I admit I do not know the original but this sounds great. If this was my intro into the group/artists that did the original well I'd be a fan of them based off this video.
The band is C4. They only released one album called "Call to arms" back in 2001. It features covers of songs by Batio's previous band's, Nitro and Holland.
If you like Mel's vocals, you owe it to yourself to listen to some of her family band, Liliac. They've done some great original stuff in the last couple years, but they built their following with covers like Crazy Train, Enter Sandman, Holy Diver, The Trooper, and a bunch of others, and they pretty much killed it every time. If you want a taste of them live, and to see how their original stuff sounds, watch their video of Mars, live from a show in Cummings, GA. You'll also notice that her brother Sam is a guitar monster.
