issue: AWFUL LEVEL CURVE. Seriously, the level just doesn't scale properly during the midgame making the lategame very grindy, because of course it's best to make the trainer with a level 33 Feraligatr face hordes of level 17 Rattatas and Zubats. Clair was fine but the Elite 4 was not, the rocket plotline was boring, and so was Pryce because of him being the 7th gym in my playthrough.
The punches were cool but making mother a waste of money was not, which thankfully got fixed in the remakes (The choice scarf is worth all those useless berries and potions). The rival was too easy after an actual hard fight in the 2nd one, specially the ones who picked Totodile, and the new pokémon were way too few, and most of them sucked AND were ridiculously difficult to obtain, or in case of houndour, POSTGAME ONLY. Also got cheated by the slowpoke tail seller, but that's on me. The TMs were definitely a big downgrade of gen 1 as well. Is also tedious but it's to be expected in gameboy; at least it no longer obligates me to catch mons to get good items and has a functional exp. share. Is not the worst because that title goes to gen 8, but is tied for 3rd worst with gen 7.
3:28 DAMM now I know why mandjtv hate milktank so much
8:27 When I pick a starter pokemon, I personally stick with them until the end.
love the Avatar the last airbender and some my hero acedamia names at 6:33
Bdsp aren’t bad games, just terrible, terrible remakes.
Well they asked for a remake of Diamond and Pearl. They just should've said what they really wanted was a Platinum remake.
@@primrosevale1995 Even if it was a Platinum remake it would still be a bad remake, it would be Platinum but worse the same way bdsp is DP but worse. A remake is supposed to add things to the game, not outright copy and paste it while breaking stuff in the process.
@@tabbender1232 Nope. By definition a remake is "a video game closely adapted from an earlier title, usually for the purpose of modernizing a game with updated graphics for newer hardware and gameplay for contemporary audiences."
I feel like a fun video you could do is top 50 favorite pokemon characters from the game but its based on design only
Unpopular opinion:
When I think of how much I like Pokémon designs, while the newer generations are good and certainly more out-there, I always think of generations 1-4 first with some gen 5 designs. Could it be because the newer Pokémon feel more like character designs than animals? Perhaps. Is it because I grew up with generation 4? Perhaps. Could it be because some designs are hard to love without investing time to understand their origins? Maybe. But it could be just that I prefer the direction Pokémon went in with their designs with not only the main series games, but all the fun side-games too. Mystery dungeon, Pokémon Ranger, and even seeing their official art on websites made me exited since I could obviously not get every Pokémon in Platinum. You don’t really see side games for people to get attached to the newer Pokémon anymore.
You mentioning the side games reminded me how much I really want a new Mystery Dungeon (I WILL take a remake of Explorers), and Ranger.
I adored Explorers of Sky. I still play it now, and I've been using a randomizer to add something to each play through. Brilliant idea too, one that I highly recommend!
As for Ranger, the games obviously worked well on the DS and the stylus was perfect for it. However, I would love a new Ranger game, and it's long overdue. I don't see it happen, but I really want to be proven wrong.
It's weird to me people didn't like Black and White, I absolutely loved them and I think they aged gracefully
i still dont like them bc of the art style, too much black lineing
I feel like fans were really immature back then and only judged games based on the new Pokémon within each game. And I got to agree Gen 5 pokedex is kind of weak with a lot of Pokémon that tried to replicate the feel of Gen 1 Pokémon without much success. But the games have so much more to offer than just that and Black 2 and White 2 made it a lot better be bringing old Pokémon back into the mix.
@@wintersong2266 People bashing gen 5 is for me one of the biggest mistakes the fanbase has ever made in the series. It made gamefreak stop trying to do experimental stuff for a really long time, and until recently they finally tried something different with the legend series. (Gen 7 is an anomaly of itself since they changed the game structure pretty significantly)
i used to use nicknames as a kid but stopped as i got older. however i started again when gen 9 came out and i love doing it
5:51 There is one isuue however, Pokémon has a anime and trading cards that keep with the games. If they took multiple years off, those would either stop for years on end, or become very repetitive.
Man if only the games had some kind of post-game battle frontier stuff that the anime could leach off for a few years.
Anime, TCG, all them can take a break too. How can they expect to take these unfinished games and make something truly worthwhile out of them? Just slow down, I don't need more to be disappointed with.
Focus them on the side games.
I really used to like the 3D models too but recently I’ve been playing through black and white 2 and I really wish they could go back to the animated sprites because it made Pokémon like excadrill and Charizard look so much more threatening
If we get animated sprites I want them to be like the ones in Mario and Luigi rather than the ones in BW. With natural movements instead of the grainy artificial rotations.
I'm still disappointed with what they did to my boy excadrill with 3D models, he looked so cool in gen 5.
The problem isn’t that 3D is somehow inherently worse than 2D. The real problem is that it’s much more expensive to make over 10000 3D Pokemon models look dynamic, and Game Freak is cheap.
They never had to animate them doing moves in 2D. If they had, I guarantee you they would’ve looked bad back then too
Typhlosion. Gen 5 Typhlosion to Gen 6 Typhlosion is criminal. For some reason he completely loses the fire on his back for his idle animation.
@@Iliketrainskidclone - That’s because he was always meant to only have the explosion when attacking.

never happened to me, never will
the only starter I regret having was during Gen 3, here’s what happened:
I picked Torchic during my first playtrough in Ruby when i was a middle schooler, my friend decided to borrow the game and reset it so he can play with Mudkip and returned it to me, and I was deeply frustated, so I pick Torchic again in Alpha Sapphire first playtrough, then I picked Treecko later to try out different approach while decided to never touch Mudkip ever again due to that
I have strong determination when choosing a starter, I never had any outside influence
for example
I picked Cyndaquil during my first Silver playtrough, and I keep choosing it in Heart Gold, Legends Arceus, heck even in Emerald and ORAS where it became starter choices
same goes with Squirtle and Piplup
and about the recent generations, the only leak I was exposed to was Sword and Shield, and the first time I saw Scorbunny, I was touched and determined to pick it, and then Scorbunny final evo got leaked, it exceeded my expectations and I love it even more
same goes with Litten and Sprigatito, I don’t care what people say about them being bipedal or furry, I only saw 2 strong Dark Cats, and as a cat lover, I love them
the same reason for Snivy and Froakie as well
i love scorbunny and cinderace, because cute, and also cinderace plays soccer/football
I saw myself frame one of the video. This is awesome
I remembered Dexit came around I was completely worried that some of my top favorites won't be in Swsh and it did at base launch but since GF adds more Pokémon in the DLC and next games it doesn't matter to me anymore (The only that I liked that hasn't been on the Switch is the Snivy line)
My Favorite Pokémon had been changed over the years, My favorite used to be Glaceon as a kid bc I love Eeveelutions and Ice types and then in the next few years it became Gardevoir because of its Mega Evolution and Shiny and Several years later My Favorite Pokémon recently is Zoroark since with the reveal of its Hisuian Form.
I personally still hate Dexit because I had a ton of Pokémon that I always transferred to the newest generation and now I can't for basically arbitrary reasons. It basically gives me no reason to play any post-game if I can't use what I want
I swear I am a reverse pokemon fan... I loved Gen 5 (especially the sequels) but I actually dropped out of the fandom for Gen 4... I still don't like them...
I was on Team Sobble from the very start, and after seeing the final stages, my choice didn't change.
It should have changed
Nice video, also hoping for 2d games, would also be awesome to see some ports, especially heartgold, cause i have no idea hoe to homebrew my oled
1:20 Leafeon was My favourite Eeveelution too but it's now Sylveon because it was awesome In my X Playthrough
I didn’t like incineroar when sun and moon came out, it was my second least favourite gen7 Pokémon. I’m a big cat person and was disappointed when litten, hoping it evolved into a cool quadrupedal tiger, evolved into evil Tony the Tiger. Although now still like the other two alolan starters more, incineroar is in my top 50 favourite Pokémon of all time. Basically, it as to do with being in smash. Even though i would’ve preferred decidueye, incineroar grew on me. Principally because of a character in alpharad CPCS series blue incineroar (winning two tourney in a row while being labeled as an underdog compared to regular incineroar narratively) and that later on playing as him in smash was pretty fun, definitely top 10 most fun characters to play in smash for me.
I originally did not like sneasler from leaked images. In game though I became one of my favorites.
10:48 absolute mood tbh! Happened to see that video as well and it made me wish for the main Pokémon games to go for that style 😮
I used to not bother with nicknames either. But it's something I've started doing now. One because it gives each Pokémon more of an identity and two because I kept getting my nameless starters mixed up upon transferring them all to Sun since I have multiple of the same species.
My naming skills still leave much to be desired through, I have enough trouble naming only my player character in other games, but maybe I'll get better at it in future.
I want to eventually go back and rename the old Pokémon too but it's harder to come up with names I'd be satisfied with for them.
10:11 Ok incoming rant because I’m sick of hearing that Gen 2 is a lower tier Gen. In this essay, I will present the case that Generation II is one of the strongest generations with one of the single greatest impacts on the franchise.
Point 1. The Split
- In Generation 1, Special Attack and Special Defense were one stat, the Special stat. This led to a massive imbalance favoring Special Attackers like Alakazam or Exeggutor. Generation II saw this imbalance and split the Special stat into two: Attack and Defense. This made the game far more balanced to the point where now a Pokémon with a sky high Special Attack stat doesn’t also live any Special hit.
Point 2. Psychic
- I don’t need to go over this, everybody is aware of the much needed nerf of the Psychic type in Gen 2.
Point 3. Moves
- A lot of moves introduced in Generation II have become staples in modern battling. Shadow Ball, Sludge Bomb, Belly Drum, Crunch, Steel Wing, Baton Pass, Curse, Destiny Bond, Encore, Extreme Speed, Giga Drain, Hidden Power, Icy Wind, Protect, Mach Punch, Megahorn, Mirror Coat, Morning Sun, Moonlight, Outrage, Pain Split, Perish Song, Pursuit, Reversal, Safeguard, Sleep Talk, and Synthesis. Not to mention balancing out other moves like Recover which had 20 PP in Gen 1. Moves were a huge part of what makes Gen 2 so great.
Point 4. Pokemon
- Generation II began the trend that we see to the current day, power creep. Sure Generation 1 had some impressive stats, but Gen 2 put it to shame. Pokémon like Scizor with a sky high attack stat that it can actually take full advantage of, Steelix with unheard of defense, Blissey with unreal HP, and Umbreon with incredible Special Defense. The power of these Pokémon is undoubtedly unmatched by any Gen 1.
Point 5. Mechanics
- And lastly, Generation II is the source of a great deal of mechanics that have stayed true to this day. Friendship, breeding, weather, and most importantly, held items are all from Generation II. Friendship while not the most popular mechanic has allowed for new evolutions to old Pokémon that have become beloved, like Sylveon and Crobat. Breeding is central to competitive play. It allows players to be able to get the most desirable traits in order to get the best possible Pokémon for battling which cannot be understated. Weather to this day impacts battling to the point where entire teams form around weather conditions because they are just so impactful. And lastly held items define Pokémon. From Nuzlockes to competitive to regular play throughs, held items cannot be understated. And it all began in Gen 2.
In conclusion, Generation II is far from the worst generation. Rather it is the reason that Pokémon exists the way that it does or even at all. Gen 2 was supposed to be the last generation of Pokémon. But due to its success, Pokemon went on to become the most successful media franchise of all time. Generation II is one of the most impactful generations, and there is no sustainable argument to the contrary.
Not reading all that. I'll say that Gen 2 made some much needed improvements from Genwun and is an objectively better game. The level curve is kinda fucked, but it's not that big of a deal. People make a mountain out of that molehill.
Plus it's 2023. I'm pretty sure you can mod Gen 2 to have better progression. Or do that with the remakes.
@@espurrseyes42 But I spent a whole four minutes of my life on that 😢… the TLDR= The Special Attack/Defense split was good for balancing, Psychic got a much needed nerf, the new Pokémon were balanced but power creep was still present in a healthy way, the new moves were much needed and remain staples to this day, weather, breeding, friendship, and most importantly held items are the best things to be introduced in any generation thus making Gen 2 necessary to the franchise and one of the strongest generations hands down
I don't agree with the sprites thing, it's more that game freak doesn't put as much detail into the models as they once did in the sprites. It's not an intrinsic issue of the models, if game freak did put as much soul and care I to the models and actually used them to have cool animations and stuff, I think people would see it isn't just a "sprites were better"
6:41 i see that you nickname your staravia as sora too, i been using this nick in every flying mon since gen 1 (pidgeot, swellow, staravia, unfezant, talonflame and toucannon) i also nickname all my eletric mons Raiga (Raichu, jolteon, manectrike, luxray, zebstrika, jolteon e vikavolt)
Honestly, I would like to see a stylized 2D animation if/when unova gets remade
Not necessarily sprites, but something similar to what Nexomon does, where they’re vector animations of the Pokémon but smooth lines. Happy medium between sprite art and 3D models for the game that first flexed it’s skills in fully animated sprites and 3D overworlds.
An HD pixel art style like octopus tg could also be cool, but personally I don’t find that style visually appealing for king play sessions, especially when docked on the switch. The pixel art doesn’t scale as well in higher resolutions
I used to think Pokemon needed to go 3D, but now I want it to go back to 2D.
I used to dislike GSC before it was nitpicked, but I appreciate it now even more.
I have a theory that the female avatar in Crystal is related to HeartGold and SoulSilver's Executive Proton.
I believe Ash peaked in Sinnoh until I analyzed his entire team. He really sucked in that saga!
I once thought Dawn had a better arc than May, but nowadays I've come to realize May had better character growth and story pacing.
I used to love the real-time based data in GSC, RSE, DPP, BW and XY but now I have no patience for it.
I mean red & green was developed for 6 years & while that game is popular they got multiple problems 🤷♂️ longer development time isn't everything I can argue that can be worse than you think
Personally I don't think pokemon needs to be like other games but if the quality is improved then that's nice 🤔
@bruhmoment1548 bruh...🤦♂️ well I think it's a valid point not just in video games but ANY product look at Windows vista that took 5 years to develop & it got multiple issues to the point MANY people hate it so yes this DOES prove longer development time isn't everything & wasn't there a game launched a few years ago that had multiple issues that people gone on about cyberpunk 2077 it's called right? That had a long development time apparently 🤷♂️ red & green had a tough development & yet people loved it so I fail to see how I am wrong & why that's a bad example to demonstrate my point lol don't know why pokemon yellow is revalant here that's a different game though based on red & green
@bruhmoment1548 sounds like you're saying it's how you use that time with your skills & resources available to develop a product which is basically what I'm trying to say 🤔 it's just that people tend to think "oh this game made with 5 years development time means it's great"...I'm trying to show that's not always true that's why I said development time isn't everything while yes it's important you're not looking at the full picture there.
Regarding red & green, game freak & nintendo sort of got lucky really that pokemon got popular that time because those games from what I understand aren't perfect filled with bugs & other issues (no wonder why pokemon blue version in japan came out 🤔) but the idea & fun gameplay just clicked you get me? 🤔😂 pokemon could have died long time ago but luckily it didn't 🤷♂️
You got to remember that these games were made from point zero, they used those 6 years learning how to make a RPG and the whole Pokémon formula
I think the only other Nintendo published game they made for the game boy before Pokémon was the Yoshi puzzle game wich sucks
8:33 i think this is more so in that more people know how to make videos and how you can see shinies before fighting them from pla onward with various methods that people learn and share it makes sense that there are more shiny find videos as there are more shiny hunters that post their finds
Woah Klefki love. That’s rare. I love to see it. It’s my second favorite Pokémon period, and sometimes I consider it as tied for my favorite.
I can relate with the Ash opinion change after watching the final arc of his journey
Made me remember all the emotions I went through watching him back in the day
Just wished we got a more complete ending and tribute to every character
I like the models better than sprite, not gonna lie the sprite did have the retro charm factor with it.
But one thing I think is an unpopular opinion is I hate the battle circle platform in x and y where your Pokémon stands on, in the sprite era it looked fine but on models it looks terrible, so much so they removed it entirely in oras.
I'd like to see a sort of Pre-make where they take one of the 3D games (Gen 6 onwards) and make a 2D version of the game with sprites and everything
Nicknaming certainly helps when starting in Gen 8 you can rename traded Pokemon once if they don't already have a nickname.
i don't like gen 5
but idk if i will play it
i lost multiple saves of this game
so i never finished
and i don't want to start again for the 10th time
I liked greninja instantaneously. I also liked hisuian deci. I also loved klefki and the abominal. I dont give all pokemon nicknames, i have to feel the nickname naturally. I also liked the pokedex cut because we always kinda had it. In addition to this players should be forced to only use new mons so they can develop a relationship with them.

We tried telling everyone this 4 years ago in June 2019, but people didn’t wanna listen. The fanbase wanted to have a schism instead
9:17 Deoxys and Charizard are definitely not the same color. Deoxys is the color of tomato soup after adding a dash of sour cream. Charizard is Kraft Mac n Cheese colored.
I can say that let TPC agree to let ILCA do half of the games, because you can see that they have a knack for graphics and would relieve GF from what TPC gives them to do. Whatever you say about BDSP, it's a very pretty game
the backgrounds are so cool and detailed, especially the Grand Underground backgrounds, whereas the 2D games just had a blank screen as a background
the pokemon center floors were so polished too

I've seen the games graphics and no, it doesn't look pretty. In fact there were moments in the game I thought looked ugly and awful. The routes with the mud and rain look especially terrible.
