Music which lives forever in the hearts and minds of music lovers...Hey that's me!!
Rose Mary and Linda on the venue!!! Man o' man...two of the greats..
ROSEMARY CLOONEY, A PEARL OF PERFECTION! A HAUNTING VOICE THAT LINGERS LONG AFTER SHE STOPS SINGING. YOU NEVER WANT HER TO GO AWAY.
I'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS LOVELY SONGSTRESS!
Nelson Riddle would have been very pleased with the way Rosemary, Linda and the orchestra performed on this special
These songs are in Ms. Rosie's bones. She rarely (if ever) looked at the video monitors for the lyrics 🥰 You can see she soaks up everything involved with making that eye contact w/ her audience 😭 a true musician and interpreter 🥰Her and Linda together have always been one of the most exciting singing pairs and friendships in the music industry.
Do a deep dive into Linda Ronstadt's career and one will be hard pressed to find as versatile a career as hers. Without Ronstadt, I likely wouldn't have an appreciation for a variety of musical genres.
It's adorable how much John Williams is enjoying himself conducting those old jazz numbers.
Fantastic concert!
I did not watch the Grammys. In fact I have not watched that show for several years. Why? Because nothing today can compare with this classic 20th century American repertoire. Linda, Rosemary and John Williams = American treasures. Now the big question: Why isn't this available as a DVD? WNET, wake up!
They became very special friends. Remarkable songbirds, different eras but they sang like they meant it. Linda said they belonged to " Girl Singers Anonymous" - they knew the music, they knew the road and they knew the men.
Ms. Rosemary is s incredible too... she sang so modestly ... bravo... my heart is with you...
Linda played a significant role in getting Rosemary back into singing. She had always been a huge fan of Clooney's singing and kept reaching out to do record the Girl Singer CD, which Ronstadt drew a sketch of Rosemary and also wrote the liner notes. Both adored Nelson Riddle as well.
concert from heaven; John Williams tremendous, Rosemary wonderful & Linda incredible. Such beauty, grace and class by all. Plus Linda has such stunning beauty !
What a concert... Ms. Linda's skill of singing is versatile and unlimited... her eyes kept singing with her soul and songs... GOD loves you ever....
Two of the best of our generation, such a wonderful concert!
I didn't know Ray Bradbury wrote a musical. Wow. With Jim Web no less.
Thank you for sharing this. Wonderful. 🖖🙂💕
Wow! There was something more in Linda Ronstadt's performance of these songs, that make them warmer and richer than those on the Nelson Riddle albums. John Williams and the musicians perhaps helped, but I credit the warmth and richness of Rosemary Clooney and her phrasing that lets that richness linger. While, Linda may have been adapting in ways to aid the collaboration, she defenitely learned to sing those songs better than she had before, which caused me to go "wow". I am so glad she sang my favorite, "Skylark"!
This Skylark is simply incredible!
I am so grateful to find this concert on my phone--it makes up for all the drivel I've had to put up with over the years. Thank you.
That's not surprising. This is ten years after Linda did the first album of standards with Nelson Riddle--so she was much more comfortable with the songs. But I saw Linda and Riddle in 1983 at Radio City Music Hall and she was already more at ease with the songs. She could really swing with the best of them on Keeping Out of Mischief, which never appeared on any of the three albums with Riddle, and her "Ghost of a Chance" was a hauntingly beautiful moment in that concert.
You're most welcome, Michelle. It is a wonderful show.
Perfection...what a concert, a privilege to experience: Rosemary Clooney, Linda Ronstadt, John William's, Boston Pop musicians, our greatest songwriters. Wow! Thank you so much for posting. Gotta save this one.
You're most welcome. :)
Incredible show conducted by the Musical Master of our lifetime and featuring the iconic voices we grew up and we grew older with !
By myself was fantastic, rosie sounded just like when she recorded it in 1960
This would have been a dream concert.
All the musicians, conductor, singers, incomparable! Simply beautiful.
Watched the entire concert and I really want to thank you for taking the time to make this video! I have only seen 2 songs from this concert and the quality of 1 was bad. Love the sound and great video quality! 10 yrs after the Riddle era of Linda Ronstadt's career and she still soars to heights that make the hair stand up on the back of my neck! Thanks a million from a Linda Ronstadt fan!
You're quite welcome, Mr Savant. With covid ongoing, it's given me time to go thru a hoard of saved video. Was surprised to come across this one. Thanks for compliment on sound. Would like to recapture for better video quality however the original VCR tape has it's limitations. Still a great show, great entertainment.
@@gimmeanidicanuse have you thought about posting individual songs from this concert? I'd love if you did Skylark and They Can't Take That Away From Me.
@@musicsavant1079 If/when time permits I can edit. Individual songs are selectable from the drop down "Show more" menu.
i have this on VHS but have been waiting years for it to be re-posted here. Thanks so much for doing this!
Happy to oblige, Rob. Fun to watch the orchestra. Great to see Linda and Rosemary enjoy themselves on stage.
I still have the VHS tape that I taped this concert on. It's as mesmerizing today as it was 28 years ago. Thanks for posting.
Yes, same here Snitty. I captured and transferred show to digital years ago. Found the video on a backup drive recently. Sound is quite good. LMK your honest opinion of video quality. I'm testing various SW and settings to improve quality.
@@gimmeanidicanuse, I agree, better quality needed, but great sound!
@@gimmeanidicanuse: I experimented years ago after reading an article about cleaning records and needle cartridges, so I tested with an old one. Lightly misted distilled water on a test record and played it not expecting much. To my amazement the clarity of the sound was significantly improved and bright! I even downloaded some very old favorites to CDs programming my favorites.
Check the accumulation of debris at the needle. I use an inexpensive mascara brush.
What a treat! I love this concert! The song section...wow! I've been a Ronstadt fan for years and she certainly sounds wonderful here and Rosemary Clooney's song selection is top notch. Both did great!
Fantastic
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this concert and the beautiful voices of Rosemary Clooney and Linda Ronstadt. ❤️👏
It is great. Glad you enjoyed.
i wish i had seen this when it aired i definitely would have taped it
You don't need a recording it's right here at your finger tips!
I have the album "lush Life" it is mesmerizing
Rosie always had great hair, no matter how she had it styled and she was certainly the best lady singer in the business. 💕
I saw this when it first broadcasted in 1993, and was mesmerized. I have been looking here for it and never found it until now. Thanks for posting it! All Linda Ronstadt fans should see this.
You're quite welcome. It is a great show.
I love Rosemary Clooney.! I would love to see the rest of this concert from Jacksonville Jazz Festival.! Thanks for posting this song.!!
You're welcome Jimmie. The entire performance is a wonderful display of talent.
What a joy, I've been waiting for this for 27 years. Thank you very much for uploading. Does anyone has the Clooney/Ronstadt Carnegie concert?
I don't have the Carnegie show; glad to hear you enjoyed this show. Should I find time time to improve the video quality I'll LYK.
From Evening at Pops Season 23 (1993).🙂
What professionals! Linda and Rosemary sing so effortlessly and the Pops didn't miss a beat. I agree with a previous comment that Linda hit these songs out of the ballpark. Much closer to the way this music should be sung although I enjoyed her recordings with Mr Riddle. Rosie is a singers singer and no doubt rubbed off on everyone "This Evening At The Pops"
I was not aware of this program ever being broadcast and viewed it for the first time today. Could it have been better? Yes, ideally Linda would not have to share the stage with anyone. I would have preferred that the entire performance was Linda, solo. Quite gracious of her to share the stage with her friend.
I captured this on VHS back in '93. I was impressed with both performances and the meld of the two. Not sure how producers arranged for the two to perform together. My understanding Rosemary and Linda had been good friends. Ed Z.
Anyone else here from JEROME? Wonderful performance :-)
❤❤❤
41:38 😂 Linda.....Great concert!
Anymore please of the evening at pops
Orchestra's performance of "Frenesi" can't compete with the orchestral arrangement accompanying Linda Ronstadt's vocal of this song. It is even lacking when compared to the recording by Chet Baker and Gerry Mulligan. But that's symphony guys for you.
Dommage qu'il y ai autant de coupure Publicitaire venant détruire la qualité et l'excellence de cette vidéo...
Lush Life sounds exactly like it does on the album
I feel cheated! I wanted a couple of more songs from the ladies. Linda could have sung “frenesi “.
Linda was the better singer but Rosie sure had better stage presence and charisma. Not even close.
Oh, no…. Two totally different spheres of music. I’ve been a Rondstat since the Stone Poneys. Beautiful voice, adaptable to any genre.
Been a Rosemary Clooney fan longer than that. Her singing always appeared to be effortless. Great range, and soooo smooth.
Both women had beautiful voices and both were great singers. You can’t say one is better, because they’re so different.
Peter Farrar:- John Williams Boston Pop orchestra featuring Rosemary Clooney & Linda Ronstadt 1993 orchestra concert. Now its 2024, & the simple arthmetic, & the result , 31 years ago, & the significance of that, Rosemary Clooney & Linda Ronstadt are grossly overweight(specially Rosie) & beyound their peak of at least two decades ago at that date, & age progression are the dominant factor. This is embrassing viewing on CZcams today. Please retire gracefully. Words of justified criticism by Peter E. Farrar.
“Justified criticism”?? In your mind maybe.
It’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it. However wrong you may be.
