Radahn's fight allows very little room for improvement and honing your skill, rather being designed to be tackled with summons in mind so you can redirect his rather unforgiving aggression. Both of these bosses are Tuesday for Ongbal anyway lmao
I think that people are complaining simply because the increase in difficulty from other bosses compared to him is just insane and how much more insane phase 2 is compared to phase 1, no other boss is anywhere near as hard as P2 Radahn imo

Every good speedrunner/player of souls like says that the level of skill required to kill radahn in 1v1 shouldn't be this high, and I agree. If you can dodge 80% of the boss attack and still dies, it's clearly bad design.

I always learn more of the fights watching you than doing the fight myself, in that its actually safer to be right at his face as it looks like a blind spot to most of phase 2's delayed AoEs. Thank you for such a masterful showcase
For some of them using the additional jump height (or jump time idk the ash well enough) from the raptor of the mists ash of war clears the hit boxes of the aoes being close just allows for quicker attack recovery and better prediction for aoes that start from radahn
i think this boss is actually kind of cool, teachin people to not panic roll away all the time. (but they could have done it somewhere else ^^ not at the end of a hard ass dlc :)
@@Icyhot_majin its the fine crucible feather talisman, but you can instead just use the all crucibles talisman, it gives the effect of the fine feather as well as every other crucible talisman (be warned, you take a lot of extra damage because of it)
The back step is only possible if you have the talisman to give your backstep i-frames. I’d honestly say it’s easier to shield, parry, or deflecting tear it. Since you don’t need to use a talisman slot (which can improve your damage by 20%, essentially making this fight 125% faster. Or it can defend the damage taken for more survivability).
FromSoftware has to make a secret optional NPC boss/invasion inspired by Ongbal. He barely has any health and uses a very basic weapon, but he can avoid damn near every attack unless you have even more precise timing, can counter your parries, emotes as you're flailing around and even walks to his own "camera," then switches to flashier weapons for criticals. If you can somehow beat him the game credits roll.
Took me around 100 tries to beat him with hookclaws. Looking up how this guy does it not hit helped immensely as in p2 towards the end Radahn starts doing some weird fucking attack that is hard to follow due to flashes exploding in between the swings.
Fueled by ravenous hatred and actual countless attempts, ongbal took it upon himself to master every single move radahn had his disposal, only to counter every one of his now futile attempts of attacking with a swift and excruciating stab to his ballsack

Ongbals method of dodging the double slash by sidestepping the first slash and rolling the second is ingenious. The sidestep recovers faster giving you enough time to roll through the second. Rolling the first swing is inconsistent because sometimes you don’t recover fast enough to roll through the second attack.

@@skoop4477 you can avoid the attack occasionally being too low to be hit. Depending on where you and Radahn are in the arena, since the floor height is variable, sometimes the two swipes will just miss entirely. I’ve tried dodging to the right and I still get clipped every now and then.

The Fine Crucible Feather Talisman is a literal game changer. Opens up so many more possibilities to avoid damage and retaliate with backstep attacks. Fun and functional, just don't get hit.

You can tell it's hard as hell when you see someone using a rapier or paired straight swords. Nothing in the base game can force you to use these setups.

Ongbal only uses the fine crucible feather talisman but if ur trying to do an rl1 kill of pcr and u want to have backstep s get the Talisman of All Crucible in Rauh as that'll also give u the extra roll s from regular crucible feather
It's something I'm glad they reintroduced, backsteps used to have s in previous souls titles. I was pretty disappointed to learn they didn't in eldenring, backstep attacks add a nice variety to all weapons but with no s it's seldom meritable.
@@Sekiro_lover I'm pretty sure all souls backsteps had s prior to er, the wood grain ring from ds1 made the backsteps significantly farther/longer. I only really utilized it in ds2 pvp, but I could be misremembering. I'll look it up on my next break

@@azure4622 Things that warp the fight like shield poke, parries, ashes of war with immunity frames, summons, perfume build that 2 shots, the new bleed spell so quite a bit actually! Any of these things make the fight a lot less impressive than the ABSOLUTE MASTERY displayed in the video!

unless you have a gimmick build, parry is probably the easiest way to kill this boss, fuck dodging his shit in p2

Many people knew how to avoid it. Deflecting, parry, even strafing then rolling sideways to entirely avoid the second hit works.
The problem is that its unavoidable with normal roll...

Ongbal only uses the fine crucible feather talisman but if ur trying to do an rl1 kill of pcr and u want to have backstep s get the Talisman of All Crucible in Rauh as that'll also give u the extra roll s from regular crucible feather
that backstep into a roll for the double swipe attack is gonna be sooooo useful

It's something I'm glad they reintroduced, backsteps used to have s in previous souls titles. I was pretty disappointed to learn they didn't in eldenring, backstep attacks add a nice variety to all weapons but with no s it's seldom meritable.

@@Sekiro_lover I'm pretty sure all souls backsteps had s prior to er, the wood grain ring from ds1 made the backsteps significantly farther/longer.
I only really utilized it in ds2 pvp, but I could be misremembering. I'll look it up on my next break

Curious to why he’s not used parrying. Seems a popular choice for other bosses, on RL1 runs especially. Wonder if it was “too easy” to parry for this boss or if it made it harder?
Absolute perfection! Dodged everything, no cheese, only used raptor of the mists for the nuke which is fair game!!!

@@azure4622 Things that warp the fight like shield poke, parries, ashes of war with immunity frames, summons, perfume build that 2 shots, the new bleed spell so quite a bit actually!
Any of these things make the fight a lot less impressive than the ABSOLUTE MASTERY displayed in the video!
