      Probably best to work on setting the levels as that's analogue clipping which can ruin a recording

    Hey there! Every time I try adding a compressor (even with your settings) it gets really distorted afterwards. So I have to put the db's down, do I make something wrong?

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  Před 3 měsíci

      The distortion you're experiencing could be due to the settings you're using. Try adjusting the threshold, attack, and release settings to find the optimal balance for your audio.

    I purchased your RE20 dynamic preset for Audacity but in using it it puts me tracks in the red and just a bit too sharp with the treble. I like a bit deeper richer sound. Where can I fix that?

  • @kwk111
    @kwk111 Před rokem

    How do you speak so far away from your mic and still achieve a decent level? I had a Shure beta 57a, and ended up selling it, because the music store guy recommended Audio Technica AT2020 compressor mic with a Focusrite Scarlett usb, but the input level still sucks. If I turn up the gain to any decent level, the audio just starts peaking. What could I be doing wrong?

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  Před rokem

      I would suggest you need to add a processor into your chain like the dbx286s and use the compressor to stop the peaks from happening

    Mike, It looks like you have been doing this a while, but I would like to know if like high End DAW's if compression/noise gate etc can be applied while recording, not during post production.

    • @MikeRussell

      You would be better using a hardware solution like the dbx286s for real time processing

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  Před 9 měsíci +1

      No problem! If you're experiencing a low voice during the intro with the Audacity Compressor settings it could be that the attack and release times are set too high.

    Hello, Mike. Thank you for your great tutorials and sorry for touching a subject that has little to do with the video. I’m having problems working with the plugin “Waves Vocal Bender” on Audition. When I try to bend the pitch, I keep hearing two voices, the original and the one I want to change. The idea, of course, is only to hear the one I want to modify. I have followed all the instructions by the book (turned the mix wheel to 100 and all) but for naught. I’ve asked the guys who use the plugin without problem but not on Audition and they don’t know the solution, which lends me to think that the problem is in the software. And since you know ALL about Audition here is my question: what the hell am I doing wrong? Thank you very much in advance for your answer and keep up the good work.
