I was playing this in Kermit's Bar in Stambaugh, Michigan years ago when an old Scots timber man stood up and sang along with me, with tears running down his face. He said he never thought he'd hear it again and when I began to play he was overwhelmed. Great memory.
I play this tune at my mom's graveside regularly. She always requested it every time I pulled out the pipes.
40 Years after hearing this song for the first time and I have never grown tired of it. Well Done Matt!
My favourite tune to hear played on the pipes. Evokes fond memories of living on the wild, remote and hauntingly beautiful isles of the Outer Hebrides, teetering on the edge of the Atlantic, in the far northwest of Scotland - where I first heard it played on the pipes by the local school kids.
