In the UK we have armed police but they are like SWAT kinda, they only go if theres weapons involved. You can own guns under license but they are heavily restricted. You have to ask permission from the local police commissioner and have membership to a shooting range. When you buy the gun, you have to have the shop sign off a reciept, you then take that reciept to the police, they approve the purchase and then you can go and collect the gun. Pistols have to be modified to a minimum length, you can have double barreled shotguns, uzi/mac 5s and sniper rifles. I think you can own 5 guns at a time, your house must have a gun safe or you can have a locker at the range, and you can only transport them too and from the range. I dont have any personally but there are vids on youtube that explain it all.
