I'm happy to see some of you customizing guys picking up on these Corvairs. They have very cool lines and once you guys get the stance right, they look amazing!
customizing??? what is that custom rust all over it??? It's a bag alright...a bag of (I'll be polite here)...poo. A little kid with a paint brush and a gallon of Tractor Supply tractor paint could make it look better then you would have something to do a Y/T video about.

Glad to see you have made it south. I will be in your town next weekend Memorial weekend' 24). I picked up a 63 spyder convertible this morning from a scrap yard that was headed to the crusher. It is a complete car with a title!! Can not wait to get into it to see what I have. Great video!!
Isn't it bizarre going to Helen when avf isn't there. The town is so empty! I absolutely love helen. Can't wait to go back. Glad the corvair guys enjoyed yours!
Growing up, our family had a 64 Monza convertible (110 / 4sp), later on I had a 66 Corsa convertible (140 / 4sp). My Mom worked at a tire store and was given a free set of Michelin radials, it was funny seeing mechanics shake their heads when my five foot and a bit mom tried to tell them the tires weren't flat. ;-D I read about someone, successfully mounting a Tornado drive train "behind" the rear seat (notch for a pulley) of a second generation Corvair. Seeing that I thought about a transverse front wheel drive V6, then saw a video of someone using a Fiero drive train but it couldn't fit "behind" the rear seat. The only way of moving the Fiero V6 behind the rear seat is to custom build Hummer drop axle adapters, but have them horizontal, likely mounted to transaxle? ;-)
I took my bagged custom satin painted corvair van that I drove 170,000 miles in a little four years to a 100pt corvair show……..I got a 11 😅😅😅 Killer corvair dude
That would have been awesome, man! I walked around your late model but you were also speaking with some people. Hopefully our paths will cross again soon!
Thanks Elliott! It’s been a really awesome community of people over the last 10 years I’ve owned mine. They’re always so excited to see a young guy doing something different with a Corvair. It’s pretty cool.
My parents actually had a 62ish red corvair station wagon in the 70's, centainly one you don't ever see today. My sister recently told me it had a fitting end and was sold to a guy that raced derby cars, it didn't end well for the old Corvair! Lol
A few people have made late model wagons. I always wanted one but I don't have the skill. In Brazil, there is the Chevy Caravan. Never got measurements, but it looks like a corvairish wagon but a different front end as it's front engined. Even has 4 round lights in the rear. Look up Brasil & Caravan. It looks like the two married together would be a great late wagon.
Few know this but.... Corvairs were conceived when someone locked a VW Beetle in the same garage as a '63 Impala. Not sure which was the mother but true story bro.
Great work! I used to have 2 Corvairs, a Turbo and a 4 carb Corsa. When I first got the 140hp, it only had 2 carbs, I installed all 4 and it was transformative! I wonder how difficult it would be to add 2 carb mounts on yours? Also your BMW is very cool! (What year and model is it?)
@John Ludwick Hope you like it. And you should ride up sometime, there's a place beside where the hang gliders jump off that's great for pictures and awesome views. 👌
I was like "Chopped? That car isn't chopped, what does he mean?". It is chopped!!!! That's perfection, when a diehard car guy (and former '65 Corvair owner) like me will have to take another look to notice it! Love it! Thanks for uploading! Greetings from Sweden
Is that Corvair a Corsa 140 mph speedo I own a 65 Corsa, I put 4 2 bbl carbs, I had the car running 135mph, It would not burn tire, But it was fast top end. Great little cars
The Corsair is cool. This video came up on my list and had to check it out. That bmw is beyond cool and looks quite a bit like a notch. I’m guessing that you have seen the Lakewood build that Matt’s off-road recovery have.
Did you know that the Corvair was built to compete on race tracks against the faster racing Porsche's in the 60's ? It didn't work so they stopped building them because of oil leaks and engine fire problems.
can't understand why corvairs arnt more popular in the states they're one of gms best ever pieces of design . all most customisers do is destroy them with v8's and no vision

I was really surprised the car you took to the parts store the BMW looks like a 2002 but I didn't hear but I thought it would be noisy an bouncing but I guess you have been playing with bagged rides for a long time it was silent cause I have a 75 c10 lowered an its got a lot of cab noise an bouncy but its not on air

Came for the Corvair and fell in love with the BMW! Never heard of or seen one before, that would be a cool car to cruise around in.
Thank you, Rick!
Same here, it looks like it’s on a VW chassis (pan?).
@@evanmarrs353 Those BMW 700s were rear-engined from the factory with one of BMW's motorcycle flat twin engines powering it.
2" chop is perfect on that. It's small enough that it's not obvious to the layman, but it looks PERFECT and could pass for factory roof height.
Matts off-road recovery, has the coolest, four-wheel-drive, off-road, Corvair station wagon conversion.
I never thought a corvair could look so cool! Really nice job on the build!

Wish I still had pics of chevy dealer selling corvairs for $100 new. My uncle saved the motor mounts that saved corvair...
The first car I bought after discharge from the Navy was a corvair corsa turbo. I bought it as a turnkey for $300 in 1984
That’s amazing!
Corvair is bitchin' and that little BMW is pretty cool too.

You should get a wagon and put a late model front-end on it from seeing what you have done to urs i bet you could

Did you just find this Corvair with the perfect patina or did you work on the patina look yourself? It looks perfect. So does the BMW
