    Hello John, greetings from Uruguay, South America...Pickleball is getting very popular here :)
    I showed your videos and tips to my students and they loved them...So thank you very much for sharing all your knowledge and experience in such a friendly and appoachable way.
    I want to focus on singles drills and strategies:
    1. do you have some drills especific for singles? do you use a different paddle? which are more siutable for singles?
    2. taking about the shot placement in a match... that varies too much if you compare it to doubles?
    3. in a game...whats your main strategy? , do you aim or look forward for something particular? what is your more effective shot?
    4. how many type of players do you have faced? .do you came with a plan depending on your opponent ?
    5. Being 4.0-4.5, what are the steps to become a 5.0 player?
    Thanks and continue your excellent work!!!!

    Thank you for your time and posting. Really good information. What else I like to do is both players step into the NVZ, then volley back and forth, straight ahead, slow at first than harder hits. Do that for about 5 minutes. Then step back behind the NVZ line, five minutes repeat. When you step back behind the line, it is amazing how much time you have to hit the ball. Also, I like to move from sideline to sideline volleying back and forth, then volley moving back and forth in the opposite directions. Thank you again for your and your partner's time.

      @@johncincolapickleball I think my partner and I would die playing the short games to 11, so we may shorten them to 5 points to begin with. Then again, our rallies will be much shorter than yours until we get better. We are knocking on the 4.0 door and love drilling, so your video was a big help.

      Yes, same rules in the skinny singles as we did in the cross court dink and play drill. Basically anytime we’re doing cross court live ball drills we use the reset area.

.our favorite is hot volleys too. But the difference for us is we step 1 foot into the kitchen and do the drill from there. Do you have any comment(s) on that version?

  • @justinzw
    @justinzw Pƙed 2 lety +6

    Great video again! Thanks so much for showing us your drill session. I love how structured it is, yet with a good amount of variety.
    A couple of questions:
    1) On the reset dink that is straight (with the dink drill that is cross court) Do you get one per rally? or is it once and then you have to go back cross shot. I also noticed you do this on Skinny singles too. I never thought about doing this but like this idea!
    2) Do you allow Erne's on dink drills straight up/skinny singles?
    3) On skinny singles cross-court, some people complain that the middle shot to the baseline is cheating because your partner would have that in doubles ( I hope this makes sense) . I agree that for most 4.5+ players this is not difficult to hit on a dead dink but I also think that most 4.5+ players should read it and cover it in skinny singles. What are your thoughts on this? Should we ban it in skinny singles or just play through it.
    Thanks again for such an amazing video!

    • @johncincolapickleball
      @johncincolapickleball  Pƙed 2 lety +3

      Hey Justin, great questions.
      1: I don’t play with a set rule for this but typically it’s just one reset than back cross court after that. You can do it multiple times in a rally, just not multiple times in a row.
      2:I don’t typically but I’ve seen it done both ways.
      3:I think there’s only a very small portion of these shots through the middle that are unrealistic for you to cover. Most speed ups through the middle should be the cross court persons responsibility anyway since you partner would be covering the line.
      Hope that helps.

    • @johncincolapickleball

    When I do fast hands drilling, we often stand inside the pickleball line to make it a requirement to react even faster than would actually be necessary during a firefight. The goal/hope is to make a lot of normal play seem slow as compared to our fast hands drill.

    • @johncincolapickleball
      @johncincolapickleball  Pƙed rokem

      I’m a believer that a drop is just an extended dink. Usually we do enough dinking that I don’t need to do specific practice on drops. Sometimes we’ll throw it in though.
