How Maz Kanata Got Anakin's Lightsaber

- How did Maz Kanata get ahold of Anakin’s lightsaber? In The Force Awakens she says it’s a good story for another time. Well, did you know there is a version of that story out there already? Or should I say a “vision” of that story? In Star Wars Visions Volume Two, the Aardman short film, I Am Your Mother, features a shop selling several items that were once touched by Luke Skywalker. The lightsaber is present, and you can see Maz Kanata’s hand steal it just before a Jawa does the same thing. So…this is not a canon version of events at all. It’s simply meant to be a joke. But it did get a good laugh out of me when I caught it.

She was like “it was about to be stolen anyways, but at least I know it’s true value so I might as well steal it before it’s stolen”
Maz Kanata does know her way around the Galaxy. Maybe she was working on Bespin when Luke lost the lightsaber 😂
She had her man, Chewey distract the store owner while she swiped it.
Somehow, Anakins lightsaber returned
I see what you did here. Perfect short for Mother's Day.
Real answer is plot convenience
Damn I really need to watch that one again, I’m pretty sure I missed tons of Easter eggs and visual gags. Plus it helps I Am Your Mother is really good. Still remember watch that for the first time at Celebration London.
I'm actually kinda surprised they have yet to tell that story. I figure there already be a book or comic covering it since it wasn't explained in the films 🤔
JJ told it in interviews so I think in another universe where he done 8 and 9 he would’ve shown it
The current Marvel run of Star Wars comics showed Luke searching for his lost hand and lightsaber almost immediately after recuperating from his duel, but gave up upon Leia making him understand that it could take him years to search through all of Bespin's junk. Ironically, an Ugnaught scavenger found it very near to Luke's position after he left.
Yet, somehow, it still hasn't been revealed how Maz specifically came upon the lightsaber.
@@user-ef7kt5sf6oWould have been unnecessary and a waste of time to explain it in the movies. It doesn’t add anything to the story.
I'm totally cool with that explanation! 😂
Hahaha! Definitely missed that
She had the lightsaber because the writers of Disney Star Wars had no idea what they were doing with the sequel trilogy, they thought they could just ignore continuity and make it all up as they went along. It’s really mind boggling that they didn’t plan it out better.
At least its a explanation even though its not canon its better than nothing
*canon
A cannon is something else
It’s a good story for another time.
It told us the truth from a certain point of view
She somehow got it 🤷♂️
Somehow Palpatine returns, again again
Because JJ gave it to her 😂
Don't think about it too hard
It's almost like JJ Abrams is bad at storytelling and had no actual story to tell and just wanted the light saber to be there because it's a recognizable prop.
this is the correct response
Hold on
Aardman made a Star Wars short????
Thank you so much for noticing this!
The answer is Robot Chicken
Maz then went home to snack on cheese, and plan upcoming clock repairs with her dog.
Heh I never noticed that how cool
Wait what?? What about the mystery box?!?
She stoll it
I thought i read somethi.g where she actually went to like bespon and like when through a lot of trouble going down where it was or something idk 9 cant temeber exactly
At least canonically, it still hasn't been explained how Maz came upon it. So far, the current Marvel run of Star Wars comics showed Luke searching for his lost hand and lightsaber almost immediately after recuperating from his duel, but gave up upon Leia making him understand that it could take years to find them among Cloud City's junk. Ironically, an Ugnaught scavenger found it very near to Luke's position after he left.
I wonder if they sold Luke's hand too.
Movie name
J.J doesn't think about why, just if it'd be what he thinks is cool, no pay off, just his Mystery Boxes... which is why Lost was so...well lost...
Same thing with the mystery of Palpatine’s return.
I know a lot of people don't like how things weren't explained in the trilogy, but people forget that George took a long time even mentioning the clone wars again, he even specified to authors not to speculate on the clone wars, as he had plans for it. Almost everything in star wars is explained outside of the movie, always has.
The difference is that George gave us fans an amazing story & universe. Then asked us to wait for other in depth explanations outside of the movies.
Which the fans were given enough good will to grace that opportunity.
The Disney Wars gave us very little of that, used George's story & universe lazily, then asked us to wait for more. Why should we? You haven't earned that grace.
It's like one person coming in, doing an amazing magic trick, then telling you to wait to hear about how he learned to do such amazing magic later. You'll do that.
Then another comes in, says "Remember that amazing magic trick?" Does a bad magic trick then kicks you between the legs. Then tells you to wait to learn how he learned such amazing magic. No. No we will not.
this is fanfiction, not real star wars. aka it didnt happen.
The retcon from House of X/Powers of X that Moira MacTaggart is actually a mutant who had lived 9 previous lives is, to my mind, one of the best retcons in recent years. It adds so many layers to the character and recontextualizes her entire previous history in a fascinating way.
Got to love the lazy writing of TFA, well the whole sequel trilogy really.
Bad plot. Boom, next question.
Honestly the most annoying part of the sequels for me. I remember being so excited to learn how she got that, but JJ literally didn’t even try when he got a chance to explain it.
Episodes 7 to 9 are meh.
I wish they rebooted and got rid of all the new stuff and bring back legends.
