Religions are protected in the Constitution for a reason. They are beneficial in the big picture. Most Totalitarian states don't allow religion to be freely practiced. And that's true in the Handmaids Tale as well. It's not a real religion - it's compulsory - which invalidates the whole idea of having a religion in the first place. As I said above - Science is as guilty as religion for creating bad conditions. Look at the planet and see what's going on. Open Thine Eyes - as they say!

The Dodo bird, ty! While watching this series, during certain scenes, Elizabeth Moss resembled a bird in an old cartoon. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out which bird it was, until I saw your name & picture! This is not meant to be mean or disrespectful to Elizabeth, it's just that she has very big eyes, & the shape of her nose at certain angles that make her appear that way, I never saw it here, while she's accepting her award! I think it was just the way they filmed at certain angles in the series! Omg, I'm sure I'll catch hell for this post, but I'd be willing to bet there are others out there who have noticed the resemblance too!

May I suggest if you haven't read the book Handmaid Tale by Margaret Atwood. I read it back in the late 80s and it talks about how a cashless society can happen all in a blink of any eye. Martial law and then the far right takes over ---

Naomi Jones Yes, a great read! I had to read it for a Literature course in college in mid1980s, then saw the film in the theater when it was first released. Awesome book and author, Margaret Atwood!
I read the book when it was first published and was so badly affected by it that I never read anything by Margaret Atwood again. The story depressed me for months and would not go away and even now, I refused to watch this filmed series. And that only goes to show how great a writer Atwood was and how prophetic she was at the time although we did not want to believe it.
Not that a cashless society would be a bad idea, it just need to be governed by Empaths with the people's best interst at heart, instead of greedy, war-mongering sociopaths fueled by their insatiable, soulless pursuit of power and control.

Katherine Langford definitely deserved this award....
The Handmaids Tale is a perfect example of a show that has progressively gotten worse with each new season. Season 1 was superb and I also enjoyed 2 a lot. Then things started going downhill from season 3 pretty fast. Season 4 and 5 were awful with the plot all over the place and new random storylines that go nowhere. Through it all, the acting and cinematography has been incredible but the plot holes can't be ignored!
