    "Grooving" isn't a drill. Ben Johns breaks them all down as you mentioned: Drops, speedups, midcourt resets, drives, dinking.

    @badkins13 Před 11 měsíci +5

    3.5 times more shots hit in two hours of drilling vs two hours of open play. It’s a numbers game just like any other skill. Nice video once again.

      @88joshuajohnathan Před 8 měsíci

      It is way more than that. Well it depends on the level of play for sure.
      You do regular rec play and people just blast drives and never dink.

    Background music is a little too loud. I think that 3 person drills are the best because it is the most realistic pattern in-game. It's most evident at the pro level where you really avoid the best/better player so it looks like the ball is only getting hit by 3 players. I think one thing you might have not mentioned which is related to groove drills is "cooperation". I know someone who likes to drill but from the get go they go hard as if it's like they are in a tournament final. You basically lose the purpose of drilling, might as well break my back cleaning my house than picking up balls over and over just because the other player don't know control.

    I had seen Ben and Collins drill video. It was a huge help.
    Enjoyed your video with the exception of the background music making it very difficult to hear you speak.
    I like the idea of drilling with 3.

    Great videos! Drilling like this has really accelerated my game. I jumped to a 4.8 DUPR and am playing in my first Senior Pro tournament this Saturday in Tustin Hills. Thanks so much for all these amazing and precise videos. And the way you incorporate instruction from other pros is so valuable. Very grateful 🙏

    I like the teaching style in your videos. The only downside point for me is the background music. I find it loud and bothering. This is meant to be a constructive critic. The background music should be lowered or even better, silenced completely. My opinion. Thanks for your videos.

    Played in my first tournament this past weekend. I definitely noticed that against tougher teams we had to work the transition zone to get to the kitchen. 3rd, 5th and sometimes 7th shot drops were needed. I don't hardly ever have to do that in rec ball!

    Good stuff. I would like more high level videos. It’s hard to find upper 4.5 plus videos. I would say that 80% of videos out there are 4.0 and below

    Great content man, nicely summarized. For others watching this, check out John Cincola’s channel where he explains his typical drilling session. Nicely compliment’s Ben’s video

    • @afterthesmash
      @afterthesmash Před 9 měsíci

      Totally agree. Cincola is my other favourite channel. This channel and Cincola have more strategic meat on the bones, and more distillation of underlying technique. If you actually want to focus down on small details of technique, both Simone (older content) and Tyson are pretty good. But I find this channel and Cincola have the best balance between how and why.

    Good content Mr. Pickleburner, but if I may, the music is very distracting, dare I say annoying. If you are committed to the music thing, mix it way down because it's competing with your voice. I'd suggest using it when you're showing just video of playing or drilling, but not when you're talking.

    Hi
    In another video on tennis bangers so much emphasis was put on deep serve and deep return, why don't we drill these two shots?

    • @pickleburner
      @pickleburner  Před 10 měsíci

      maybe we should drill it more! i serve and returned more when i practiced singles and it definitely helped some in doubles.

    Great videos. Do you find any value hitting against a wall/backboard?

    • @pickleburner
      @pickleburner  Před 11 měsíci

      wall drills can be useful for developing hand-eye coordination if you don't have any other options but i'd choose drilling with other people 100% of the time personally

    • @michaelwang8195
      @michaelwang8195 Před 11 měsíci +1

      I mostly find wall drills for developing a new shot or a shot I'm not making clean contact on or feeling uncomfortable with. Most recently I didn't think my two handed backhand dink was useable at the level I wanted to play even for drilling so I just used the wall to iron out the contact points I wasn't comfortable hitting it with (ie picking up the ball with the 2hbh a foot outside my outside foot).
