I enjoyed the Crossroads show. I thought it was cool that Taylor grew up listening to Def Leppard because her mother was a fan of the band.
Def leppard = best band ever!
I second that!
Def Leppard in my book is a rock icon. I've been listening to your music for over 30 years!! Keep rocking guys!! 😎☝️
As much as I'm not that big of a fan of Taylor Swift, I do respect her as a talented lady (she doesn't need autotune to sound good), and she also has an awesome taste in music (she's been onstage with Def Leppard and even Bryan Adams). Joe's got a point - it's about sounding as "wrong" as possible. CMT Crossroads is about trying something new.
I often wondered why Bryan Adams and Joe Elliot of Def Leppard sounded so much alike and saw somewhere both used same recording studio abd shared equipment in studio.Mystery solved
Have not spent any time listening to Swift but will now knowing how popular she's become.
Perhaps Mutt Lange will notice Swift too
I enjoyed Crossroads!
What I don't enjoy is the intro and outro on youtube being 10x louder than Joe talking!
Bonus track on the DVD love from the sparkle Lounge album made me appreciate that song More after they performed it with Taylor and was the show that made me a Taylor Swift fan, and finally made me realize that there was more music out there besides classic rock, and I'm so glad that they did this show with Taylor Swift I'm not afraid to admit it I'm a Taylor Swift superfan now. I own all of Taylor Swift's albums.
You bet your ass it worked.
Still one of my favorite collaborations. I love how you guys morphed some of your songs into hers, and vice versa.
If you guys ever do a tour date with Taylor, I'm getting in my car and driving there.
This is an official ask, btw.
Def Leppard and Taylor Swift it works so well loved it, from a life long def leppard fan 🇬🇧
I love def leppard taylor swift crossroad i watch the video so many time.
My dad and me are biggest fans of yours and know i'm older t swift fans 🤣
I watched Them and Taylor Swift and i was crying i loved it though ,i couldn't believe it
.
I liked it a lot too! Their performance is cute!
Well said there Joe put some noses outta joint and if you are happy with it then so shout the fans 😎😎😎😎🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I really enjoyed Def Lep's and TS CMT Crossroads. She was so young back then, in the beginning of her career. I would love to see you guys collaborate nowadays, redoing some of her best songs, which happen to be in the last eight to ten years.
Please do that performance again! I loved every minute of it
I would love to meet Def Leppard. That would truly be a dream come true. There is no band I would rather meet more. Ive met quite a few 80's/90's rock/metal bands like Queensrÿche, Firehouse, Slaughter (RIP Tim Kelly), Trixter, Jackyl, Tom Keifer, Zakk Wylde, Savatage, etc... I'd trade all those experiences to meet Def Leppard. They are the reason I started playing guitar back in 1988.
I enjoyed the 'Crossroads' show far more than I thought I would. Taylor Swift was okay, her fiddle player (Caitlin Evanson) was brilliant and could have stolen the show had she been given a proper showcase for her talent, Leppard were very professional and sounded as good as I've ever heard them on TV. Bottom line, to me, is that everyone on the stage that night looked as though they were having fun and all performed well as a result. Whether the show really worked is debatable but kudos to Leppard and Taylor Swift for giving their all trying to make it work.
Glad you liked it. I liked both Lep and TS. I think their styles worked so well together because the Leppard influence is embedded in TS music, going all the way back to her mom being a big fan. You can hear in her country albums her devotion for guitar solos and anthemic choruses.
@@migueltoledo4404 Cheers! Weirdly I was only thinking about the show yesterday wondering whether there were any songs that would suit a female singer I'm working up a set with whilst the gig scene is more or less locked down. I decided there probably weren't but I may watch the DVD again for the hell of it. 🙂
Good idea! I'm not a fan of TS, but "Photograph" is a fantastic song and DL's performance with her voice, was amazing!
They should do a 15th anniversary reunion type thing in 2023 😍
Love you Joe
Def leppard❤
Great !!!
Wow, one of my favorite bands in youth. Great to see you on CZcams. Best Wishes ❤️
IMO Love and Hate Collide and Love Story were definetely made for this duet
Def Leppard definitely better then Swift but it’s cool she’s a fan of theirs👍
Their collaboration with Tim McGraw, Nine Lives, was better than their collaboration with Swift.
Cathy Peterson then why did they make an alternate version, Taylor Swift was far better
No_Stick_Drummer we are all entitled to our opinion. I think "Nine Lives" was a lot better. Tim and Joe's harmonies are much better than Swift's and Joe's harmonies.
And to answer your question on why they made an alternate version..... So they can preform it in concert without Tim.
Yes, but this wasn’t a true collaboration to produce new music - it was just a fantasy camp for Swift. I thought she’d do better but she just doesn’t have the rock voice or presence to hang with Def Leppard. She’s still a great talent though and it was fun.
@@datacipher exactly Popstars can't match up with Rock stars because the Rockstars voices are better and stronger than the popstars voices
.
I loved her cover of When Love And Hate Collide
Actually, Taylor Swift was completely right, as it turned out. Had this been another era, she'd have fronted a rock band. But like many, the likes of Mick Jagger and even Robert Plant or Ian Anderson have been led astray by fashion, and the fear of being a voice in the wilderness. To be clear though, she never sounded like anything but a cheap celebrity to me until I saw her with DL. I'd come out to see shows like that, for sure. Rock goddess with a great rock band. Every moment seems to sizzle.
Will this be out on disk or download?
Joe Elliot does not want Taylor Swift’s autograph
The Monkees and Iron Maiden check it out
MY fantasy husband 💖
I second that!!
I didn't think it sounded so great.
I just got over a stomach virus, Ill take a pass, Every band experiences an experimental period that goes horribly wrong and id bet my drum kit that this would be Def Leppards "Hot Space" moment, Honestly I think Taylor Swift would be a WAY better cast member of Saturday Night Live than a Song Writer because I had seen David Lettermans Last week on the Air and she sang that song "Welcome to New York" that trainwreck of a song was the an epic facepalming fail of inspiration and originality gobbly goop, it was so bad that im actually scared to listen to anything else Taylor Swift related, Plus I often see that Leppard and Hicks DVD in the .50 cent bin at my neighborhood goodwill lol
dadadruma Honestly, you should listen to Taylor Swift's other music. Welcome to New York is nowhere near her best song lyrically. She is actually an amazing songwriter. I've followed her career since the beginning, and she is a fantastic lyricist. Even in her recent album reputation, she has managed to write beautiful lines. People just get distracted by the instruments. I love all her albums, but recommend listening to Speak Now or Red. Speak Now she wrote entirely by herself. Every song that's ever gone on an album of hers she has either wrote or cowrote. She's even coproduced many songs. You should start with her song 'All Too Well'. It is one of her most emotional songs with such amazing lyricism. Taylor Swift is ones of those rare singer songwriters who can write music that a lot of people can relate to while also providing specific details that are personal to her. Many songwriters keep things general to be able to relate, but Swift somehow manages to incorporate minutiae which doesn't detract from relatability.
It STUNK! LOL! Make no bones about it...she sucked!
in my young and naive days i would have looked at that pairing and completely dismissed it, i was all its rock or nothing!!, Theres a lot of music snobbery in rock music, i'm not listening to that pop crap etcetera. now my playlist is half full of bands and singers outside rock. even someone like Miley Cyrus is on there, if you haven't seen her youtube video of her singing Jolene you should, Rock is still my favourite and always will be, and there is a lot of crap on the airwaves these days, but sometimes it works.
No it didn't!
I love Def Leppard, but I hate Taylor Swift. Sorry.
Snake Eyes you and I are the same, my friend. Taylor Swift and other artists in her genre are rock's mortal enemies!!!!
Mortal enemies really Go listen to Taylor's songs ''Haunted'' and State Of Grace''. Great Pop Rock songs. The girl writes great songs hard to Hate on her talent.
