I'm in my 40's and this is like Sublime resurrection. Wild. Crazy how genetics work. He's living, breathing and serving his dad's legacy in the most amazing way.
Indeed! I am so grateful to still be alive, myself, to witness this revival. To see that guitar being played by his son... 🙏 I'm looking forward to seeing another set tomorrow night. Considering the proximity, I'm hoping that Gwen gets on the stage with them to perform "Saw Red".
Saying he’s not a guitar player? He absolutely killed it, what a humble guy. I’m so happy to see him making him father proud😢
He’s garbage at guitar
Probably not to the level guitar "purists" expect. I think he did a good job too considering he usually just plays barre chords before he joined Sublime.
Because he can't play leads
Did you listen to his guitar when they played Greatest Hits? He killed it but not in the good way.
I love what they are doing and he will get better and it'll be amazing when he does. But honestly.... It was a hard listen as a guitarist messing up Baare chords is something that you don't need to be a purist or even a guitar player to notice.
Brad would be a proud 🥲
Soooo proud. Good kid!
He literally made a more clear headed version of himself and Brad would be so proud for sure. Hes got a great future ahead of him with sublime and his own career.
If Brad was alive today, I'm sure he would be running around showing videos of Jakob doing music and being so excited about it.
That thought makes me sad, but in a happy way.
@@Blackey989 if u believe in alternate universes maybe he is alive and doing this in one! But in all seriousness I can't wait to see how Jacob's career goes he's got alot of talent
@@bluntmanj1441 if there's an alternate universe where Brad is still alive and making music, thats the one I want to be in! Also, I bet Jakob and Brad would be making some mad tunes together.
You can tell Stryker is a huge sublime fan. Great job asking him about his personal life before jumping into sublime questions
Like that he's continuing play with sublime even if it's just for a little bit still a gift to all of us
Listening to him talk, and sing, and just watching the mannerisms he probably doesn't even notice... it's like my long-dead dream of hearing Sublime live is actually a possibility. It seems like he's the only person on this Earth who could appropriately front this band. I'm a little scared to hope, but I'm gonna try to do it anyway
His performance at Coachella was FUCKIN RAD 🔥🔥
What a rad interview. Jakob seems so humble and laid back while maintaining a passion for art and storytelling. Man he would be an amazing English professor if the rock star thing gets old lol
I'm 43.grew up in socal. Sublime was the soundtrack to the best days of my life.
Same
Same
Same here man
This is blowing my mind
God Bess you Jakob. Watched you play with Sublime at Coachella on youtube .Super impressive ! Not only as your Fathers Son.You hold your own. LBC ❤'s you.
Dude. I have loved Sublime since I got the self titled album in the 90s. I've worn 40 oz to Freedom thin since then. It's hard to even pick a favorite song. And now I happened across Jakob playing at Coachella and my mind was blown. Then I read the article about why he's joined the band now and it was so moving (I've lost friends to addiction, in music and outside). Then I found Jakob's Castle and really dig his music. And then I had the Nowell Family Foundation suggested on Facebook and it is so damn cool. Basically every new thing I discover from this family- the love and art and community just shines and I feel like my 13 year old self that first fell in love with Santeria was so damn aligned with the 39 year old woman I am now, it's crazy.
He’s the age his Dad was when he died.
This is the sweetest thing I've seen in a while. Dadbrad would be so amazingly proud. Honoring his legacy and talent while exploring your own music interests. I love that you don't mimic him but still sound so similar.
My dad was a musician who died when I was young....I'm about your age and you inspired me to pick up my instrument today.
Let the lovin come back to me
Great interview. He’s really killing it this year. Excited to see the new Sublime in Denver.
Jakob brings so much energy on stage! It has this raw 90s power to it. Wish Jakob could see himself through the eyes of his fans. We aren't listening for mistakes. The singing sounds so authentic, passionate, and real. Any comparison to your Father is well. There is a light in your smile and singing that matches his!!
"My friend Tim Armstrong" he says casually
Right, I floored when I just learned he worked with Tim from Op Ivy and Rancid!
Dude is a queens of the stone age fan
That makes my heart happy
Everybody has their faults.....
He does desert sessions which definitely inspired the compilations kinda thing. Zdiddy diddles dudes.
@@ZDiddy7777 wha?
Dude sounds so much like his dad, with the vocal range and passion. I love hearing them both. I love Jakobs Castle and Sublime.
I understand Jakob wants his own place, and he definitely has that, and us Sublime fans love him singing his dads song with his own passion. Jakob is a badass! He's not just following in his awesome dad's footsteps, he's blazing his own trails. Love the voice.
Saw Red remake would be awesome ! Great idea .
THE voice.. stryker thanks for making my childhood more fun!
I can't wait to see the band with Jacob im a huge sublime with Rome fan after og sublime of course but even my kids are loving the new sublime with Jacob singing
T his is really cool! Jakob seems to be such a humble grounded guy, and really has an excellent voice. I'm excited to see what he does with his career, I see great things on the horizon for him! And even if he doesn't sing another show with Sublime, how damn cool was it watching him perform with them at Coachella??!!!
He was amazing! Great arrangement, guitar. Wish I could’ve been there.
He looks so much like Brad😮
Great interview. Really enjoyed it.
Jakob is cool!
Brett Guerwittz produced 4 tracks for my 80s band He was telling us about a label he was starting which became Epitaph Records
He speaks like bradley 😮
Close Enough is a kick @ss song. Love the new album. You did great playing at Coachella too man! Spoiling your fans doing so much music lately.
So cool
Dope! About to watch
Update: awesome interview. Wasn’t up on Jakobs Castle-checked it out and I’m a new fan🔥
Used to get sent home from school for wearing the Sublime shirt with the joint on it back in 1999. Older chicks liked it tho
Wow ! ❤ !
Holy shit he sounds just like Bradley
Yayeeeeeee!
Saw red with Hirie?
That'd be stellar.
Solid interview Stryker
Pops would be proud
This dude should go on Fantano.
Did he say DJ product from Hed pe?
He sure did.
I love Doug E. Fresh
I'm pretty sure i saw an interview of this kid saying he would never play these songs and talking shit when he was like 18.
He's said that in a recent interview with Dopey. I dont understand the animosity towards his father's legacy.. it's nothing but a blessing and he's the only one who can embrace it - to continue holding the torch.
Stryker in burnout?!!??
I’m still so confused, Bradley had 1 child, alittle girl…. When was Jacob born?? Lol
Fake
Brad is buried In Westminster ❤
I thought his ashes were spread at sea? Lou dog too
He looks so much like brad
@@TheQuadFathers215 That's what I heard too
Another Nepo, baby, conveniently picking up where his father failed all this seems planned
Screw you, your horrible
