I still havent ironed out my Hotas issues, so I haven't flown much...but I have watched alot of videos and absolutely love what you have done with his game! I have played pc games since early 80s!! I played the original wing commander series, and never thought a sim like this would ever exist! Thank so much and looking forward to more!

    9:55 I always use the Joystick Paddle switch as a modifier key. For example the DMS switches + Paddle act as activators for the NVGs plus Gain up/down. The TMS buttons plus paddle are used for activating and cycling the kneeboard, and paddle switch and NWS switch simultanisously is a substitution for CTR+E. That's actually universal for all of my modules.
    Another pro tip: Remap your keyboard keypad to the UFC (if you're using TrackIR of course), /, *, +, -, ENTER and , can be used to affect various other UFC functions like ENTER, MASTER CAUTION, etc. The INS/DEL, Pos1/END and PAGE UP/DOWN keys as well as arrow keys can be used for various up/down rockers (for example the UFC rockers in the A-10C; in the F-18, INSERT/DEL switches the left UFC radio channel, POS1/END the right, and POS UP/DOWN is the heading (?) select above the middle AMFCD).
    That's basically what you would use a Logitch G13 or Razor Orbweaver for without spending 100+ bucks.
    Remap the UFC bottom row to something like n m , . . - and the right UFC buttons as well, and you won't need to touch the mouse as often as you do now. Plus one of those MFCD Cougar packs for about 100 dollars and you don't touch the mouse at all outside of start-ups, which speeds your handling the plane up like nothing else and enables manouvering with hand on stick and looking outside the cockpit while manipulating your core aircraft functions.

    I'm using TARGET software to translate warthog inputs. Nobody mentioned it yet. There are profiles to load, so you dont have to setup to much. Its still no one-key install. ;) Gives you some advantages I dont wanna miss, like multiple expressions for the same button (ie. short press, long press, modifier + short/long) and a nice Keymap for all binded functions. I use the NOiD 1.8 script found at the official website downloads/user files.

    I suggest DCS should have a FREE FLIGHT mode like in FSX for every aircraft that you select to fly. This will help adjust and optimize your throttle and joystick settings before starting a mission. Else you have to pause the mission and keep adjusting controls. Thanks, vishkar.

I 've tried several times with no success and I don't want to have to spend big bucks for a hotas just to be able to do this. If someone could direct me to a video of the correct procedure of doing so I would greatly appreciate it . I've followed a few videos and upon trying to bind two actions/commands to one button it removes the action and only allows one button to be mapped leaving the other action/command blank.

      Just to be sure (I do this a lot with my friends) you level the aircraft off, hit "BALT" or "RALT" depending on how high/low you are ND if you're using radalt or not, and you're not moving the stick forward or back? Not trying to say you don't understand what you're doing, it's just easier to figure out if it's pilot error or not by walking back through the steps taken.

    • @aslowsin
      @aslowsin Před 5 lety +1

      Canopy yeah I make sure the plane is level before trying to engage the A/P and I am definitely not moving the stick as the hand I use for my stick is on my mouse.

      @canopy9244 Před 5 lety

      @@aslowsin interesting. My last suggestion without looking elsewhere might be to look at your FCS to see what's going on with your trim. From my understanding, nothing should be wrong in this front due to the way the Hornet's flight control systems work. But perhaps something with your trim for pitch is messed up and is keeping it from staying in AP. Other than that, look around for some video tutorials, as they may point out something that you might have missed, or even subconsciously have done. I'm speaking from my own rather idiotic experience here in the A-10. After that, it's like Matt said; there's not much anyone can really do without a video of precisely what's wrong. Hope it's fixed man, as that's gotta be really annoying.

    @ericandi Před 2 lety

    I don’t think it’s good to add an axis curve to a throttle axis. The thing that I finally figured out in regards to adding a curve to your axis, is that for every degree of positive curve that you add to your axis, it flattens out and lessens the control response early in the range of motion of the control, but later in the range motion, the curve gets steeper with provides more drastic control response. You can’t add curve flatting out the axis early in the range of motion of your control and still maintain a 1 to 1 response curve later in the range of motion.
    For example, if I have N axis with a 1 to 1 ratio with no curve added, throughout the entire range of motion of the control, I will get 1 unit of response in the aircraft for a 1 unit of movement of my physical control.
    But if I add a 25% curve to my throttle, in the first part of the range of motion of my throttle, 1 unit of movement of the throttle will give me 0.75 units of response in the aircraft and towards the end of the range of motion of the throttle, 1 unit of movement will give me 1.25 units of response in the aircraft.
    This might be a good thing for your flight stick, so that you can have more precise fine control around the center of the X/Y axis, but that also means that you will less precise, more drastic response later in the range of motion for your flight stick. With a flight stick, this is a good thing because it enables you to make small, precise adjustments for landing and air to air refueling. And when your in a dogfight or evading a SAM, so moving your stick far to the extremes of it’s range of motion, your usually wanting an extreme response from the aircraft, so it’s not a bad thing that your stick has more drastic response the farther out you move it from center.
    However with a throttle, I feel that’s it’s better to have a consistent 1 to 1 axis ratio with no curve, so you get an even and predictable response throughout the entire range of motion of the throttle. If you have a high quality throttle like a Virpil or VPK, even with a straight 1:1 axis with no curve, you can still make little fine adjustments to your throttle. Your throttle is different from your stick, in that you don’t just need fine precise control early in the range of motion of the throttle, like you do with a flight stick.
    With a throttle, you have just as much need for precise fine control in the far end of the range of motion of the throttle near the high end of mil power, as you do when your throttle is near idle. For example, when trying to connect to a tanker for air to air refueling, you aren’t going to have your throttle near idle most of the time. When your trying to maintain a speed around 300 knots., your throttle will be a lot closer to max mil power than idle.
    If you have a curve on your throttle axis, your throttle will have less drastic more precise response with more fine control when it’s near idle, but it will have a steeper curve with more drastic response, when it’s near max mil power. That’s exactly what you don’t want for air to air refueling. I think the best bet is to keep your throttle axis with no curve and just invest in a high quality throttle.
    I just recently switched from the Thrustmaster Warthog throttle & Warthog F-16/A-10 flight stick to the Virpil VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle, the VPC Constellation ALPHA Flight Stick, and the Virpil VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Base. The difference is night and day. When I was flying the F/A-18 in DCS with the Warthog controls, I had an extremely hard time maintaining constant speed level flight and constant decent and climb rates. I tried every suggestion for dead zones and curves, but noting helped.
    I know everyone says the F/A-18C is so easy to fly because it’s fly-by-wire and has the FCS, but for me with the TM Warthog controls, I felt like I was flying a really unstable difficult to fly Warbird like the Spitfire. I thought I was just a crappy pilot, because everyone raves about the TM Warthog stick and throttle. I had previously upgraded from some really cheap

    If i use all high like you here, i get 15 fps in some missions... Especiallyin the AH64D this is unflyable with action happening.
    I have all the other sims and quite a few games that all run fine, when i compare it to our communities systems. Most often especially fine in that regard, as a dev i know how to keep my pc in a clean state.
    So what could be wrong? Did the demands got raised in the last years? I mean, i can get 60 fps here and there but only in some freeflight missions, where nothing is happening. But lets say Syria, in dusk/dawn, with 15 tanks and some infantry etc, and it goes down to stutter amounts like low 20ties of fps.
    What could be the reason? I play in wqhd wit mentioned system

    DCS aviators, I need help with the clickable radio menu. When I look up at the menu (VR) and move my mouse I get a "cross" cursor that won't activate any options. The cockpit and pause menu work fine. What am I missing?

      When you are using the clickable radio, DCS creates a separate curser (small white dot) in the middle of your screen (difficult to see in VR) and it doesnt rely on your crosshair. Hope this helps :)

      Thanks. That seems like high settings for 90fps (especially the visib range). I have 9900k & 1080 ti. Maybe I should just lower my super sampling . I don't know if it's really helping, because it's still pretty difficult to read the DDIs. I'm really considering the Odyssey (normal or Plus) over the Rift.
