This episode of downshift, I take you on a journey of this restored 1949 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup. This truck has been in the family for over 60 years and passed down 2 generations to be restored to its original state from when they purchased it in 1955.
I'd like to thank Alex Damm for giving me the opportunity to tell both his story and the life of this truck. I would also like to thank his father, David Damm for everything he did on this project without him allt of the shots would not have been possible.

Teary eyes guys. So beautiful !
I'm fixing up my family's 1950 3100 too. Great project to work on with my dad. The last people to fix it up were my uncle and great grandpa. These things are family legacies that need to be cherished and held close.
Wow my dream truck. Sweet
Really sweet! Greetings from
Beautiful restoration of this classic Chevy 3100 truck. Love it.
This truck has the old time beauty and charm that new trucks lack. Love that green. Take good care of your baby.
YES! THIS IS THE AMERICAN MACHINE.
Wow. Cool truck. I could use this truck right about now. My gmc truck needs a new computer because of corrosion.
my grandpa purchased a 1948 chevy pick up in high school, he even took a girl to the sadie hawkins dance in it. we plan to start restoring it soon. I also plan on having it at my wedding one day too
You're a very lucky man to do a truck like that it looks beautiful you've done a wonderful job and you kept it original that's the beautiful part
Great job! My Dad loved cars and we always had some pretty nice, fast cars. When we lived in Hawaii, Mom drove a 1961 Cadillac El Dorado convertible, black with red leather interior and a white top. Dad drove a 1962 Oldsmobile Delta 88 convertible, gold with gold leather interior and a white top. Then, when we moved to Connecticut, Dad bought a 1969 Chevy Camaro, SS 396 white with black brow stripe and a black vinyl top. After that, he bought a really fun Triumph, GT6, dark blue with overdrive. Wish we still had any of those cars still, but they were fun while we had them! Great story and a great tribute to your family.
Beautiful Truck. I'm restoring a 48 Chevy 1/2 ton 5 window Truck with the original 216 c.i. 6 cylinder with three on the tree. I love the fact that you've kept your's original! Most of the 47 - 53 trucks that you see have had a 350 crate motor installed and a completely new drive train.
Bad ass truck👍🏻👍🏻
Great work! Restoring the truck in original form is commendable. I am not a fan of pimp my ride as most restorers do. This is true beauty. 👌
Beautiful truck! I have my grandfather's 52 3100 that's been in my family since he bought it in 55 so I can relate.
What a beautiful truck!! I used to own a 49 3100 advanced design. Miss the old thing terribly.
Beautiful truck! When I was very little, my dad had a 1950 Chevy 3100 5 window. Probably one of the rarest colors and combos of a pick up at that time. It was sitting in our garage for ages... a couple years later, we did a frame off restoration back to original. It looked EXACLY spot on like this truck afterwards. Later we sold it and I begged my dad not to. I’ve never seen that truck since😪😭
Nice truck, I have a 53 five window, just done on a green exactly like you're truck, this is a classic green and goes beautiful on this old chevy trucks. Keep it beautiful, good memories from your father!!!!
Very nicely restored oldie. I like the fact that you left it as factory original. This chevy is one of my favourite pickup trucks.
