From the desert of Algeria, I tell you, you brought me back 25 years. My father had the same beautiful watch. Thank you with all my heart for this wonderful feeling. I hope that I will be lucky enough to find such a watch.
Thank you 🙏
Now I remember my father had a great mechanical watch too and it got so old andi never thought of restoring it through professional and ending up throwing it away. Feeling sad now as my dad passed away and could have been a great memory piece
This watch puts modern watches to shame
cant you sell it to him?@@NekkidWatchmaker
@@physics77guy ultimately those Memories that You can't Help but post a Huge smile on Your Face every time You think of them are the best "Gifts" for Me, I keep some trinkets For that exact reason, sorry to hear about the watch though, it would have been cool to have had restored, but such is life, at least You have Your Memories, everything else can be taken, and by the time Memory starts to Fail us?... Well ... Other things will fill our minds... 😂
How about trying to find one the same... Or similar, and try to keep it as long as possible, build up the same "love" He had for it.. may not be the SAME watch but You can still build a good relationship with it.
This channel used to be nothing more to me than a nightcap before heading to bed, now I’m on multiple horological forums and receiving packages from eBay every other month. Curse you nekkid watchmaker! All jokes, really appreciate each video that gets shared and thanks for introducing me and others to such a great hobby. Cheers.
Same... it is addictive.
Same here! Watch collection just keeps growing...😅
The great thing about more people getting turned on to watchmaking is that many more of these wonderful watches will be saved. Especially less expensive, vintage watches that aren’t worth the cost of a professional restoration. Thanks again Mr. Nekkid Watchmaker
Beautiful movement, exquisite restoration, missed you Joe
Thank you 🙏
So happy to see you back and with a really smashing restoration. I love the macro shots you are getting, I’m no camera expert but I think you should stick with the camera you have and just ‘fiddle about a bit’ till you get it just right as we all know you can, and do 😊
Nice work on the case back and the watch rescue. Looks like it can run for decades now.
Dear Nekkid, please allow me and my wife to make a generic comment, thus not specific to this particular video, but related to all your contents: we love your style, your personality, your empathy, your sense of humor and we adore your capacity as watchmaker in all its aspects. Greetings and a warm, friendly hug from Bonn, Germany‘s former capital. Please continue posting new footage. We love it! T & A
Thank you both and hugs bag at you
I hope everyone else appreciates Joes humor as much as I do. I’m a barber but I subscribe bc he’s easy to understand and he makes it fun. 🇺🇸
I’m always amazed by how bad the exterior can look yet the movement looks close to pristine. Just shows how well the case protects it.
just a scam you dont have the timegraft numers, this is not a repair or resyauration is jut a clean. - a scam-- dont buy too clean watches its a scam
please ignore this troll. Timegrapher at 36:36, and this is a restoration.
@@parkpy Never take a 3 month old troll seriously.. or 3 years, or troll at all..
Not really strange. Just like any other closed mechanizm.
Have you seen the 100 yr old Omega full of WD-40, that he restored a long while back. If I remember, even that one came out pristine, even before any cleaning. Blows my mind every time.
Can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday evening, than sitting down and listening to your relaxing voice and amazing restorations. I promise not to wander off and get distracted by carpet cleaning and narrow boat videos again!!!!!
Lol thanks mate but I love those carpet cleaning videos myself
That is a work of art and you are the artist. I have no doubt I could disassemble it and do the cleaning, but don't think that I could ever get it back together and functioning. Thanks for posting this
Exactly!! I too could probably disassemble..But put it backtogether?? No way.
I'm still amazed at how you can remember where every little piece goes unlike myself when I take something apart that small it's destroyed lol
Gooood afternoon from central Florida! Hope everyone has a great afternoon!
Re: Camera recommendations... You might want to talk with Marshall over at "Wristwatch Revival!" He not only understands the specific needs of videoing watch repairs, I believe his actual profession is video production (or something like that). Seems like a real nice guy, and he makes great videos as a watch repair enthusiast/hobbyist. I bet he could help you out!
I love both of these gentlemen repair watches! And yes, it's their fault, I can't leave home without a watch on my wrist!!!
I watch both of these fine gentleman !
Love your videos, and of all the restorations I watch on CZcams, yours are the most enjoyable by far, not only for the level of expertise you demonstrate, but also for the human and fun side, for the fact that you manage to create the impression that we are right there, by your side, watching every step. I also admire is that you can leave a watch looking like new without it losing its character. Blessings to you and your family. Keep up the good work!
Buy for £20 and sell for only €100 after all that beautiful work on it? Definitely worth a bit more than that after all that love that was put into reviving this little beauty. Thanks for another lovely one Joe
Love the process you have of not over restoring. Looks as wonderful as it works. Great to see you back.
As always great work and welcome back. Cool rotary. Thanks for always entertaining us!
I enjoy the history lessons you give. It adds a lot to the restorations you do so we’ll.
Thank you 🙏
A labour of love and laughs as always, Joe. Peace and joy to you and yours. ❤
Love you, man! You're the most down to earth, fun to watch, and practical watchmaker on youtube. I adore your videos.
Thank you 🙏
It never gets old… seeing you bring a piece back to life. The end reveal gives me so much pleasure, I can't find the appropriate words to describe it. Thank You.
I’m with you and glad you left some battle scars, we all have those that’s what makes us interesting
Your strap choice hand signal game was strong 💪🏼😂 Great video Joe 👍🏼
Lol thanks bro.
I am not a watchmaker, but I love watches. And this type of restoration is for me the best. Where the watch looks beautiful, keeping its history. Your channel is fascinating.
I can watch these uploads all the time, makes me feel calm and relaxed when in bed. Getting a broken watch up and running again. But what blows my mind is the complexity of the inners and how they designed and built them
Your videos are excellent, I really enjoy the tech and technique, and humor. But you really have stepped up with the case trying to get polished. Very enjoyable. Thanks
Nice to see you , I have a rotary bought for me in 1984 by my dear wife . It doesn’t have a day or date on it , so the battery’s usually last for about five years . But when I do take it in I usually get a comment like , it’s nice to see a decent movement or words to that effect . An I have to say it’s never had a service in its life , so that must say something for the quality . Love your channel and am totally fascinated by your work , Best wishes as always
I have an almost identical gold case on a "Seiko 5" automatic that is almost 55 years old. The only difference is that the stem is at the 4 o'clock position. The watch works perfectly but could do with a complete service. It keeps perfect time and has never been serviced. Always enjoy your videos and love the commentary!!
If it keeps perfect time it doesn't require a service.
Beautiful to see the amazing movement in the humble Rotary and giving a new lease of life ! Great to hear those soft voices I'm my head again....just buy it just buy it ! No it wasn't me ! It was him !
You are the voices in my head!😀 Your watch restorations started me on my small watch collection but constant watch hunting.
Thank you for being the good side of my conscience 👍🏼💪
Ich bin immer wieder hingerissen von der Präsentation Deiner Arbeiten. Selbst die Teilrestauration einer Vintage ist bei Dir wie ein Krimi anzusehen. Viele Grüße aus dem Norden von Deutschland. Weiter so.
I am not a watch hobbyist. In fact I can't wear a watch because I have eczema on my wrists. I love watching what you do and especially listening to the stories you tell explaining about the watch history, and the history of the brand and the movements. I guess I just love someone doing expertly a thing I can't do. Thank you for your videos.

I might be wrong, but how about getting some jeweller to gold plate one - IF you are hooked on owning a "man jewell"?
@@CONEHEADDK Thankyou for your suggestion, but its not that I am allergic. The presence of metal against my skin causes perspiration which contributes to eczema. Even gold I am afraid. Nice of you to try and help though :)
@@robertjakubczak9437 I have a watch that pins to my blouse, and that is the only way. I think this is what you meant. Sorry I cant translate.
@@Warriorbox As an inventor I can't not look for solutions. How about creating some backing/band of whatever you can have against your skin? Sounds pretty basic actually. As we say "If you can pay, we can solve your problem." You're welcome - I'm softy.. :)
About 18 month ago I found your videos on CZcams while my wife had a covid-19-Infection. When she woke up, she found me infected with the horological virus... Now, 18 months later I have about 70 mechanical watches from the 1930s to the 1970s, was able to repair many of them and enjoy it very much!! Thank you Joe for your great videos, your explanation, your love for old watches and the kind way, you explain everything!
As beeing a German and living in Germany I collect now watches from the Junghans-company. Great watches and very affordable. Would love to see you having a nice Junghans on your table!!
Thank you 🙏 will try and feature a junghans in the future
Thank you for your hard work. We all enjoy your videos!!!
Thanks mate
My day just got better. Thanks, my friend, for sharing this.
Thank you 🙏
I’m watching you from Georgia, USA. I absolutely love watching your videos, and appreciate your history lesson on the brand. Your knowledge is admirable!
With a video like this, I really appreciate the watchmaking skill you’ve got, this is how to get a second life to your old watch !
Absolutely gorgeous final results !!
Best Regard Mr. Joe ! ✨👌
Thank you 🙏
I can only imagine being able to work on a watch like in the video. But it's fun to daydream. Even if I can't apply the knowledge, it's still valuable to have. Thanks so much for the entertainment, your sense of humor is a great touch.
Beautiful finished case, not over overpolished!
What is the name of the yellow cloth you use to lightly hand polish the case, before machine polishing?
Try sylvet cloth with impregnated rouge
I appreciate the effort you put into producing this content... Putting my feet up and being absorbed into the work is amazing therapy, blessings.
Thank you 😊
Great closeups , new camera working a treat. Thanks for the upload. So calming to watch.
What a lovely watch and a super video to come across by accident on a Saturday night.
It's always great to watch an expert doing something well and just for the love of it.
Thank you 🙏
I watch your videos not for the restoration work, but the quirky commentaries. It really cracks me up and makes my day.. thank you!
I'm still amazed at how you can remember where every little piece goes unlike myself when I take something apart that small it's destroyed
Для того, чтобы вспомнить где стоит и какая деталь, он снимает это видео. А ютуб это побочный проект
He records it and does it backwards.
Long time no see, great video as always, it turned out very nice indeed.
Sorry mate. Been really busy with the kids

@@NekkidWatchmakerfamily always come first.
@@the-quintessenz lol yes you are
I am so impressed by the thoughtful, keen observations and stories comments, what to speak of the fine work rendered by the Nekkid watchmaker so respectful of the piece he is working on.
Such a beautiful bit of craftsmanship! Now, I would only buy a vintage watch from this man!
I haven't worn a watch for 25 years and have no interest in doing so. Notwithstanding, I am astounded by the quality of engineering to produce such tiny timepieces which date back over 400 years. How on earth did they do that back then? Mind boggling stuff. I take my hat off to such skilled watchmakers such as yourself who share the processes to the uninitiated with other skills including first rate photography, editing, narration and humour. Amazing work! Thank you.
You might be drifting back to watch wearing?
I’m a die hard Canon man so I say stay with that brand (although I must admit that life is an adventure and new equipment is always welcome!) When you opened the drawer with your crystals I just about passed out! Then, you showed me your collection of bands and I was finished!! Thank you for taking the time that allows me to truly understand and appreciate (even more than I had before) time pieces from the past. Like a classic book from a must read list these watches tell stories and you sir are eloquently endowed with great skills!! Have a most blessed day and do take care! From the other side of the pond… Always, Andy
Thanks Andy and the same to you and yours
Due to a medical condition, I’m stuck in bed and re watching ( yes pun intended) your videos. I don’t think I’ll ever tinker where a watch is concerned but I love watching your skills and listening to your soft voice. The Dad jokes never get old and either make me smile and giggle cause it’s funny or make me smile and giggle cause they are that bad there funny. Either way thanks for that 😊
I think any object restored and brought back to life is a gem, regardless of its history or monetary value.
Absolutely stunning buddy, as usual. Your skills are amazing, and you always make me smile with your antics. I love these videos, I keep coming back to them. Keep up the good work sir.
Joe, amazing camera and lighting work. I love that lens. Thanks for making this video. Wish you and yours well.
Thank you 🙏
I may have not understood how you cleaned and fixed that watch, but what I did get out of your video is Peace, Love and God Bless your friends. Just those words alone would bring all people together on this short journey we spend on eearth. Lets all listen and spread our 💕.
Hi hi, my tinkering is on much larger and ugly machines. I love this macro tinkering on gorgeous things just as much. Watching you restore this gorgeous watch to life is awesome.
Well done! A true work of art.
I recently restored the manual wind 1914 version of this movement and it was a delight how well put together it was. Except for that quickset date, it was a challenge to get the stem length right.
That is a beauty of a watch now. Repaired and polished up just nicely so that it doesn't lose of the aged appeal it has. Detail on the movement is always amazing for something that old.
Greetings from the land down-under.
I just inherited a Rotary 17 jewel with a date complication Schild hand wind movement.
I have just had the cracked hesalite crystal replaced with a clean ,lubricate and adjust service. I love tha gold plated cushion case.
My favourite daily wearer.
Cant beat a Swiss watch with history.
I have a vintage seiko with a very similar case and dial. I love it !!🤩
It's always good to know we still have your material. Always educative, fun and you make it feel we're part of your family.
Greetings from México.
Thanks to you, i lost my fear on servicing an Eta 2824-2. The dopamine shot from looking the movement running again is amazing.
Blessings.🙏
Thank you 🙏
@@NekkidWatchmaker My very pleasure.
I love your work, presentation, humour, the whole package! You’re the only person on CZcams who can keep me engaged for 40+ minutes. Thank you. You’re brilliant!
Thank you 🙏
I have not seen much from you in a while but this was just what I needed. Better than therapy so calming to hear the narration and the expertise is just amazing to watch.
Another great job never a disappointment thank you so much for your therapy
Thanks Chris
This close up shots are brilliant ! Amazing work as well
Thanks a lot!
What a relaxing moment your videos provide. To see how an old watch comes back to life is always a moment of pleasure. Thanks again.
Who needs meditiation? I could spend hours listening to your lilting tones and expert skills. I love your content.
Love your channel. YOU are the one that got me into watches. Darn you
Thanks?
Another beautiful restoration.
It’s like watching a magician at work and great entertainment too. Thanks for sharing your work with us.
Loved the humour when your wayward hand was intent on polishing the case, gave me the best laugh of the day. As ever, fascinating stuff and so engaging.
The AS 1916 movement was used in dozens of brands in the 60s and early 70s, every from budget department store branded watches to the Jaeger-LeCoultre Club Automatic model.
Do you also do kettle repair videos? I can send you mine, it broke today. You get the video revenue, I get my kettle back. Deal?
Lol
As always, a rather enjoyable way to spend the day watching this gentleman at work.
I'm in awe that you can remember where everything goes. There was just so many little parts.I was overwhelmed just watching you.🤪😅
This shows that Rolex is just charging money for the brand
Ciao my friend, I have been following you for some time now and you never cease to amaze the skills you have as a watchmaker, you bring to life the discarded and unloved… you bring about your passion for the exceptional work you carry out and I must say how proud I am to here you chant indiscriminately the plight of the Palestinians and the world as a hold…. Yes we have become complacent and trend to not recognise the world about us, but the kind gesture you offer lifts our hearts and hope we engage in making the world a better place…
Take care and thanks again for all of you posts and input🙏
We all are eagerly awaiting “TROUBLE’S” first restoration on video! I’m sure you can do the narration with a Little help from dad! Love the channel you are a great man!
Lovely Zen 45 minutes there Joe. Thanks!!
You're a great watchmaker, a wonderful presenter, and a very kind father...can't beat that.
A pleasure and a joy as always, thank you.
Thank you for working on more affordable watches.
Thank you Joe, I am sipping on a hot cup of coffee, enjoying a muffin , warm sun beaming through the window, and it's my day off !! what a great way to spend my morning as you bring a fine watch back into this world.
Thank you, where’s my coffee then ?
I was just coming here to see if you were ok. Have not seen anything from you for a while. I'm glad you are back here again
Thanks Dave
Even though the gold case didn’t want to go to the polishing wheel it turned out awesomely beautiful. Great work restoring this older beauty.
Another piece of recent history resurected. Here in Australia, we have similar looking watches with equally nice movements if not more common like the ETA 2879 or 2873 branded Felicia in the 1970's. I think every Aussie of my vintage had a Felicia around that time. Especislly Nurses as i believe 100% of the Nurses broach watches here through the 1970's carried that name. I have one very much like the case you repaired Joe, only it has a divers bezel... beautiful to see these time machines back in favour !! Thanks again ... Toddy
Nice to be back to watch you, great videos and watch maker 👍👏
Beautiful watch. amazing how well it turned out.
I am a retired heavy equipment mechanic. I used to take multi-million dollar machines apart and reassemble them.
I injured my knee the other day so have to stay off of it for a week, so what to do with my time.
CZcams.
Now I get to watch a fellow take tiny little machines apart and put them back together. I find it very relaxing.
Thank you and hope your knee gets better soon
Missed your posts, glad you're back, hope you and your family are well.
Thank you 🙏
Watching you work makes me happy. I love watches and good craftsmanship.
A gem in the rough... brilliant as always. John
The video is very satisfying, but it was great that you tried to control the urge to polish the watch case, congratulations on the video!!
These kind of videos are the most relaxing videos on CZcams
Love it
Thank you for sharing this video, wishing you and your family peace love and many blessings 🙏
Thank you Robert
Looks great,so amazed how an abandoned watch can be saved to be worn as it should be
Nice! A Rotary was the first watch I had; given to me by my grandfather, rather, willed to me. I loved that watch and still have it. I wish I could afford a watchmaker to look at my old watches to restore them.
always a treat visiting with you
Always wonderful commentary. Thank you.
Your videos shows your love for what you do.
Thank you for another relaxing, insightful, and dad-jokey watch rescue. 😎
Thank you 🙏
I have zero interest in watches and only own a cheap digital one to see the time in the bedroom at night, but I do love this channel, the calmness is very good for me and I do like to see the transformation of even the most basic watches you show us.
My kind of watch! I've found a few forgotten gems now for peanut prices. Sometimes a sit on a radiator brings them back to life ( a squirt of WD-40 in the case of one old rusty trench watch ) and it's great to know that given the TLC of someone with your skills they could once again be timepieces of miniature mechanical magnificence. Learning this stuff is fascinating as its history is what has shaped the world. More knowledge however, might see me better prepared for the future. A future which might reveal our faith in electronics misplaced.....
I love the 70s rotary watches. I inherited a couple and never paid them much attention until I got into 'tinkering', now I have a few. For the most part their all AS movements.
