E thirty nine. Not E three Nine 🤨 Also they are Dinan Champion lightweight wheels. Have the same on mine (along with the other S2 bits) You could buy them separately. You didn't have to buy the S2 or 3 package. Dinan is also still in business but owned by Driven performance brands. Beautiful car though! I'd love to get of those seats and door panels.

the company called "dinan" still sells some parts from the steve dinan era for exx cars but the new owner stripped all the engineering talent out of the organization it's not the same steve dinan's new company "carbahn" does basically the save thing he used to do at dinan for new cars now

I would absolutely kill for an E39 M5 in decent condition. Was born just a little too late to early experience the greatest generation of cars, 1980-2005, for a decent price without everything being considered a "classic".

I owned a 2001 M5 in Midnight Blue for many years until it was stolen in 2016. Wish I still had that car - it would be worth a small fortune today. I took VERY good care of my baby.

@@crherniman Not the same car mine didn't have a sunroof and was sold in Germany new. M-cloth interior never came with leather dash either so this is likely done when the car was restored, so not OEM but very good looking, I'd love to see the door cards on this one.

This is easily very possibly the fastest road legal sedan in the world in 2001. Even the stock e39 M5 was the world's fastest production sedan at the time. Reading about Alex Roy's in his book the Driver and loving these as a teenager when they were new, these cars will always hold a special place in my heart. Nice find. What a machine.

These M5s were towards the top of the wish list when they were new. Neighbor had one, let me drive it over a weekend, and at the time it was the most hp I'd tried to control. Glad you were able to find a unicorn!

Ugh, I sold my S2 for 55K. Was my most fun car but didn't want it after the warranty was going to expire. The Dinan tune sucked though, it couldn't handle the Dinan intakes, headers and mufflers when a super sprint x pipe was added to it. Adaptations were always all over the place and would throw cat codes. Had it tuned by someone else not that long before selling it. The x-pipe made it sound like a F1 car on start and a banshee at full throttle. Fun car.
Any way we can get some none arrogant, normal car guys on here to tell stories. Some who doesn’t hang out with Ferrari and what not owners. Am I alone in not caring at all about this story because of the type of owner? Maybe I don’t know

Buddy of mine in high school (20+? Years ago)had a Lemans blue oem+ e39 with low mileage that he got from Texas and paid 25k for it. He drove it for years put a lot of mileage on it turned around and sold it for 30k. Can’t imagine what it’s worth today.

Those seem to be Sport seats. M sports were Alcantara and not available for the M5.
