- February was a productive month and I actually completed the project! I Love it when I can add a quilt to the DONE pile!
We challenge everyone everywhere to pick out 12 projects you want to accomplish in 2024.They can be any type or size of project you want! Quilts, Crafts, Painting, Knitting, Crocheting, Home Dec, Scrapbooking Projects, Clothing, Legos, Art Pieces, - absolutely any category! It's your choice! Write the list down, numbering them one through twelve. Find a way to store them so they are accessible and easy to find. The first week of each month we will present a video where I reveal what I accomplished and to pick the number for the project that month. Then it's time to work on whatever project we pick for that month!! Get It Done!!
This year we encourage you to also pick a bonus project; something BIG! Do a little bit every month and by the end of the year you will be done, or, at least closer to done than you were in January! Some projects need to be spread out over a longer period of time, look for something very special.
We know it is sometimes hard to motivate yourself to finish old projects or start on a project that is intimidating. We want to help you get over the hurdle and help you create and enjoy the satisfaction of a finished project! Let's do this together!!

The Quilted Forest is located at 205 North Clark in Forest City, IA. Our phone number is 641-585-2438. We stock patterns, books, notions, batting, and fabric for sewing and quilting projects. Our shop is filled with finished quilts and smaller projects to provide plenty of inspiration. We are open Monday - Friday, 10am to 5pm, and 10am to 4pm on Saturday. We are in the central time zone.

Thanks for keeping me accountable and inspiring me to get things done! I finished my January project which were x-stitch birth announcement samplers for my grandsons which I presented to their mother on her birthday in February. Since the boys are 8 and 6, it was about time! February's project was a rag quilt for my bedroom using 2 layer cakes of Cottage Linen Closet by Moda. It turned out great and I love it on my bed! It was my 25th rag quilt so will be taking a break from that for awhile. For March, my #2 is QAYG placemats from June Tailor printed on batting. I will use 30's Playtime Chloe's Closet jelly roll strips also by Moda. I am also working on a foundation piecing string quilt using my scraps. I have 8 blue blocks and begin the green blocks this week! This method of choosing a project to get done during the month has really helped me, thanks! It is really fun to see your completed projects and even knowing it's OK if it doesn't get done; at least it's further along than it was!

Great job on your Lori Holt ABC quilt. I am playing along with you. I finished January in February - but Yay me anyway because it had languished for years! 👏🏻 February’s was fun but I am only about half done. Number 2 for March is a project I have considered maybe isn’t worth pursing. I made an error in sewing that might cause me to have insufficient fabric to complete it. Also, it is not fun. Fancy paper pieced pinwheels. Bleh! 😂 This project might morph into a nice little set of log cabin table runners. But - by the end of March I will at least have pulled it from the drawer and made some decisions. If I can’t fix my earlier error, at least I have a plan. See you in April!

Hooray!! I am going to get a top finished this afternoon! Last month I cut out 4 lap size quilts. I typically don't work that way, but I had some time of work for my husband's surgery. When I am not to tired after work, I sew a few blocks. By spring break, I should have my tops all ready for the LAQ. Thank you for the inspiration!

The alphabet quilt is really lovely. I didn't get my Feb project completed but I haven't been well so I won't beat myself up about not finishing it yet. I'm feeling better now so I'll keep going with it this month and fingers crossed Project 2 is a small one for me so that I can complete both. I did manage to get some hexagon hand sewing done. That's a UFO that will take a bit longer so I allocated 3 numbers to it and plan to do a bit each month. So far so good.

Hi Shelly, I'm Shellie. I loved your idea of picking a project a month and decided to do this for 2024. I knew I'd have no problem getting 12 projects organized, boxed up, and labeled. However, to my astonishment I had over 85 projects!! So I put all 85 of the numbers in a bowl and whatever number i pick will be the project I work on. If i only get 1 a month done, I'll be busy for 7 years- and that doesn't count new projects. Anyway, thanks for the idea and the motivation.

Oh thank goodness #2 was drawn. I may have been avoiding this video cause I was scared of what project was going to be picked. I didn't finish my February project (stuck on how to quilt it) so this should help me get into gear. Smaller faster project usually motivates me

You did such a great job on your ABC quilt and those letter blocks are so clever. Due to unforeseen circumstances I have made zero progress on my February # project. :( I might putz on it a bit this weekend before diving into March (another toughie). See if you can pick #3 or #4 next month. ;)
I've got 27 flimsies to quilt up. It will take me 2 years, so working hard to finish more than 1 a month. 😅

Clever idea! I have 13 unfinished quilts, and this would force me to concentrate on one at a time to finish them over the next year. But what's to stop me from starting new ones?! 😂
I love watching your videos and am doing the Project of the Month again. I was TERRIBLE in 2023, but I actually got February's project done in February!!! It does my heart good to see you still haven't finished January's project and you're still working on it. I'm still working on my January block as well. You inspire me!!! Thank you!!!

I love project 2!!! Can't wait to see what you do with it! Years ago, before her death, my mom gave me a stack of double wedding ring blocks and asked if I wanted to finish them. They were all different sizes and clearly couldn't be made into the quilt for which they were intended. I decided to take every block apart, despite my daughter's protestations. I made a fabulous quilt with a white background that all of my daughters and daughter-in-laws want! I also had enough to make another quilt mixed with other fabrics. I mention this because I swear I see some of the fabrics in your project 2. Mine were made of fabrics from the thirties, forties and fifties. Can't wait to see it!!!
Your quilt is gorgeous! I worked hard on my Feb UFO - a twin size - bigger than I usually make. Finally ready to quilt - the ultimate challenge. I did quilt a small scrap quilt for a baby that was not on my list, so feeling pretty good about that. March will be tough - I will be out of state most of the month and #2 would have to be done at home.
I just stumbled across your video but I may have to jump into it late to start finishing some of my UFOs and getting them quilted. I am intrigued by the design of your project #2. I hope your will share information about the pattern. It looks like a great design for scraps.

Is there some way I can get a closer look at that sort of herring bone pattern quilt with the white background on the wall behind you in the thumbnail? A video or a pattern? I've got 3 meters of light yellow fabric I picked up at a sale, and this plus scraps would be perfect for it.
