- Our family visited Washington DC during spring break. In this video we are going to share our do's and don'ts of Washington DC. My 2 girls were excited to see the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial and White House. We were lucky that our trip also conincided with the Cherry Blossom Festival. Hopefully our tips will help you plan your family's next trip to DC.

It's so fun and best part almost everything was free - except the ice cream. We lucked out that we timed it to the Cherry blossoms. You guys would do well walking around since you guys are conditioned.

I've see some pretty incredible photos of the trees around that area. DC I so cool with all those monuments. That's some EXPENSIVE ice cream but you know what, sometime you got to do it to live a little🍦 That was fun! Thank you, sir!
I thought about making a scene but Rosalie was having a good time eating her ice cream - so I decided to take the high road. Glad I did because it made the rest of the trip fun and a very memorable incident for sure.
The Cherry Blossoms are beautiful and reminds me of The Last Samurai. Really nice tour my friend. Hopefully, my wife & I will be heading out that way in a couple of years for a vacation. Thanks for sharing. This is helpful.

Luckily everything else was free! But that was easily the most I spent on ice cream.

It was nice to get away for Spring Break. Too bad my sister's spring break didn't line up. She is a teacher.
You guys went the perfect time with the Cherry blossoms in full view! Glad you got to take the girls this time, always good to let them experience it! Yeah, I remember the traffic and parking woes when we visited lol.. but dang, that's the most expensive ice cream in the world lol.. we had shaved ice a little further from the monument and that was about $8 I think. The girls will definitely cherish these memories.
I was surprised that it wasn't so busy. We did most of our sight seeing during the week so it helped. That traffic was so bad. I thought it was rush hour but ended up any time we left. The girls had a great time and still talk about the trip!
Man, you guys are every where! LOL. You are just bouncing around. That is a blessing though. LIKE 25. 👍👍👍
We go ta new SUV so there will be a lot more road trips. The first 2 weeks we put 5,400 miles on the car. We use to have a Sedan while driving around. So much easier with an SUV.
What a gorgeous time to go with all the cherry blossoms. Oh my gosh that ice cream price is ridiculous😳Lesson learned!
We had no idea it was Cherry Blossoms till we were driving there! Easily the most expensive ice cream we have ever had. Most of DC is free - just not its ice cream.

We are huge fans of park-and-rides and taking the DC Metro. It is CHEAP, particularly on weekends.
Did you see any Honor Flights while you were in DC?
My mom climbed the Washington Monument as a teenager. Unlike Spiderman, she took the stairs.
Last time in DC, we did Chinatown. Cheaper to take a Metro from the Mall to Chinatown and get a meal than that ice cream.
That view…so freaking majestic. YOU NAIL IT!
DC was great and loved how almost everything was free - except for the $49.50 ice cream. Your mom is my hero, I can barely do stairs at State Parks. We still have a lot do and see like Honor flights. We saw most of the main attractions. But that Spy Museum is still calling my name.

The weather was great and it wasn't too busy since we went during the week.
Thanks for sharing your DC tips with us. We gave up on driving and parking in the city. Metro trains and buses everywhere for us. Looks like yall covered a lot of ground though. That must have been exhausted. But it is good that you got to hit many of the highlights. And you were there when the cherry trees were in bloom! We were therejust shortly before yall when the trees were only starting to bloom. It was much less impressive. Thanks for sharing this with us!
Metro trains and busses seems like a much better strategy. I wish I filmed where I plugged a parking garage and it took me to a private one and had to back up out of it. Pretty stressful. Since it was the kids first time we made sure we hit the classics! How funny if we were there at the same time, but I would have no idea what you guys looked like 😂
Rosalie got so used to traveling that she can't not stay home anymore! Good job daddy! Travel is life gotta take advantage of that whenever you can! You beat us to DC! I planning to see the capital one day!

This was my favorite one yet! I love that you put old clips from when you and Melissa were dating. I love that you’re laughing about the ice cream but we can tell you’re raging ion the inside😂. And whenever your girls are featured a lot, it’s a good video!
Thank you so much. I have been trying to experiment with different formats to see which one I like best and which others like the best also. Can't believe it was almost 10 years ago when Melissa and I went. I thought about making a scene but Rosalie was so happy to have ice cream (while licking it) that I didn't want to ruin the moment. I just need to figure out how to get the girls to be in the mood all the time.
I’m glad I parked and walked everywhere when I was there. Looking forward to tshirt season! $49 for ice cream! Yikes! I don’t know why, but food and parking prices always irk me the wrong way, lol.
That was a better approach. Little Rosalie's legs were limited on how much she can walk but she did way better than I expected. That is why she got the ice cream 😂. In Chicago, it was $69 for parking to see Joe Rogan.

One of my favorite part of editing is taking inspiration from my favorite creators. I’m a sucker for Rosalie’s Puss and Boot eyes. DC is great and best part almost everything is free - except ice cream 😭

The White House is a beautiful piece of architecture and is Capital Hill. The blossom is gorgeous ❤ love the Washington Monument which offers great views from the top. Love Lincoln’s memorial, reminds me of the many temples I have seen in Europe.
Yes l agree the Washington DC is easy to get around. We missed Roosevelt’s Memorial. Great job Carl, thank you for the tour ❤🙏🏽
DC is one of my favorite and glad my 2 daughters were finally able to make it there. Glad they both had the appreciation of being there even though it was mostly buildings and structures. The architecture is so good.

How did Rosalie do on the "Not complaining about walking" thing? The scale of all those monuments is impressive and don't come through in pictures! I have never been there either! Is Rosalie going to be a politician!? Great tips! Parking in cities gives me too much anxiety! Hahaha 0.3 miles = 1 mile. I tell you what though, at the end of Me and Mister's last backpacking trip we had only 0.2 miles from he end of the trailhead to a diner... and it felt like an eternity!!
Rosalie did so well keeping up her end of the bargain and didn’t complain once. That’s the reason I wanted to reward her with ice cream - just didn’t know it would be a $50 ice cream. We saw all the famous ones but there was so many smaller monuments next to it but I didn’t want to push it with Rosalie with us. She is not conditioned with long hikes as your kids.

Hmmm - I say that $15 for ice cream could be a reasonable price! Depends on how badly you need it… 🍦😋
Rosalie thought it was the best ice cream she has ever had! But that's the last $15 ice cream we'll be getting. We'll drive to Dairy Queen next time.
I’m curious how long it took you to see those four things.
We spent a day walking around to see the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument. Which I would say was about 4 hours. It was great that it was the Cherry Festival Also. With having the little one, I tried to limit the days to 4-5 hours. It is a lot of walking. Parking is limited but we parked at a hotel by the White house and then just walked around. The Jefferson memorial was something we did another day because we had to drive there and find parking.
$49 Ice Cream ?!?!!?
I couldn’t believe either. But too late to say we don’t want it as the kids were already licking the ice cream. Lesson learned.
