Six triples - clean program - and look at those low marks! She got hosed by the judges.

Matt G. Where did you expect her to place? She was outstaked by the top 3 easily,

metsdudenj What do the "top 3" have to do with anything?

Matt G. Even with more triples than the top three skaters, her style and technique were so poor that she was a second tier skater compared to the medal winners, she was always a 5th place skater. Only medalled w when there was poor competition or the favorrites totally bombed

@@metsdudenj Claudia said in a book of hers I read that Witt only did better than her since East Germany had more political clout in the sport than West Germany. I am sure they did, but I think Witt was also just a stronger skater and competitor than she was.

@@grantdesjardins764 Claudia was obviously not aware of her own lethargic style, awkward landings on jumps and weak presentation. The only time she was actually a contender was in 1983 and 1989 when the field was so weak she won a silver medal. Plus Claudia bombed from 1984-1986 and managed to fall on a camel spin in the 88 Olympics. I never saw her as podium skater. Her peak was 1982-1983.
