- I realized I compared ISLC and Empty Standby List.exe to Smart Trim as "brutish"- but I meant to say that those things *only* worry about standby RAM and cannot nudge programs to "let go" of any pages in memory they no longer need. Still applies and makes sense, just wanted to add some context.
Thank goodness someone didnt copy & paste every other video & actually went digging into what & WHY change stuff instead of copy & pasting 4content. Another banger Klem.
My man 👊
This helped me. Thank you so much. Mashalla
Thanks! I learned a lot! 😊
This video was VERY USEFUL and helped me increase by FPS on streets by almost 20 so far.. and I am not even done tweaking it! Instantly subscribed to your channel. Seriously, thank you.
Holy- I didn't even think it would help *that* much! I'm glad to hear it, dude! Hope it helps even more :)
Thank you. Thank you. You made the video I was looking for to share to my friends! Im shit at explaining most of these things and you just covered more than most youtube videos on process lasso.
Glad to hear it! I wanted to throw my hat in the ring for it since there was a lot of people continuing to discuss it. Thanks for sharing it dude :)
Definitely gonna take another look at my lasso settings. Yhanks
Loving all your videos. You are great at explaining all these details.
Thank you! I try my best :D
Again thanks for your Testing and indeepth Look into this topic
Thank you for this video, I've always had tarkov on high priority bc that's what I thought is the best and that's what many other people were saying in their tutorials. I've changed it to normal now.
You probably won't see any measurable difference either way- its like giving a guy a ticket to get priority boarding when he's the only one boarding.
i know klem's channel will blow sometime in the near future.. keep the good work up my fav dude
❤
Yes, this applies to arena as well. The only difference that I've seen is that more people are GPU-bound in Arena, so it likely applies to less people.
Thanks for making this Klem!
Something I've been wondering is whether there's any (or enough to prove counterproductive) CPU overhead BY ProcessLasso when setting many background/less-essential tasks to custom scheduling priorities. And if so, maybe there might be a game of just limiting it to one specific core (I'm on an 6 core i7-8700k, so maybe core 6/thread 11) or set of cores, that would obviate this overhead when gaming and CPU bound (as I am)?
Any thoughts? Ty again, I definitely need to read the documentation since I've been using this for years lol
That's an interesting question. I do not think there is *much* process lasso overhead as once the governor lowers the priority (or anything else) of a given task, it doesn't need to constantly re-apply it. Limitng the task to one core *might* be useful, but I'd say its the most useful on CPUs with a bunch of extra, more idle cores to spare. I wouldn't go overboard wit the task adjustment too- I'd just set some unimportant side-software like RGB-bloat to lower priorities or throwaway cores.
Great question though and thank *you* for watching dude :)
by turning off hyperthreading, you gain some fps to the maximum limit, but 1% low will be lower
Amazing piece of software, not just for improving the performance of the game but it's also great if you're a streamer using the x264 encoder especially if you don't have access to NVENC, if you have an AMD Graphics card for example.
With Process Lasso you can give the Game all the P-cores and give OBS all the E-cores, this way you should see minimum loss in game performance.
Exactly my thoughts. Thanks for watching it man :)
Ive heard disabling hyper threading for AMD CPUs was very beneficial. I use it on a 5800X3D and I forget if I got a performance boost but I did notice less stutters. I’ll try some tests when I have some free time. This program was always interesting to me and never tinkered with it
When you disable Smt on process Lasso did the green bars turn whote for you it does no5 for me.
@@JuniorC809 I do not get white bars when I disable SMT or hyperthreading
Got it, probably only a Intel thing.
Klem youre the goat man, ty for this video
You all are the goat, much love dude
hi can you help?? my EscapeFromTarkov.exe status says ''limitet''? does that effect performance and how to revome it? thank you for good tutorial and explanation keep it up
classic klemintime moment, not putting the link in
I ADDED IT in the description!... I knew I'd forget something 😭
Which settings from lasso would work with a ryzen 7 5700G, 3070 TI FE and 32 gb of ram DDR 4 3600 mhz, i watched the whole video but i didn't touch anything other than CPU priority to high
so i use all my cores or i disable hyper threathing and disable only use physical cores in tarkov?
process lasso is an amazing tool, I use it for alot of things other than tarkov.
Around the 7:30 mark you ticked all the cores and your performance went up. Would you recommend keeping it like that? I’m having massive stutter and fps issues currently. I7 13700k and 4070ti
Yeah, I'd leave it at standard, even though some people can have positive impacts switching e-cores off (to boost higher with P-Cores VIA Bios). If anything, check and see if your bottleneck is with core 0, as disabling that with just tarkov may help if you have a lot of stuff happening in the background. Not a guarantee, but that might be worth a shot.
Thanks, great video. Using a 7800X3D, do you think disabling SMT with PL is the same as doing it in the Bios?
Not the same thing. When you disable it in BIOS, it disables the feature completely for every application. With Process Lasso, you pick and choose. Also, changing it in BIOS also changes the amount of power your consuming based on what chip it is (its probably not a TON on the 7800x3d but still it affects that too).
Unfortunately no fps difference with any changes from process lasso. Fps still dips to 50s 40s when scoped in, using 3700x + 2070s 32gb
In the cpu affinity tab, when the check boxes appeared, should I only check the boxes that resemble 2,4,6? I have a 6 core, 12 thread processor. I also disabled smt through lasso and I noticed micro stuttering. I turned it back on, and disabled the “0” core, and I haven’t noticed any stuttering.
If you have a 6 core, you disable hyperthreading by disabling threads 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11. You might be noticing slightly less stuttering when disabling core 0 as there can be some windows processes on that core (or other background tasks if it isn't scheduled correctly).
Been using for years I love it with all apps
ISLC and process lasso both cause issues for me. ISCL cause my cpu to heat up 5-10 degrees more than when the app is closed and causes blue screen crashes, and process laso just crashes my game while loading the map usually.
Weird. Is it auto-changing the power plan?
Is putting the game on more cores beneficial?
Hey man! I’ve gotten the Process Lasso to optimize my music daws but none of the studio daws or other apps on my computer, are showing in the software.
If you could please provide a way for me to solve this issue will be very much appreciated!🙏🏿
Weird. My theory right now is that it may not be seeing all process. Ensure that it selected to "all processes" in the middle right under the graph. Secondarily, make sure that under the "main" settings that "Manage Process of All users" is checked. If that doesn't work, hop in our discord and describe your issue and me along with the rest of us can help you further!
Sounds good! I’m still experiencing the same issue. None of my music daws are showing up on there and other apps.
I just joined your discord
Im with i7 12700f. The past few weeks ive been trying to optimize that damn game I have only problems on streets.
From not being able to play on low fpw dropping to 40/50 now im almost maxed out with my 3060ti on 1440p fps goes from 85 to 110.
All i did was moving every process i could to my four efficiency cores and force the game to be on the rest.
Nice! Just as a note though, if you ever notice any apps feeling sluggish on the e-cores that you use regularly (discord or your web browser, for instance), then feel free to set those back to the main cores to help them be smoother. It will cost some CPU-bound performance but obviously will make those apps more responsive again.
@@klemintime1452 So far I cant see any problem but i'll test with other games as well.
i have a i7--7700k i disabled use physical cores in game and used process lasso to enable cpu 0-7 it seemed to give me a fps boost
I did the same and i have same CPU Did u change anything what were your results about to go into a scav run on customs right now to see
Do u also have priority set to high?
And do u mean u checked all 0-7 cores?
What's the program that lets you see all those stats in the top left?
MSI Afterburner! There are plenty of guides all over youtube for it; its pretty simple 👍
What’s the point of using process lasso for core selection when you could just use PBO? (if you have an AMD cpu)
Sorry for the late reply, but I did briefly look at this at the end of the video and have made some recent discoveries with the allocation. It definitely allocates ~90% of some people's VRAM buffers even when its not wholly required, and my personal theory is that the *allocation* is overflowing to system memory.
Don't spread that theory too far, but that's my idea so far.
I’m about to upgrade to a i7 14700k. Been using i7 7700k for the last 5 years. Been using Lasso for ages now. Will I need to use this on the 14th Gen
Likely *not* as it seems like the e-cores can marginally improve performance if used correctly. Though if you notice any abnormal performance behavior, you can use P.L to easily disable the e-cores for the game and see if it helps those issues.
Looks like I’ll be doing some testing to find out. Keep up the great work your doing with your videos.
This guy should be hired by bsg, can fix the whole game in couple month.
They definitely are wayyyy more knowledgable than I am but I'm glad I can help a little bit 🙏
I dont understand what i need to do with my ryzen 7 7700x for beter performance in tarkov
So i still dont really know what i should do. I have an Amd Ryzen 7 2700x, so wich cores should be checked and wich not. There is no core or thread with "E" behind it.
I dont really understand this stuff and dont want to play around with things i have no idea about.
The "E"s were just from my CPU but could be ignored for my explanation. I do have a PT 2 to this video that I just uploaded less than a week ago on the channel specifically detailing that topic, so do check that out.
Long story short, I'd recommend possibly disabling the first core (CPU 0 and 1) for Tarkov and moving background apps like Corsair ICUE or Razer Synapse to the first core to separate it. Just don't put browsers or discord onto a single core and it *should* marginally help performance depending on how much you got going in the background.
@@klemintime1452 Okay thank you for the fast answer. I will definitely watch the video and try your recommendations. Thank you so much, i hope it will get me some fps ^^
Im confused. Should I enable all cores, including eco? I have a 7950x
avoid non v-cache
which cores of the list are my physical cores ? i got 24 options to chose and im not sure! is it 0-11 or is it 1,3,5 ... or is it 0, 2, 4 .. ?
Normally its the even one (0, 2, 4, etc). What's your CPU though? Depending on that you may want to set them sightly differently, so let me know.
@@klemintime1452 thanks for your answer its an 7900X
@@mstarz Perfect. To make it short, since its a dual-CCD CPU (6cores on one die, 6 on the other) set is on 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 for the first six physical cores.
@@klemintime1452 thanks imma try it
nearly identical PC build and still 60% of GPU usage and 25% of CPU usage on Streets
How to know what can be lowered in priority? Like why not just lower everything but eft to the lowest?
Doing that could cause issues in the responsiveness of important things like your desktop and isn't normally advised. It's more useful for controlling apps that you install yourself (like RGB software, discord, Chrome, etc)
@@klemintime1452is there like a preset that I can apply when gaming and otherwise have it as normal?
@@nocodenoblunder6672 I believe so, but it's kind of roundabout way to do things. If I recall correctly, you can make separate ini files for the config and swap them out, and you can read on that here: bitsum.com/processlasso-docs/ini-config-file/#:~:text=By%20default%2C%20Process%20Lasso%20automatically,stored%20in%20this%20same%20location.
Can you make a guide for ISLC explaining how to use it and how works?
I've made some in the past, but it likely needs a redo just to explain what it actually does. I'll put it on the calendar ✅
@@klemintime1452 should i turn off "only use physical cores" when using process lasso?
Question on cores why is everyone disabling core 0 ?
They disable core 0 (CPU 0/1 if hyperthreaded) in an attempt to limit the amount of tasks that interfere with the game. Windows can schedule small background apps on that thread (or other applications could run on that) and having that thread be bogged down with those background tasks and the game could cause issues performance wise (two trains, one track if you get what i mean).
They take Tarkov off that core so that the extra tasks don't interfere *as much*. If you have a light and debloated OS install, it likely won't help though. Hope this helps a little!
I tried this, and i have 60 % GPU usage and 40% Cpu usage on streets but i only have 70 fps in the same spot. Where is my bottleneck?
i can do everything...my i9 13900k give me the same fps :(
14:20 funny of you to think tarkov doesnt take 100 percent of my cpu.
AMD users look into fTPM stutter.
What is this?
This App is for poor people right? None that is of any concern for us blue-bloods, correct? Anyways, you´re a mighty fine chap for taking care of those who "live" in the nether regions of PC gaming. Carry on!
Tata!
How did he know
Actually i have 7800x3D and i had to disable SMT - for intel its hyperthreading , incerases is about 20 fps.. its cool, but with amd gpu its bad, better to buy nvidia.. i have 7900xt as gpu but its really bad, cant figure out some good settings and there is no-one on youtube who is doing some peformance tests & guides.. :(
