That's the exact cat perch I was thinking of buying for my 2 kitties, until I saw how much work is involved, and I don't have Grandma to help me, lol. Cats won't fall and get hurt, they land on their feet. Awesome job guys! God bless you both and all the animals. I'm glad everyone survived the storm.
Unfortunately they don't always land on their feet. We had a fairly rotund cat that thought she needed to lay in the window above the basement landing. It was only about 2-3 inches wide. She fell asleep and fell off the ledge. Thankfully she didn't get hurt. That being said, I don't think the cat tree is tall enough for them to get hurt.

Oh, grandpa and grandma, I'm so thankful that y'all, and the animals are alright and safe. Them storms can be awful bad. I used to have cousins that lived over to Grant City, Missouri, and other places, and I spent time with em at their farm, and they had one storm I'll never forget; scared me so bad. That was, oh, back in the 1960's. The lightnin don't scare me, but them bad winds sure do. Anyways, just glad y'all are alright, and over at Kyle and Shannon's too, and your son Matt too. Thank God both of you and Matt, and the dogs didn't get hurt. It worked out ok getting the pups in the house...now you know in a pinch that works. Too bad Matt has to deal with the fallen tree and hope this is the first and last time for that. Things can be replaced and thank goodness for insurance. This will take a while to get over for you. We have 5 inside rescue kittys and we got them the 7 tier big cat tree. They love it! It sits in front of our big windows overlooking a bird house and bird feeder with birds everywhere. They spend most of the day there.

Y’all might enjoy slip leads for your pups. You just loop it on and pull it snug. We have regular collars, but use the slip leads for walks, vet visits etc, and love them. They are inexpensive and super convenient. They also don’t tend to slip off, like collars can.😁

Try watering your mellons in the evening when it cools down and they will retain the moister better to keep from cracking. When you water in the mornings before it gets hot part of the water will just evaporate or dry up and the mellows will then not be watered enough. Mellows take a ton of water. You are probably watering enough. It's just drying up on ya before it will help the mellons. If you still want to water in the morning, make sure your mellons get watered every single day. That's how my little garden is the cucumbers in the cantaloupes are taking over the ground and I'm not going to disturb them so the weeds win in between LOL my tomatoes and cucumbers are gorgeous though right now and green peppers are doing well
I sure miss having my garden.
I used to grow a lot of beautiful cucumbers and tomatoes. Those are my favorite things to grow and if I really had more energy I would do sweet Chinese peapods and blue lake green beans nice big green beans and they were delicious.
I miss those. Oh well hopefully I can have some really cool exotic fruit in Panama. They have all kinds of stuff there and it’s fresh and I’ll get healthier.

We haven’t removed the one from the roof yet. We have to have someone come out tomorrow to do that. The insurance Company won’t cover it if we do it and cause more damage. We were only allowed to move what was in the driveway.

Hey grandpa… When the end of the cantaloupe has a nice clean dip in the stem area where it comes out, it is picked ripe more flavor. It can still have green splotches on it or look green, but still be ripe and flavorful inside

Hi Grandpa Adler. When the stems on the pumpkin are woody and they are all orange, you can pick them. You will have to cut them off the vine. They won't fall off. Watermelons also won't fall. I'd leave them on the vine a couple of days after the curly-q above the watermelon is brown.

This week was bad for storms for us too. Wind took my 5 gal buckets to water my 5 new trees across the road into the bean field! Lightening struck at corner of my house but got everything fixed!!
Those Bradford Pear trees will just split and break after they get to a certain height, and add a strong wind to it, and you've got an issue for sure. I hope there is no damage to the house itself. Just before I got married 23 years ago, the Bradford Pear tree that was in the yard of the house I was renting split and broke, and two large sections crashed down, but the house was fine. I cannot recall whether we'd had a storm or not. It was in May of 2000; so there very well could have been a storm of some degree. This summer we've had two major events a month apart that caused damage and lots of power outages in the city. We had several large branches from this one tree in our yard fall over the course of the two storms, but there was no damage, though it did trap me in the driveway until my husband cut it up. I live in the Memphis area. I'm glad that you didn't have any serious damage yourselves.

Grandpa put a cooling rack under watermelon & pumpkins & cantaloupes. Or use like chicken wire, That way it gets air all around it, but it isn’t on the direct dirt, your cantaloupe are mushy from wetness. Oh I’m so jealous of your tomatoes! Love, love fresh grown tomatoes! I know your probably kidding Grandpa but cats are verrrry flexible & jump from very high, land on their feet! That is a nice cat island! Winter will be snuggly! Try looking up Pork Chomps for the furrbabies, are not rawhide & will digest, but our tough chewer loves them for 4 years now! I’m glad everyone are ok with that storm. Ralph and LeeAnn, you can buy eyelets and a tool to set them from a fabric store (Joann) or hobby store (Hobby Lobby or Michaels). Once you have the tool, you can get extra eyelet hardware as needed. The tool is the most expensive part. You can replace eyelets that were torn out or even add extra eyelets where you need them. The eyelets come in a variety of sides as well. This will save you from having to replace a whole tarp because the eyelets are blown.
