- Today, we battle it out between Nick a UNSW alumni and Helmi an alumni Macquarie (MQ) University to see which Food / campus is better. Over 10 Years has passed and both Universities has changed a lot, we are going to take you down our college memory lanes.

First up is UNSW - University of New South Wales, Nick takes you on a UNSW campus tour of the university, some of his old Media Lab or Lecture Hall. There are plenty of new and oldschool selection here. They have upgrade the roundhouse, added a few new eateries and of course if that isnt enough you can stroll down to Kingsford if you are wondering what to eat in Sydney while at the University Campus.
Second up is Macquarie University. Conveniently located just next to Macquarie centre with access to Trains, definitely has a lot of food choices. Helmi takes you on a Macquarie University Campus tour to find some of the best food here.
Macquarie University also has a brand new food court area called the Central Courtyard Precinct - its got some name restaurants like Soul origin, Viet, Papparich and even Lanzhou Beef Noodle.

I'm an MQ alumnus, so I have a bias for my alma mater haha. It has changed heaps, gosh! Thank you for the mini virtual tour, brought me down memory lane, especially the part where you crossed the road from Macquarie Centre and walked up towards the main part of campus.

Actually, there is a restaurant located on the top of the UNSW library, which is called The Lounge. It provides 3-course dining at reasonable price, but only opens to UNSW staffs
Yes seth! helmi was pestering me to go to Macquarie quickly and we were losing light! :P i know upper campus has more! haha - i shall see if i can try that next time
I was impressed with all the international flavors at MQ, but the fact they have a campus pub.. wow.

I was at MQ like 15 years ago and i was able to get a beer and steak for like 12 bucks. I thought they always had a pub?

Helmi's prawn and noodle dish looked so yummy and $12 was a great price. It's cool that you ran into Nick's brother-in-law while on your adventure!! Green Tea with Mango Juice sounds great, and cool they have juice spots at both Unis!!
Macquarie University had such a beautiful campus Helmi and so much greenery!! Love that they have a lake there too! We wouldn't even want to go to class with all the nature surrounding. That fried chicken sandwich with egg and sambal sauce looked so yummy. We love fried chicken.

This is great, thanks guys. We have some fantastic eateries and cafes on upper campus at UNSW, too. XS Coffee, The Little Marionette, Mathews Food Court, plus heaps more. I would love to see another uni food tour.

UNSW has Malaysian food at the upper campus food court which is close to the Library. There are laksa, curries, and variety of noodles.
Hi Nick and Helmi, please try next time a laksa at "laksa delight" and a salad with anchovy red wine vinegar dressing from "stock market" at a food court located in the upper campus (near the library) of UNSW, they are really nice!! btw, I enjoy your video every time, keep up the good work!

What's up professor?! For us, it's always fun to go back to the towns where we went to school, and especially to those restaurants where we used to eat. And bars! Yes that's a good deal. Student prices are the best.

Team Macquarie here. Chiropractic dept represent! Did you shoot that during last week's uni break?! It's hard for me to set a weekly food budget... Lol. I'm there 3 days per week and that new Central Courtyard is my go to place. You also picked the best cofee at MQ!

Hi Nick & Helmi, enjoyed watching ur channel. Abt d Nasi Lemak burger, not sure if u've had it there. But D Mconalds in Singapore once had Nasi Lemak burger. Heard it was really popular. Hoping to try it wen I go back to sg for d hols...hopefully wen d skies open again!

I was a UNSW student who used to have lunch at the Roundhouse with my brother who was a former student there as well. Like the pasta, pies, sandwiches and fish and chips.
I studied at UNSW from 1994 until 1997 and they used to name burgers after the famous beaches around Sydney .
Since finding your channel I've been going through most of your videos but it's taking a while but I will get there so I'm glad to see a more recent one. To me the food foreign to me is interesting instead of the same ol in the United states

You can't beat Java Hut in Randwick. Straight after our psych lecture our group would head straight up there for Resoles and then Adam Goring Mantega, fished with a Es Kachung

Nasi lemak burger from Papa Rich! Agree it's pretty good despite some weird elements that we won't find in burger normally. We tried it around 2 years ago when they first launched it for limited time. Haven't tried it this year though, would love to try it again 👍

Went to both but Macquarie looks amazing now. The SAM building is completely different. When I was there you made your own sandwich at the bar and weighed it to figure out the price.
Ohh during my time, there was Chinese restaurant upstairs SAM building with 2 or 3 choices with rice. I missed the aunties & uncles😆

I know right, UNSW all the way! Back then, no bubble tea shops at all, current students are so lucky😅
MQ also has Chatime, and in the shopping centre they have more Chatime, Coco, Milk Flower, Sharetea, King Tea, and I believe they used to also have a Gong Cha pop up but it closed :(
The Burger and Fries looked really good, and it seems like they have some great prices there too. As you know when you're a student, you're pretty much broke, and every dollar matters! LOL. Sucks to hear the wings were dry. They definitely needed more sauce!

Yup Roll'd is pretty nice right Daisy, they have now so much outlets. I remember Ubar used to have cheap deals for student with pizza/burger + drinks 😊

Laksa in matthews food court unsw is a must to try . I think macquarie change a lot as well, got so much different types of cuisine. I literally go to Monster all the time for their yakisoba and their ice cream.

Mamak village in UNSW used to be expensive yet so horrible in 2012-2015. Hope it turned out better.

Macquarie is very pretty and there are tranquil escapes from the stresses of study but also UNSW also was great as for a choice - I am going with Macquarie even though some of the food was weird but there is a lot of choice with the Macquarie shopping centre and food hall - sorry Nick. I had a uni friend who was an exchange student from Macquarie and he told me Australia is more expensive than the UK and after seeing the foods in the uni campus here I can understand why. Don't u guys have like a meal deal or something? No wonder he is used to cooking his own meal 😂
Pretty good options of halal foods there tho. But then again AUD12 for a noodle. Thanks, I'd rather have my Indomie 😭 I don't even know if I can survive as a student there. Would be a nice idea to vlog about the cost of living as a student there 🤔🤔 Back in the UK, £500-550 could last me for a month and this includes rent + utilities and food (and a little bit of shopping!)
Hahaha I (helmi) used to be international student and yes Indomie was my main meal lol and I cooked simple food like fried rice, fried noodle etc 🤣 Today's price is a lot higher too 🥲
