  • I am thrilled to have David Winston back on the show! This episode is absolutely packed with knowledge and wisdom from David’s 55 years of experience. (Speaking of his incredible storehouse of herbal know-how, if you’d like to study with David, he’s enrolling students now! Details can be found in "Resources" below.)
David’s love of rose really shines through in this episode. He shares so many ways to work with this wonderful plant! As a listener, you also have access to his recipe for Uplift Tea Blend. The downloadable recipe card can be found in the resource section below.
When might you turn to rose? Here are just a few cases when the lovely rose can be helpful:
► When you’re grieving. As David says, “Roses are astonishing not only as a mood elevator, but for broken hearts.”
► As a tonic for your cardiovascular system
► To help quell gut inflammation and heal a leaky gut
But in all of these cases, you need to know which roses are medicinally effective…and which aren’t. Tune in to the entire episode for all the details!
By the end of this episode, you’ll know:
► What to look for (& what to avoid!) when selecting roses to use for medicine
► 9 herbal preparations you can use when working with rose petals, hips, and roots
► People and conditions that can especially benefit from rose’s gifts
► The key difference between herbal and pharmaceutical anti-inflammatories (and why that matters for your health)
    ► and so much more…

Thank you for having David on again. I've been watching your show for a few years now, and I love everything about him - his energy, his enthusiasm, his knowledge, his means of describing the plants, and we have been so helped by the knowledge he has shared. He may be my fave guest! SO inspiring to hear his yearnings early on manifest in the way that it has. That must feel SO SO good.

Dear Rosalee, thank you so much for all the great info you share, your incredible videos, your knowledge and your kind heart. Also, thank you for bringing this wise man to us. Because of you, I will join his program in september, and I think it will impact my life in an amazing way. Plants are not pretentious, selfish, or lazy. They are just faithful to their true essence, and carry out their duty, being themselves. A rose will only try to be a rose. I am sure plants will help me be who I really am, expressing my true nature, also in my career. I have to thank you for having been such an important piece in this path. Also, you know what? I had already thought of you taking this course. Maybe it was not my idea, maybe I was just picking some info that was around haha. It is said, no (important) wedding takes place on earth, unless it has already taken place in heaven. Un gros bisou ❤

Hi Rosalie, I am one of your subscribers for the past year and also read “Wild Remedies” and love both! I just watched David Winston on Roses. I am a 2022 grad of his 2 year program and his therapeutics grad course. I highly recommend his 2 yr program, which you mentioned taking. David’s knowledge is extensive and all of his teachers are amazing, as well. I truly think you would enjoy the course!

Thank you David for sharing such a sane view of the world and your knowledge about roses and thank you Rosalee for facilitating and sharing such a fabulous podcast / youtube channel as usual. Scented roses provide another gift: you can give a plant as a present that carries on giving and even choose the colour of the rose and its perfume to best fit the person receiving it (see David Austin roses as an example). Rosalee, next time you visit Provence, you may want to take the opportunity to go to 'Le jardin de l'abbaye de Valsaintes'. It's a special places that includes a rose garden.

I understand this is a more clinical podcast, appreciate the information and recipes. But I'm wondering what fragrant rose's you may recommend to plant in my backyard. Another talk, there was a mention of David Austin roses. But I obviously don't know rose's, I've been intimidated to grow them. But I'm intrigued with the true scent of a rose! Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, great question. You'll want to find a locally-owned nursery near you that carries roses that grow well in your area. What grows well for me may not do well in your area. Many independent nurseries can order David Austin roses for you.

      Hi,
Here are some ways you can find herbs:
      1. Search for herbal apothecaries near you.
      2. Visit Rosalee’s listing of herb farms and wildcrafters within the US and Canada to find fresh herbs near you. www.herbalremediesadvice.org/Herb-Farms-Wildcrafters.html
      3. Visit Mountain Rose Herbs, an online apothecary that sells high quality organic herbs. They are Rosalee’s first choice for herbs she’s not able to find near her. bit.ly/2KXdWIA

Hi. I have different variety of roses in my garden. Completely pesticide free. Can I make the petals as tea?

    • @HerbsWithRosalee
      @HerbsWithRosalee  Před 2 měsíci +1

Yes, you can. All roses are edible. Two things, though... 1. As simple as it sounds, please do make 100% sure they are roses (Rosa species); and 2. Be mindful of all sprays that are often used for maintaining the "beauty" of roses. If you haven't already, kindly watch the podcast for David's experiences with roses. Do your roses have a strong scent, for instance?
      Cheers,
      Karin Rose
