One of the funniest jokes I heard was Joann Rivers about her husband who committed suicide. It was a real life situation with her daughter at a restaurant.
Her daughter had basically withdrawn and wouldn’t speak to anybody including her mum. They were out at a restaurant and they were looking at the menu, and nobody was saying anything, then Joann said’ it’s good job daddy ain’t here, otherwise with these prices he’d kill himself all over again. And they both hysterically laughed. She then started telling that joke on stage. Brilliant.

Chuck Palahniuk's nightmares must be interesting, a buddy of mine works as a mortician and he tells me his nightmares are super bizarre, like he once told me he dreamt himself walking a path where he knew he would be killed at the end destination but he couldn't stop himself from getting there because there was nowhere else to go, but he wasn't even scared, in the dream he was all meh about it, it's not until he woke up that he got scared, like, he has seen so many dead bodies and so much fucked up shit his subconscious doesn't even bother with being symbolic anymore.

When I was in college,pre-med,UofA (Bear Down Cats) we went to go watch a autopsy. The corpse was laying on the stainless steel table and suddenly it raised its body up from his waist about 25-30 degrees and let out a huge burp. Man people flipped the fuck out. 2 chicks fainted,I mean turned white after screaming and were out. Dudes next to them caught them and they came to pretty quickly but wanted out of there. The corpse also farted and that was the worst thing I have ever smelled in my life. They later told us that this happens more than you think. Gases built up and they get released. I will never forget that for as long as I live.

People who write for shows like CSI, Law & Order, X-Files etc. write scripts like this with the same type of content and people eat it like candy. What’s the difference? Also in regard to him describing the boy as “perfect,” I didn’t interpret it as perverted. By “perfect” I thought he meant undamaged because he had only hit his head and their was no visible wounds which makes it surreal. Funny how other people read into things so differently. Just my thoughts. He’s a great author and keeps it real. Loved that he referenced Tropic Of Cancer- same wavelength.

Pretty sure he means perfect as in wasnt damaged by the accident. Also you can tell hes told this story before, when hes responding to Joe after he asks a question, hes slightly less composed in the way he speaks. His use of the word perfect is probably to illustrate the idea of a wholesome and pure child, which makes the listener feel even worse when he describes the act of peeling the face off of the child in the autopsy.
