- My demo of the DOD Envelope Filter 440!
/ livingroomgear
This is seriously some funky stuff! Lots of people have been waiting for a reissue of this little green pedal from DOD, and now it's finally here.
From the webpage:
The DOD Envelope Filter 440 (2014) has Level and Range controls. Level controls the sensitivity of the envelope; adjust this control to tailor the triggering of the filter based upon your pick attack. With a higher sensitivity, a lower signal will affect the envelope's effect. In other words, with a higher sensitivity you don't have to pluck as hard to make the effect audible. Range controls the range of movement of the envelope's sweep. Counter-clockwise sweeps more low frequencies. Clockwise sweeps more high frequencies. The Voice switch allows you to choose which part of the filter sweep you want to emphasize. True bypass allows your guitar tone to remain pristine even when the new DOD 440 (2014) is off. This is a big difference from the original which would color your bypassed tone. The modern 9V DC power supply input make the pedal more pedalboard friendly.
I used my Fano PX6 through a Tone King 20th Anniversary Imperial in this video. Paul C Audio Timmy for some dirt.
damn, you sold me the pedal using that vultures riff! :)
Just picked this pedal up on the DOD website for 39.99 with free shipping. If anybody wants one, now is the time to get one! Also, anthem Crooked Vultures= awesome.
Its actually sold out 😪
Them Crooked Vultures, love it dude
I saw this video on the sidebar and was thinking about if this pedal would help get a sound for Gunman by TCV and lo and behold you played it in this demo. Very nice
***** any other pedals you'd recommend that cod get josh homme like tones??
@@ericchedgy1581 fulltone ultimate octave, and a Pog. I saw a pic of his them crooked vultures pedalboard with a ehx multiplexer, dont know what does he use it for though
sounds better with the DOD 440 by itself. real funky
Sounds awesome! This was the very first Pedal i bought, though I sold that unit and just bought a replacement
This guy is a Josh Homme FANBOY!
and that's JUST FINE with me!!
I had one of these back in 1988 or something. I dont remember it sounding this cool. I do remember I couldnt get rid of it fast enough. Gave it to a friend if memory serves. I dont remember it having a voice switch either. Ill have to pick one up again. Cool.
The DOD filter wasn't that cool back in the 80's. The filter sweep wasn't as wide nor did it have a reverse mode. I used to own one these. Sold it , got an AF-9 (Queen Funk box supreme).
Kinda like a way/compressor? Nice and funky.
Great sound!
Ordered Mine Today:)
Nice nice demo!
thanks!
Ok, you gotta point this effect is awesome after all lol
nasty pedal, love it
Could you perhaps demo this on bass? Sounds like a great pedal!
What if I don't want the true bypass? I want to be able to achieve non guitar sounding tones like in subterranean homesick alien
Get a vintage one. They dont' have true bypass.
Will it do living on a prayer/it's my life type sounds?
That is if used with od.
You're better to get a talkbox if you want that dead on, but you'd get relatively close with this.
whats the name of the first song?
You have QOTSA as your profile pic, but you don't know Them Crooked Vultures?! WTF!!! It's a band with Homme, Grohl and John Paul Jones from Zeppelin. Can't remember the name of the track, but they only have one album, so it should be easy to find out. Incredible band, incredible album, you're gonna shit When you start listening to it.
Corey Weatherford the track is called "Gunmen".
why do these envelope filter pedals sound like a freaking wah!... ?
+Luis Sutil because a wah is a filter pedal u dummy!!!!!
+Luis Sutil because wah is a filter as well.
A wah is a movable filter controlled with the foot. An envelope filter is a movable filter controlled with an envelope follower.
