- Footage of the session for the film and album, "Tárogató".
with Dino Soldo, Tárogató .Marius Golhammer, Bass. Christian Frentzen, Piano. Marcu Möller, Drums. Tobias Hoffmann, Guitar.
Dino is a multi-instrumentalist who has played with Beyoncé, Lionel Richie, Leonard Cohen, Ray Charles, and others.
He began his interest in the tarogato by "getting to know" it on tour with Leonard Cohen. He became fascinated with introducing the instrument's subtle personality traits to other listeners.
The Tarogato is a Hungarian instrument very close, in sound, to the soprano saxophone. But it is warm in timbre and the tuning can be very "microtonal". Dino plays it here in a standard Jazz format with his band in Köln, Germany. - Zábava

Thanks
My best regards
Mario,from Ont. Canada
Good music and good musicians, nice sound on Tarogato !
amazing track i love it
Great to hear you play the Tárogató Dino! I found the instrument when looking for interesting reed based, with strong feel for Soprano Sax but a real desire for the Oboe. Meanwhile, looking for cultural sources (I'm Hungarian descendant), I found about the Tárogató, and also the Turkish Clarinet, at the same time, and those are really distinct tones among the reed instrument family. One day I'll own and play a Tárogató - for now it was great to hear you play it! Enjoy 2022 with great music and friends!
Also… Please let me know what records you’re playing on. Love your playing man
Two songs I wish you would cover on Tarogato, Dave Brubeck - Take Five and Keith Mansfield - Before Summer Ends. Both of those would sound absolutely fantastic with the Tarogato. Especially Take Five, that would be literally magical.
Very nice
Love the sound the Tarogato..
Thanks guys..
Regards
Mario
Fabulous. Love it!
Nagyon szép, köszönöm a zenét. :)
What is the fingering like compared to clarinet or other more common woodwinds?
Great tone Dino!
Love hearing these horns out of their traditional context.
Very curious to what make of instrument, mouthpieces, reeds you use? And if you know any tarogato players in the midwest?
Thanks Bert!
Bert. If you can make it to the Windsor Lionel Richie show tomorrow at Caesars we can play a little together back stage and share notes. Give me a message at twiiter @dinosoldo
