- This great song from Van McCoy which was released in 1975 made it to number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, plus number 1 on the Hot Souls Singles Charts, and number 1 in quite a few other countries too, and it also made it to number 3 in the UK charts.. The footage here i filmed outside the Immigration Office in Iligan City Philippines.. During the festivals we have here in the Philippines these dancing traffic controllers can quite often be seen on the streets here, and they certainly bring a bit of fun to the streets of Iligan City.. This song was everywhere when I was a kid. One of my classmates had a long-sleeved tee shirt that had a print of people dancing and high kicking and "Do The Hustle!" printed on it. He would wear it now and then and I always remembered that shirt because it was so funny to me.
It's funny Ray how some songs can leave everlasting memories in ones head for many different reasons, and hearing the one of your friends t shirt proves the point.. Great comment my friend...

That cop will get a trophy for dancing Carl. I remember that track as if it were yesterday. I was in a dance hall and this young woman came spinning across the dance hall right into my arms and almost collapsed. Her eyes were rolling in her head, she had made herself dizzy. Yeah, that turned out to be a night to remember! I was down in Englandshire at the time.lol
I think they are awesome Bob and they should be on double pay for entertaining everyone i think.. Sometimes the traffic can get so bad around Iligan City and so stressful too, but when you see these dancing traffic enforcers they just melt all the stress out of your body right away.. Glad this one brought back some nice memories for you my friend, enjoy the coming weekend...

You know, over here many years ago, in Pittsburgh PA., was a Traffic Officer that danced as well, while directing traffic..He was very famous, and well known, used to be on TV all the time.. Even made that famous show, Candid Camera once! I think are some videos out, of him..The "Dancing Cop" he was called.. We had a friend that always requested this song at
