Elden Ring: Consort Radahn Guide | No Summons or Ashes | Melee Only

- You're average players guide for beating Promised Consort Radahn without summons, ashes, or spells. My goal is for this to be approachable. I'm rune level 150 and this was on NG+
Looking up guides I saw a few hitless runs, and a lot that relies on co-op/mimic tear. I like to play solo and just melee so these didn't help, and I'm not good enough to replicate what the hitless players do so I figured i'd made a guide that I think most players can follow regardless of skill level.
This guide does not rely on any specific build, but just in-case my weapons talismans are listed below. This kill was on NG+
Weapon: Noble's Blood Slender Sword +25
Talismans: Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman, Shard of Alexander, Two Handed Sword Talisman, Erdtree's Favor +2
Flask: Deflecting Hardtear, Opaline Hardtear
Stats: RL150 - 50 Vigor, 40 Endurance, 16 Str, 45 Dex, 50 Arcane

Hi All - I just want to thank everybody for the positive comments & feedback. I'm glad my methods of presenting information works for other people, and I hope I can continue to make good videos.
Please be on the lookout for more!
See this Elden ring community? This is how you make a true guide, no ashes no summons, no super over the top builds that would make even Godfrey cry himself to sleep,
A literal breakdown of every attack and how to evade.
Thank you for making this video, you are the hero we needed.
I play a lot of WoW and based my guides around how raid call outs are done, I'm glad it's a good approach!
@@TheHeroBoyNamedFin You even have the voice of a WoW raid lead, I should’ve known!
this is a pretty generalizing and mindless comment, also obnoxiously elitist.
those guides are just as much guides as this one is, and i love them all, but there is no "true" guide to beat bosses, only many guides for many builds which are just as viable as each other depending on who you ask, and that includes summon and ashes guides.
dodging guides like this are fantastic though, they are the ones that taught me how to dodge the light pillar attacks in phase 2, but could we as a community stop it with this nasty elitism? this aint the bloodborne and dark souls tryhard era anymore.
@@flamingmanure What an obnoxious elitist he is,only wanting a simple guide that doesn't assume using a certain build/cheesy mechanic!
Agree I'm still bashing my head against this boss all day. I'm exhausted but cannot stop trying. His second phase is so annoying. All the lights make it so hard to see :( I enjoy a challenge but this is just ridiculous

Give the hardest boss from ever made another person holding on to him with long hair so I cant even see his moves good job Miyazaki
I still believe malenia is more difficult on first run no summons and at the appropriate level. But since there is no way in being overlevelled for this boss fight due to the dlc levelling system then I believe this fight accommodating for everything then he’s more difficult but not because of moveset but because of BS similar to bed of chaos BS
Skill issue
I know, right? Looks like all the philosophy behind this DLC was to give bosses chains of 358823405890348903428098034 attacks, always have them 2-3 shot you and not allowing the player to see shit (either because the camera gets to Mars, or because there is simply too much shit in the way).
Honestly best guide ever! I was so obsessed with killing this boss, my wife was gonna leave me. Great explanation!

FYI the factor for spawning near the entrance in phase 2 is a bug that occurs with every phase transition in Elden Ring. It happens when you enter the transition cutscene with a riposte.
Yes, i have noticed it in Maliketh. I always avoid riposting Beast clergyman to phase transition because it messes up the script for phase 2.

@@reyne2077 ah i see
For that double slash attack that seems unevadable there is two ways ive found. This first method is tricky to get used to but consistent when learned. Instead of dodging the first slash, do not input any direction and press the dodge button. This has you sidestep back and not roll. This still gives you i frames and allows you to recover fast enough to roll into the second slash in time. The second method requires decent reaction time but is the most simple. In this method as soon as you see hes about to do the first slash of the attack, roll asap and then roll asap. If for both you roll early into him with minimal time inbetween rolls, i found you will dodge it but this method can be inconsistent because it is hard to react and can require luck. Hopefully fromsoft fixes this buggy attack in a future attack.
Also if you manage to roll the first swipe into him and slightly left, the second swipe will whiff you, giving you easy window to punish after you dodge the X. You basically have to hug his right side (your left) after dodging the original slash.
For the backstep method you need a talisman for the i frames otherwise you will not get i frames with a backstep. Im pretty sure
I did a parry build vs rhadan, so I ended up getting him into his second phase with ripostes enough that I figured out that that's what changed the positioning. If you get him into phase 2 with a normal attack, you spawn in front of him. If you got him into phase two with a riposte, you spawn where you did the riposte.
now THIS is a guide. it genuinely broke down every move, and did it with me understanding it. thank you, youre real.
Thanks this video helps a little. Been fighting him on NG+7 with no summons or cheese. Hardest boss I've ever faced in a video game
Going into the dlc at NG+7 is insane. It's the first thing I'd consider changing before looking up a guide.
Dang, I'll be trying again in NG+2, I can't imagine how punishing it is at ng+7
It's fucking brutal man. I've had more deaths here than the main game combined
Same. I have one other save that can access the realm, but they’re a caster, and I’m far from used to it, so I’m sticking with my NG+7 one 🥲
@@divin2428 Final boss is so hard haha, never been stuck on a boss for so long, I might just have to respec and try a build that procs more bleed
really good stuff, I would add that at 5:37 you could run backward instead of the right. If you created enough distance by running after the rocks each of the 4 projections are going to miss
@ the mirror and the signal of sound reflection, Stream paramore's the new for the projection of window by heart< Walk up tot a mirror place your hand infront of it and look from and angle and you should see your reflection break apart within it, you are just a frequency Entertainment through the signal space had no right to merge into my heart, Stream Melanie martinezes weird body merge album Get the fuck out of my body converting my projection get the fuck out of my body you guy's had no right to drain my portals to this mind reflection get the fun out of my body blowing me kisses get out of my signal I did not think you get the fuck out of my body.
Fair, I rarely had that much distance though
Running backwards is actually a guaranteed dodge for that. You should only run right if you do have enough distance to the point where the projections won’t reach you.
@@zaynthemaneIt's not guaranteed. His version is better because it works no matter if the boss is close to you or far
Don't think any other FromSoft boss flashbangs the whole fucking room on a huge screen as much as this guy! That was one annoying part of the boss (the over the top visual effects, one of those even lags the game a bit on PC it seemed). Other than that it's a crazy fight!
It’s the first time I’ve seen such a comprehensive and understandable boss guide for this juggernaut of a boss. Your explanations are concise and video has great general quality. I really appreciate the advice.
I literally beat him a couple tries after watching this video. I can't believe as a souls vet I didn't think of dodging towards him as though that isnt the cheat code for 98% of the bosses in this series. I'm not trying to be a smart ass at all. Thanks for the help brother. Very well spoken. Goal for video was an explanation for normal humans and that was spot the fuck on.
@@tonyluiscomedy thank you! Congrats on the kill
You forgot to mention the most difficult attack to dodge, in P2, if you get hit by the vacuum pull magic attack, he will start an overhead echo attack that explodes in the end that I still haven't found a way to dodge and it deals massive damage.
Yeah honestly, if you get hit by the vacuum in p2, I had no clue how to avoid the follow up attacks, but you can dodge the pull in same as phase one, so with enough practice it's not an issue
You dodge it the same way you dodge it in phase one, but that wasn’t covered well in this video. If you get pulled in, immediately run away from him and then jump away as he slams down. Do it right and you take zero damage (aside from the pull you got hit by). In phase two, it’s the same. I often get chipped by an afterimage, but you just roll his actual slam then run away and jump just like the first gravity slam.
The best way to avoid this is to run and jump for each of the attacks. The whack a mole attack after the first gravity vortex can be out ran with a run and jump for this version only. Doesn't work for the other whack a mole versions though.
Best way to avoid it is to not miss the dodge on the grav pull, and if you get pulled just put your controller down and sigh
you dodge the first gravity blades same as phase 1, just spam roll away. Then he jumps up, you need to dodge roll the echoes. Once he actually lands, don't panic roll, he delays the gravity blades. If you just run and roll right as he swings, you should be able to spam roll through it like phase 1
One other thing about the fight, it doesn’t matter how overpowered your build is. You and Redahn are in a cage match, you either fight him close up until your knuckles are bloody and you’re seeing stars or you get impaled
If anyone struggling with phase 2 but pretty much downloaded phase 1, He only mentioned radahn do follow ups after echoes. What he didn't mention was what are the follow ups radahn does after the echo or clone or hologram whatever. The Follow ups are just the same combos or combo enders he does. Like after the echoes of the meteor attack. he does the huge light explosion combo ender where your biggest source of damage like he said in the video. So next time you dodge the echoes. don't get excited too much about the follow ups. those follow ups are the same attacks you've already seen before.
Good shit my man. I’ve been bashing my head against this wall for days now. Time to finish the job.
one thing i've learned while fighting this boss, NEVER roll right on his big strings in phase 2. you will be blinded by the aftershock and camera angle.
Thx for the tips, can't wait to beat this poorly designed boss.
Just wanna add on, its possible to dodge his left right swipe combo by using blind spot on the first attack, which dodges it, moves you out of range on the 2nd attack and recovers in time to let you dodge the third just in case some of yall are trying this with backhand blades
THANK YOU!
This is the exact guide people need to help with learning bosses and getting better. Excellent guide!
This is the best guide I’ve found. It’s clear you have talent as a creator, I hope to see more of your stuff in the future
This comment may honestly be my motivation to keep making videos, thank you, I really do appreciate the feedback
Bro this is by far the best guide ive found!! Good stuff brother i appreciate the guide 🙏
I wish I had this guide 2 days ago when I gave up and just went bleed + fingerprint shield + mimic tear and blocked my way to an unsatisfying win. I'll have to do it clean on NG+ now.
I still can’t win using a shield + mimic 😅
Phase 2 obliterates my mimic even with a 9 blessing level

Worth noting that when running away from the meteor attack he does, you need to run towards the Gate of Divinity that's opposite the fog door. If you run in the general direction of the fog door, you are very likely to get hit, but the shockwave doesn't seem to extend far enough towards the opposite end of the arena, making that the safest option
This is a great video: well explained, with clear examples and matched visuals. You aim this well at the average player, and don't predicate any of it on build-specific strategies. Very welcome and appreciated.
That 3 swing swing combo has infuriated me so much
i accidently perfect dodged it a few times, but could never replicate. I think you just need to start in a good position which is a little RNG
You can backstep the first hit and then dodge the following 2 normally
If you dodge straight into him on the first slash and do absolutely nothing after, the second will just go through you, very consistent (but might get patched because it looks unintended). With like thousands of ppl trial and erroring im surprised no one has brought it up, though
Edit: am on ps4 might be a framerate thing, but doesnt seem like it
only good guide for radahn, no cheese builds, no broken builds. Just how to fight him, thats all. Even tho i already fought radahn , its good to see some guide not talking about easy strats, but how to fight boss instead
Hardest boss for me to date… i thought Orphan of Kos was the hardest but this is next level insane. Going to study this vid a lot, thanks man
Spectacular guide, I also as a average player figured a lot of these out by copius amount of trial and error.
Another person has already mentioned this but for the rock throw attack in phase 2, you can simply create a large distance between you and the boss. You still need to run either left or right to avoid the rocks but the after-images will miss completely. Here count: "1, 2, 3, 4, dodge" and dodge once more for the aftershock. This is the same big window as "the most punishable move" presented in the video.
Punish windows of course depend on the speed of your weapon but most of the time you can get a single attack off after: grab, lions claw, a 2-hit combo where the second double sword slash is delayed, and another melee combo that wasnt mentioned in the video.
In the second phase, other than the circle, try to always close the gap and stay close. Some of his distance attack are simply too punishing imo if you get them wrong. Sure the gravity divebomb is easy but most other, including the jump-afterimage one, are hard. There aren't many ways he opens a gap anyway, The 6-hit after image slash opens a gap, the starfall opens a gap and thats pretty much it.
The left-right slash into x cross attack is complete bs, you are either frame perfect or get hit. Phase 1 is no problem but in phase 2 light aftershocks hit you also. They also mess up your roll timing so its a snowball effect really. Best advice there is to stay topped off on health to avoid instakills when you eventually get caught.
Fun fact: I think(?) the light nuke is actually dodgeable. Out of a shit ton of tries I managed to I-frame it twice with jumps, but never try this at home kids lol.
Thats all I had to say on top of the video, good luck everybody.
I just wanna thank you I finally beat him after a few attempts from watching your video but I will say I’m never soloing him again when I do a new game 😂
Thanks for the guide man I will beat him for sure now 😤

Thank you!
Just finished this fight on ng+1 myself. Took some usefil tips from ur video, thanks.

Thank you so much this is exactly what I needed. Just beat him and feel amazing! Thanks again!
10 hours deep into Radan pulls, I have decided to finally check this guide.
Thank you! This video greatly helped me to better understand his second phase and finally beat him 🎉
Took me about 100 tries, nonetheless, but I'm glad I didn't have to cheese/summon him 😊
Just spent hours learning to beat this guy without any cheese tonight, had to do a lot of trial and error. Then this video shows up in my recommended! Wish I saw it eaelier ha ha, great job making this guide!
Just beat him after like 6 hours of attempts and your tips for the second phase were a big help
brooooo thank you, most guides are either no hit or just shield cheese, thank you for making a guide for each attack and how to defend against them
This was so helpful! Beat him just now on my 109th try and it would most certainly have take waaaay longer without this video
Best video on this topic I’ve seen so far
amazing guide, may the gods bless your channel
Really nice guide! Although there are a few things I would like to add
You'll only spawn far away at the start of phase 2 if he took the last damage from a riposte
He has another clone attack in phase 2 where he flies up and comes down multiple times but slamming with both his swords, and on the last one, he lands (dealing no damage) then delays his attack, which is the same as that spinny rock spike thing that goes around him most of the time after his yell pull, so just spam roll, or run, away.
On the "phase 1 most punishable combo", he can also do a different attack after the first hit in the combo, where it's 2 hits with the same sword that can both be rolled normally, but only really fast weapons, like straight swords or thrusting swords will be able to reliably punish after this.
Also, a lot of weapons with guard counters that crouch you down (greatswords, greataxes, etc.) can be really good on that one attack where he spins around attacking with both swords, as if you use the deflecting hardtear (dropped from the first furnace golem after the scorched ruins) to perfect block the attack right before where he can sometimes do the follow up, then do the guard counter. On said weapons, you will crouch down enough to avoid the follow up with the guard counter, and can even get in more attacks after.
I really hope this help. coming from someone who no hit Malenia with a +24 banished knight halberd on an unoptimized build (while being summoned for 2 people so she had double health), this guy is the fromsoft equivalent to sticking a toothpick under your toenail and kicking a wall.
This is the most useful video about the dlc , Thank you man
I beat this a few days ago… had the same expression as you when I beat it. The delay attacks are so annoying and I like how you mentioned where to roll in these. Took me hours to kinda figure out how to dodge the attacks. Good looks man
Great video! I learned phase 1, but i just relied on my shield for many moves on phase 2. Blocking and parrying his overhand slash was my strategy.
2:45 That "front flip", is Savage Lion's Claw. If you use the deflecting tear, you can deflect, counter, and deflect again if he does the follow-up, and counter again. It worked with Katanas and Great Katanas, but you need to press the heavy attack button almost immediatly after deflecting.
3:50 You spawn in front of him, unless you ended phase one with a critical attack, then you spawn where you were. This happens on pretty much every boss.
Thank you this is the best guide I've seen so far
Awesome guide. I tried about 20 times last night after a long day of work. Today with fresh eyes I’m hoping I get him!
You got this!
OFC CZcams WOULD RECOMMEND ME VIDEOS ON HOW TO BEAT RADAHN AFTER I BEAT HIM WITH 113 TRIES, this was a solid video and I actually used most of the dodges here when I fought him, except for the Phase 2 Light Sword Attack Combo it always gets me at the end
thanks man , u are helping me a lot with the echo attacks 👍
Top tier video. Much appreciated!
Thanks for the guide, I have mastered the first phase to perfection, but in the case of the second one I die instantly and I had no way to practice it. Best guide so far, thank you
YES! YES! THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED! THANK YOU!
Thanks for the guide! Finally beat him
Perfect guide, exactly what every guide should be. This could be translated to any approach too. I also beat him with Square Off. I’m pure faith so I didn’t have bleed, but made up for it with the classic combo of Black Blade and Scarlet Aeonia (you can survive the cast during a riposte)
This is a really good video, thanks for posting!
Exactly what I have been looking for! 🎉
A normal kill video of neither a godlike player, nor an exploiter/Pokémon player.
Thanks 😊
The "YES OOH" at the end is what i want to experience! Great guide
This video is actually so perfect wtf? Please make more
I'm definitely going to try practicing everything in this video on my next character. I fought this guy for over 8 hours before I resorted to poking him from behind a shield with the antspur rapier, wearing full bull-goats with verdigris talisman (Yes, I was fat rolling). I have not resorted to cheese like this since my first playthrough of Dark Souls back in 2013. My pride is tarnished, but I may yet redeem myself thanks to this video.
Didn't know you could jump away from the meteors like that. I found light roll was the only reliable way to dodge them but of course that at the cost of a lot of poise and defence. Was also nice if I ever got caught by the gravity pull attack but my winning run never actually got caught. Still the only way I was ever gonna beat him.
Fantastic guide.
Glad you got it! Yeah light rolling changes the strat slightly, but most are the same I think
my brain: understood
my hand: roll to death
I think they need to give us sometime to breath in 2nd phase, the atk felt like never ending
You, sir, deserve a new subscriber.
The cadence of your voice and the pacing of the video are top notch.
Just cleared this like 5H ago after banging my head against it for 2 days lmao I needed you!
Still watching this though because I'll have to fight him again eventually and I'm far from perfect 😭 thank you for this!
Another tip, when you break his poise, you have enough time to drink a flask to heal yourself and then riposte him, then drink another flask while he is getting back up. Though you will have to had the flask ready and spam the drink button right an away for this to work.
With that opening attack in phase 2 when you run out of the circle you can stand completely still to not get hit by any lightning
If you parry the lightspeed slash or Light Echo It completely shutdowns the slash sequences and also the one that ends with a light explosion
Thank you a lot ! I like this boss, but hes very hard and i didn’t want to cheese him. A lot of people seems to hate him because of the difficulty so they tend to cheese him and that’s kinda disappointing. This guide is really perfect thank you :)
Love your guide! Always stick to him and run after him when he dashes away (other than the meteor shower) to get the melee atack spam instead of his other bullshit.
Would've liked if he wouldn't be countered by parries, shield pokes or dueling shield... as it is easier than even using spirit ashes.
Thats the guide I was looking for
8 hours and 30 minutes it took me, dual handed blood backhand blades, used bloodhound step with the fp restoring talisman is god send…wish I had this back then, survived on 31 hp from 1975, bleed proc finished him
That one two cross swipe and phase 2 can go die in a fire, remove the light beams and it would make this fight so much better, I mean it fails as a boss, it punishes you if you roll backwards but you need to lock on to see his attacks! Your amazing man
Dude I’m so glad u made this normal guide cuz I’m not cheezing my way to elden lord😂
Thank you for making this. I’ve died to this man countless times, I have phase 1 down really well but phase 2 feels almost impossible. It’s absurdly hard, I don’t know how anyone does it hitless it feels impossible to me
There is actually a way to dodge the triple slash -- The "Fine Crucible Feather Talisman".
This item causes your backstep (B with no direction pressed) to have the same i-frames as a roll, at the cost of taking 15% more damage. This means that upon seeing his left hand move at any point, you can backstep away and into a forward roll; because the backstep is shorter than a roll, you'll be able to avoid both hits any time you successfully backstep the first swing. This is 100% consistent once you get the timing down, the catch is that the first swing is so fast it's very hard to react to, especially if you need to remember to backstep the one specific attack. This isn't much different from deflecting, but deflecting will likely not be available in P2 as the phial only lasts 3 minutes or so.
Just throwing that out there -- Your call if you think it's worth taking 15% extra damage for the potential of being able to always avoid the triple slash if you can react quick enough.
At 3:50 the position is determined by whether you critical hit him into phase transition.
Really good guide man good job
This is the best guide I have watched I’ll be sure to use all the tips
Good luck!
@@TheHeroBoyNamedFin I was able to kill him no summons so thank you for the guide those after image attacks were much easier to dodge
Thank you for making the best guide on youtube! I beat Radahn within a hour of watching this video.
Nice, glad I could help
3:44 i think this has to do with whether you did a critical hit or not to transition. This is the same for maliketh aswell, if you transition through a critical hit you will be where you were before transition, if you transition through normal means you will appear infront of him.
The guide I needed, if only I'd seen it before I beat the boss on my 100+ try
thanks for the guide! I am still struggling with him.
This fight is so incredible. Took me like 10 hours but its like my 2nd favorite boss fight of time
What's the first
Thank you! Great guide!
The double slash into cross and 2nd phase aoes after each hit are straight up BS.
The aoes are there to punish you if you weren't already rolling properly, if you're circling the boss with your rolls the same as you should be on phase 1, they will simply miss completely
@@Volsraphel look bro i like phase 1, it is a 10/10 but i would rather have a completely new moveset or transformation in phase 2 than the cheap aoes and echo attacks.
The double slash is a little problematic, the AOEs are literally just Gael's cape attack. It's the exact same thing. Roll the right direction, you're good
@@buckyhurdle4776 i just beat him. 2nd phase is bs. Instead of making a hard moveset they just added aoes and clones to him which feels cheap. This is not fun difficulty. I love challenge in video games but only when it’s fair and not artificial
That is excellent. Great guide.
thank you so much, thing is most people say to look at the hitless runs to see the patterns but everyone is always at light weight and since i myself am using mid rolls i was wondering how to dodge some of his more complex attacks. thank you
HUGE tip for melee players. Farm a few runes and buy a full stock of fan daggers from patches he should have an infinite stock after liurnia. I was perplexed that after like so many tries I hadnt stance broken radahn ONCE but once I just started throwing fan daggers at him while hes too far and doing nothing it actually kept the pressure on his stance bar and I break his stance always in phase 1 now sometimes I even break it just by throwing the daggers. Ideal times to throw daggers is when hes in neutral and not doing anything, when hes in the air for his gravity ball attacls and also after he does the gravity circling thing you roll back from after you get sucked.
Extra side note: when hes doing his sword slam rock tornado thing. If you jump right before he slams his swords down, you can dodge it and get a free jump attack off on him
In terms of the phase transition, from what I can tell (I could be wrong), if you are solo you are supposed to be moved to the center. If you hit the threshold with a critical attach however you are not moved. This only applies to hosts, if you are summoned for this fight you aren't moved (With this, if you are host, you may want to move closer to the summon, as can be pulled rather far apart).
Damn, even though I killed him using a shield and a thrusting sword, this guide is giving me confidence to fight him straight up again
