    After hearing about Malekith’s comic book counterpart, it’s really puzzling how the writers turned him into a walking pill of Ambien. His character lends itself very well to the quippy style of humor that MCU loves to have in their movies. Did they think the audience would confuse him with Loki halfway through if he showed a shred of personality?

    The Convergence isn't happening now by coincidence, it's a direct result of Loki using the Space Stone in New York not long ago. This convergence is a result of Yggdrasil trying returning to normal.
    It bothered me that this 5000 year cycle triggered events 14 billion (?) Years in the making... Coincidentally soon after an unnatural wormhole was opened above earth to the other end if the universe.

    Malekith was a 3 dimensional villain in Alan Taylor's director's cut of Thor: The Dark World. He's already shown dismay at the way Disney cut his original version of the movie.

    • @stevenfraser81
      @stevenfraser81 Před 4 lety +9

      Well, Malekith was a casualty of last minute rewrites. The entire midsection, with Loki and Thor escaping Asgard and confronting Malekith, was written by an uncredited Joss Whedon, and as Loki got added, Malekith was slowly pared down to almost nothing. You can't blame them, this was just after Avengers made $1.5 billion and everyone was sure talking about that Loki after that film hit big!
      Personally, all the added Loki stuff is the highlight of this movie, for me so I couldn't care less that it was to the detriment of Malekith. I'd rather have more Loki than a fleshed out version of Eccleston's Malekith. For the record, I think Chris Eccleston is a terrific actor but he's pretty bad in this, something that he himself acknowledged in interviews fairly recently.
      As to Alan Taylor, well what's his excuse with Terminator Genisys, which he also directed? Because if that's what happens when he gets final cut, then I am glad Disney/Marvel interfered and wrestled Dark World away from him! I know it's not the best film, but it's not even close to being as awful as Genisys!
      Sorry, I didn't mean to type this much. Hoipe someone enjoys reading this, anyway!

    I would have used Loki’s secret “hide from Heimdell” smuggling route to introduce the mirror dimension. The final battle should have been a 2v2 of Loki & Thor vs Kurse and Malekith. Loki fights Malekith, but can’t handle his raw mystical power. Thor fights Kurse, but his overpowered in raw strength. Then they swap opponents, Thor is able to power through Malekith’s magic, while Loki is able to take down Kurse through trickery.

I know you say you're using super hindsight here, but it isn't hard to imagine that a great filmmaker could have come up with something similar if they had taken that approach - and it's not a stretch to think they could have taken that approach at the time. There’s one major problem with this new version: Thor doesn’t get anything cool to do in the finale. If Odin gets the kill, and Loki gets the sacrifice, then Thor is pretty much a passenger in his own film, or just as important as someone like Fandral.
    Thor’s finale can’t be “tries to contain the aether” - that sounds like an unsatisfying CGI mess, unfortunately. He’s got to get his somehow.

    What I want to see one day (maybe in Secret Wars, maybe in a spin-off of some sort), is all the forgettable or underused villains get a chance to be more interesting. Malekith, Ronan, Yellowjacket, Iron Monger, Justin Hammer, Abomination, etc. Not necessarily all of them, but I think the idea could work for a villain team in a timeline-bending story. Bouncing off each other would give them a chance for more characterization.

    This really make the movie better, way better. But at same time, feels like a Loki movie, more than the original. And like Taika says in Ragnarok press, Thor has to be the most awesome part about he’s movie.

      I thought the same thing, how about Thor (and maybe Loki) backs up Odin and team up against Malekith's reality bending powers, the All Father creates an opportunity for Thor to finish him off in a super dramatic finisher maybe by using Malekith's portals against him as Odin is very distracting and being taken out by theatrics rather than brute force would be appropriate, plus it shows that Thor has become more clever like Loki. (I don't know Odin's abilities too well, but I would really like it if they can make Thor shine more somehow)

    • @leodetona99
      @leodetona99 Před 4 lety

      Jake Smith This make sense. Because the way how the video put, basically make the 3 acts being solved by Loki. What make Thor itslef really useless.
      We could exchange the roles, Loki and Thor killing Malekith, with Loki using magic to trick the portals while Thor use his brute power to strike him. And Loki “fake death” comes as a chance to Thor finish him. And the thing about hold the Aether goes with Odin, because he is a freaking All Father.

    Wow this is something I've been struggling with, I also like to see if I can tweak some movies to make them better but when I hit the Dark World, Malekith was kind of hard, so I focused more plot-wise and the idea was that the whole film would be a true Norse adventure through the Nine Realms, The warriors 3 and Sif would have more character development so that they aren't just fodder for Hela later and Jane would be there too and yes Loki comes with. Cause that's what I always enjoyed about Thor and when the movie took place in London a lot I was kind of bummed out.

I would have had this movie take place crossing over the 9 Realms and dealing with the most formidable characters and creatures in those realms. It would have been an epic movie like Lord of the Rings.

That's just so cool and interesting, how you can have confusion but with a few small changes in delivery and arc and it becomes a narrative foil. I just-yes. You did foils well in this vidio, yay!

    Late to the party, but I would've love adding Hawkeye to the movie. Winter Soldier was the only Solo OG Avenger film that featured another OG Avenger and I'm surprised IM3 And Thor 2 didn't do the same thing, like pair up Tony and Bruce(short cameo) and Thor and Clint. It would explain why Shield or the Avengers didn't come to help because Clint was experiencing the same symptoms Selving had post-mind control. Clint and Jane will come to the agreement to not involve Shield, because Jane hates Shield from the last movie and Clint doesn't want them to know that he's not 100% and could put other missions in jeopardy. This would give Clint more time to develop and we can learn that he also has a jerky brother named Barney (amalgamation of Swordsman, OG Trick Shot, and Barney Barton) who can be a part of the Masters of Evil in your version of Avengers 2.

    *Loki materialises*
    later, on Midgard, when Malekith and Loki confront each other, Loki says something along the lines of: "Oh please, you really think that you could trick me?" because Loki is the ultimate trickster and it shows he was always on Thor's side and never fell for the scheme, it was part of the plan all along

    Such proof that Loki is a much more engaging and interesting character than Thor XD Your movie is now a 'loki' movie, with Malekith as Loki's villain, and it totally works
    The connection to ragnarok from this version is iffy, but Ragnarok generally ignores the other movies anyway so it doesn't really matter. What I'd propose next is that Loki 'dies' and ends up in Hel, with Hela or wherever she is in the mcu, and he'd be the impetus of Ragnarok, coming back and warning asgard of Hela's plans etc.

    this might be a stretch, but I think that they should've gone with the comic book design of Malekith and cast David Bowie, (since he didn't die until 2015). he would bring so much charm and charisma to the role and his look in Labyrinth is basically what malekith looks like in the comics
