Amazing channel. Can't wait to start working these into my time on the court.
These are awesome! These drills/games has helped me and my tournament partner tremendously. During rec play, we are forced to split up lmao.

Thanks for sharing learned some new drills.
Hello John, greetings from Uruguay, South America...Pickleball is getting very popular here :)
I showed your videos and tips to my students and they loved them...So thank you very much for sharing all your knowledge and experience in such a friendly and appoachable way.
I want to focus on singles drills and strategies:
1. do you have some drills especific for singles? do you use a different paddle? which are more siutable for singles?
2. taking about the shot placement in a match... that varies too much if you compare it to doubles?
3. in a game...whats your main strategy? , do you aim or look forward for something particular? what is your more effective shot?
4. how many type of players do you have faced? .do you came with a plan depending on your opponent ?
5. Being 4.0-4.5, what are the steps to become a 5.0 player?
Thanks and continue your excellent work!!!!
Great video, John. Excellent explanation of each drill. I plan to incorporate these into my repertoire. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching Sue!
Really appreciate you sharing some of you pro insights. Though I am a 60+ player, I have the desire to play at the pro senior level. So, being able to train in some shape or form like you guys and gals will really help us achieve our goals.
Thanks Ernie, glad it helped. Best of luck on your journey to Sr Pro đ
Like the mix of collaborative and competitive!
I gotta have a competitive element otherwise I get bored pretty quickly. Thatâs probably news to you that Iâm competitive. đ
Great drill ideas - individually and has a whole workout - thanks!
Great video. You are both very impressive. I would love to do a training seeing like this but doubt I can find someone willing to go l over 2 hours like that!
Thanks John, excellent teaching videos. Iâve been practicing the fast hands drill but at my age nothing is fast. Consistency with a little more speed is my short term goal.
Thanks Mike. The goal is to be as efficient as possible within the limits of what youâre physically capable of.
Thank you for your time and posting. Really good information. What else I like to do is both players step into the NVZ, then volley back and forth, straight ahead, slow at first than harder hits. Do that for about 5 minutes. Then step back behind the NVZ line, five minutes repeat. When you step back behind the line, it is amazing how much time you have to hit the ball. Also, I like to move from sideline to sideline volleying back and forth, then volley moving back and forth in the opposite directions. Thank you again for your and your partner's time.
Yes! those are both great drills as well. I've mixed in both of those from time to time
Iâve taken lessons & clinics from you in the past. Iâm so thankful that I can now see your great videosâŠthanks, John! Youâre the best!
Thanks Deanna, hope all is well with your Pickleball game!
Great drills. Thanks.
Thanks đ
I LOVE that you like the Fast Hands drill and may do it more than once in a session. That has made me so much better at blocking. Now I just need to redirect the block and soften it. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Carolyn! I appreciate you checking out the video.
@@johncincolapickleball I think my partner and I would die playing the short games to 11, so we may shorten them to 5 points to begin with. Then again, our rallies will be much shorter than yours until we get better. We are knocking on the 4.0 door and love drilling, so your video was a big help.
I like to stand at the NVZ line and push block drives from my training partner.
Fast hands from inside the NVZ đ
5:39 Roll and Reset (Cooperative)
Good video... do you change your grip anytime during the volleyballs? Or you just keep a semi western grip at all times and use the wrist to "change" the grip. Thanks
Unique drilling very very nice đ
Thanks Romanđ
I would love to see more drill sessions
Iâll do that soon đ
My Dupr just went up watching this. Good video John!
Haha, love it. Thanks!
I'm so new at the game I don't get to practice that way except while in a game.
practice makes perfect
great drill session. I dont have a drill partner. only my machine. Rachel shows no mercy. great job.
Thank you!
Great video!!
Thanks Sam!
Great drills the only thig I didn't see was 3rd shot drills. Do you guy's do that another time?
Good video, thank you
Thanks Elizabeth!
In the skinny singles, I guess you can reset or ATP to other court if pulled wide? Excellent instructional video by the way.
Yes, same rules in the skinny singles as we did in the cross court dink and play drill. Basically anytime weâre doing cross court live ball drills we use the reset area.
thanks for the video. would love to see a video of drills you can do when you can't find a partner. with a wall or ball machine, etc
Thanks, Great suggestion!
Thanks for the drills. Rachel is a beast!!! What's her rating?
I may be wrong but I think Iâve seen her play before at OC! Super good
Yep, sheâs a very good player!
Thanks John loved your informative video. You covered it allâŠ.our favorite is hot volleys too. But the difference for us is we step 1 foot into the kitchen and do the drill from there. Do you have any comment(s) on that version?
Yeah, Iâve seen that before. I like the idea! I havenât done it much, but maybe Iâll start incorporating it more. Thanks for watching đ
Great video again! Thanks so much for showing us your drill session. I love how structured it is, yet with a good amount of variety.
A couple of questions:
1) On the reset dink that is straight (with the dink drill that is cross court) Do you get one per rally? or is it once and then you have to go back cross shot. I also noticed you do this on Skinny singles too. I never thought about doing this but like this idea!
2) Do you allow Erne's on dink drills straight up/skinny singles?
3) On skinny singles cross-court, some people complain that the middle shot to the baseline is cheating because your partner would have that in doubles ( I hope this makes sense) . I agree that for most 4.5+ players this is not difficult to hit on a dead dink but I also think that most 4.5+ players should read it and cover it in skinny singles. What are your thoughts on this? Should we ban it in skinny singles or just play through it.
Thanks again for such an amazing video!
Hey Justin, great questions.
1: I donât play with a set rule for this but typically itâs just one reset than back cross court after that. You can do it multiple times in a rally, just not multiple times in a row.
2:I donât typically but Iâve seen it done both ways.
3:I think thereâs only a very small portion of these shots through the middle that are unrealistic for you to cover. Most speed ups through the middle should be the cross court persons responsibility anyway since you partner would be covering the line.
Hope that helps.
Great video
Thanks!
John, the only thing I didn't understand is when you are do "skinny singles" cross-court, it seemed like you were still playing balls that were outside of the crosscourt. Can you explain.?
If you have a practice partner, consider yourself blessed đ
Thanks for the interesting video. What is the structure you are playing in? Did you build it yourself?
Thanks, itâs a commercial leased building that we had the Pickleball floor put down in it.
Do you ever add any 3rd shot drop drills? Excellent routine!!
Sometimes not often though. Iâm believer that the drop is just an extension of hood dinking technique. If my dinks feel good then my drops are usually on as well
What grip are you using with the fast hands. I like to be in an eastern grip on the left side . I donât want to change grips in a battle while I cover my left side .
Wow!So good drillđđđ
I hope Iâd like to have a private lesson.đ€
Thanks! let me know if you're in the Chicago area.
Thank you for interesting me. Live in Hot Springs,AR.
In the future,I really have a private lesson with you.
When I do fast hands drilling, we often stand inside the pickleball line to make it a requirement to react even faster than would actually be necessary during a firefight. The goal/hope is to make a lot of normal play seem slow as compared to our fast hands drill.
So no drop shot drilling?
Iâm a believer that a drop is just an extended dink. Usually we do enough dinking that I donât need to do specific practice on drops. Sometimes weâll throw it in though.
great stuff. Would have been nice to have a text doc in the video description of each drill and order so we can print out or put on our phone to bring to the court so we avoid - âwhat was the next drill we want to work on?â
Like it âŠ.looks familiar
Thanks PJ!
@@johncincolapickleball your welcomeâŠ..like itâŠ..Pat.
Does she chew gum while playing too? Looks like she has some tennis background as her two handed backhand is on point. The two handed backhand is probably may favorite shot but took a while to develop.
Yeah, she has a tennis background as well as platform tennis. Sheâs worked hard on her two hander. Itâs really turning into a weapon.
Looking good Rachel! SO HOT! đ
