If you are serious about streaming , gaming, and getting value for your money, just buy a Nvidia shield. I bought one seven years ago and I have never had any problems with it. A word to the wise is sufficient.

Streaming Movies and TV Shows doesn't require that much RAM.

@@cw1217You are correct that you don't need that much RAM but I still enjoy having a lot of RAM anyway.
I spoke with the Dev who does the Downloader App about a month ago, or so. I asked him specifically if he thought Amazon would update current devices with the new OS. He said no. He thinks they’ll start the new OS on new devices.
A better question is how long will Amazon support the current version of fire tv? It won't be indefinitely.

As long as I have the apps I need, I won’t be dumping the firestik. I used to take a nvidia shield on the road for use in hotels, but it’s much bigger and takes up more space. The firestik was a godsend in that regard. Slips into a backpack and is much more convenient. If it becomes unusable, I’ll probably go back to taking my shield along.

I think the one thing people forget is what happens if all streaming devices decide to get rid of side loading and only allow official apps from their app store what will people do then

So glad i swapoed out my firesticks for the onn stick and the onn 4k box w google tv. Way faster and better options in the settings too plus tivimate runs super smooth now.
The new 4K Max is a brilliant device, 16 GB storage for about £50 when it's on offer as it often is. Who knows what the future will bring but right now the stick is great value.
No way I’m going to dump a half dozen newer sticks because a few apps no longer work. By the way, the apps that no longer work I’m not losing a minute of sleep over.
I agree I am not getting rid of my fire TV cube just because Amazon decided to change a few things so what if you won't be able to side load no more what happens if Google decides to do the same thing then I really wonder what people will do besides that most of the apps you side load Don't work right

Those polls are interesting but I don't think they give a complete picture. The average viewer of your CZcams channel is probably the type of person who would like to side load third party apps. Whereas the vast majority of Firestick users don't know anything about side loading or third-party apps and are content just with official apps. If those people were included in the polls I think the results would have been very different.
Facts. Us side loaders are just smarter people looking to save money.

Can't wait to flip Amazon the BIRD !!! I only kept prime for the free shipping, almost dropped that when they wanted to chg. for no adds BS. I JUST don't use prime video, why when I got tons of options to stream whatever I want w/ no adds😊😮
I would just suggest a Super Box with cable and movies already installed on the box
For that box to be legal they would have to license all of the movies pre-installed on the box and it would make it unaffordable.

Actually the Fire stick now is based on Linux. Android OS is an offshoot of Chrome OS which is a fork of Gentoo Linux.
If it's Linux then how come you can install android apps on it?

@@RayzaEFC Because Andriod is an off-shoot of Chrome OS and is essentially in the same echo system as Google and the apps for Andriod are essentially the same as the apps for Fire OS. AS I said before, Chrome OS Is and offshoot of Gentoo. A Linux Distro that has to be installed via the command line but once installed has the look and field of Andriod.
